The Health & Safety Manager is part of the Operations, Risk & Compliance (ORC) team, a key component of Corporate Services, and delivers a comprehensive and high-quality service across the organisation. This is an exciting role, keeping our employees, visitors and the public safe, and protecting the legal integrity of the charity.
As the Health & Safety Manager, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all aspects of health and safety protocols and procedures for our office-based and remote employees, visitors, contractors, and volunteers. Your primary objective will be to ensure compliance with all health and safety related regulations while fostering a culture of safety awareness and continuous improvement. You will appreciate the balance of compliance with the law, and the needs of our stakeholders. You’ll be empowered to lead on exciting and varied projects which shape the way our charity works and supports making research breakthroughs possible.
Main duties and responsibilities of the role:
Your duties will include, but not be limited to:
· Responsibility for inputting into and executing operational plans, and for the operational performance, of the health and safety of the organisation.
· Undertaking operational activities that require good judgement, creativity, and pragmatism, with autonomy and accountability.
· Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health and safety policies and procedures.
· Conduct regular risk assessments according to the needs of the business, including new and expectant mothers, events, health conditions, office assessments, DSE etc.
· Provide guidance and support to employees at all levels on health and safety matters, including training programs and awareness campaigns.
· Keep abreast of changes in health and safety legislation and regulations and ensure company compliance.
· Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, and develop strategies to prevent recurrence.
· Maintain accurate records and documentation related to health and safety activities, including incident reports and training records.
· Devise and maintain regular reporting and metrics for organisational use.
· Collaborate with other departments to integrate health and safety considerations into business operations and planning.
· Coordinate with external vendors, such occupational health providers, as necessary.
· Act as a liaison between employees and management regarding health and safety concerns, ensuring that all voices are heard and addressed.
What we are looking for:
· NEBOSH Diploma or degree in occupational health and safety.
· Experience in health and safety management in an office setting.
· Pragmatic and balanced approach to compliance.
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
· In-depth knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations and best practices.
· Confidence in presenting / communicating to groups of people and / or senior leadership.

Additional Information:
Ways of working: As part of our Agile ways of working you will be required to work approximately 2 days a week from the office, which is subject to the requirements of the role and the business needs. Flexibility on where you work can be split between working from home and our office.
Roles that are classed as part of the Agile ways of working are not able to claim any costs for Mileage/Travel on Public Transport, Accommodation and/or Meals. This includes when attending the office for various meetings/events.

Fauna & Flora is seeking a highly experienced professional to manage it’s fundraising from a portfolio of statutory (government and multilateral) donors, such as Defra, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service etc.
You will support colleagues and partners to develop high-quality proposal packages for priority donors, and ensure their timely submission. You will coordinate proposals and reporting internally, and ensure all documents produced for donors meet their criteria, as well as follow Fauna & Flora approval and submission procedures. There is a strong capacity development element to this work, and you will share knowledge, learning and resources across Fauna & Flora to maximise success rate and promote best practice in grant management and donor stewardship. You may also develop and deliver training packages, in Cambridge and potentially overseas. You will monitor Fauna & Flora’s activities in statutory fundraising and fund management within your portfolio, and support internal decision-making and strategy development by sharing this learning.
Experience of working with government funding sources, be they bilateral and/or multilateral, is essential for this role. You will have proven experience of securing restricted funding from government sources, and a strong understanding of how statutory donors and funding programmes support the achievement of international targets and government priorities. Knowledge of and experience in biodiversity conservation, the development sector, and/or climate is an asset; a commitment to learning and supporting these sectors is essential. You may have worked in the non-profit sector, such as international development, or have a background in bid management, proposal development, and grant fundraising.
Strong relationship-management and communications skills are essential to the role, to develop positive, collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including regional teams, non-governmental partners, and government agencies. You will be diplomatic and persuasive, and your excellent interpersonal skills will enable you to coordinate people and processes to meet timelines. You will be a strong team player and enjoy working in a dynamic environment where the ability to respond swiftly to changing organisational and team needs is paramount. With a proactive and pre-emptive approach to your work, you will seek to add value and work with minimal supervision.
Fluency in written and spoken English is essential. Skills in languages relevant to Fauna & Flora’s programme (e.g., French, Spanish, Bahasa) are highly desirable. Sensitivity to the different working environments and capacities of colleagues around the world is also essential.

The latest research suggesting that the number of children and young people at risk of hunger has rocketed to three million means that one in five children don't have enough to eat.
When a child is too hungry to learn, when they’re aching for something to eat, they can’t concentrate. They can’t absorb information. Big feelings and worries can be impossible to control. They fall behind in their studies.
Magic Breakfast provide a nutritious and filling breakfast to over 200,000 children and young people every school day. We work with schools in areas of high disadvantage, helping staff target the children most in need without barrier or stigma.
Magic Breakfast are ambitious to grow our impact in order to remove hunger as a barrier to learning for all children and young people in the UK. To do this, we need to continue to grow our fundraised income, of which new corporate income is a significant element.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

About the opportunity
Fundraising is critical to delivering our mission and ensuring we can support as many children and young people facing disadvantage to open doors to their future. The Philanthropy Team as a whole has a combined target income for the current year (2023-24) of £1.83 million (growing to £2.35m as our target for next year), of which approximately £850k is from corporate donors and their foundations, £100k is from individuals, and the remaining from trusts and foundations. We have been successful year on year in increasing our fundraising base by building secure multi-year partnerships.
We are looking for a Fundraising Manager to work within our passionate Philanthropy Team to help grow our fundraised income and develop and maintain an effective, high-quality funding pipeline. Focussing predominantly on eliciting funding from trusts and foundations, and working closely with the Head of Philanthropy, CEO and Corporate Partnerships Manager, the Fundraising Manager will ensure the effective management of existing funder relations and take responsibility for ensuring Action Tutoring meets its reporting obligations. The Fundraising Manager will be responsible for the line-management and development of three Fundraising Coordinators, through which you and your team will prepare and submit grant applications and funding reports, alongside overseeing the development and growth of our individual giving activities and initiatives, including through expansion of our fundraising events and campaigns.

Duties and responsibilities
· Work with the CEO, Head of Philanthropy and Corporate Partnerships Manager to ensure Action Tutoring’s fundraising targets are met and manage an effective pipeline across Action Tutoring’s different income streams.

About World Child Cancer
Over 400,000 children worldwide develop cancer each year. Childhood cancer is most often curable, with over 80% survival rate in high income countries. However, in many low-and-middle-income countries survival rates are often 25% or lower.
World Child Cancer’s goal is to help redress that inequity and improve the chances of children with cancer to survive and thrive in under-resourced countries. We are looking for someone with experience working with young people in a youth work setting and leading a team to open and take responsibility for the KFC Youth Foundation's first youth hub located in Middlesbrough.
The KFC Youth Foundation is the corporate foundation that was setup in 2015 and is financially supported by KFC UK&I. The KFC Youth Foundation is a charity.
Since its inception the KFC Youth Foundation has made donations and grants of more than £8m. In 2021 we became a community grant maker, offering grants of up to £2,500 to grass roots organisations working with young people in their communities. Organisations who share the passion we have for developing young people. Since setting up the programme we have made grants to a value of £351,570, supporting 10,271 young people.
But we aren’t ones to rest on our laurels and over the last 18 months we have been developing a strategy to transform ourselves into a service delivery organisation. It is our ambition to create KFC Youth Foundation Hubs; amazing spaces with awesome youth workers that allow young people who most need it, to feel safe and secure.
We are opening our first Youth Hub in Middlesbrough this summer. It is our intention to deliver open access youth services with a particular focus around food education, employment and food aid, by creating a training kitchen and cafe.

What will you be doing?

About the role
Becoming the Programme Marketing Manager at the Cherie Blair Foundation for Women is a fantastic opportunity to help drive progress for women entrepreneurs in low and middle income countries by engaging more people in our work.
The key purpose of this role is to effectively market our programmes to participants – chiefly our HerVenture business skills microlearning app and our sector-leading Mentoring Women in Business programme.
This will span three main projects:
· to successfully manage a marketing agency to effectively market the HerVenture app to women in South Africa (as part of a fixed-term project with active marketing ongoing until Mar ‘25);
· to successfully manage the same marketing agency to promote the app in Nigeria (as part of a separate fixed-term project with active marketing ongoing until Dec ‘24); and
· to effectively promote the opportunity to become a mentor to a woman entrepreneur through our Mentoring Women in Business programme to paying professionals worldwide. Your objective will be to secure 18+ paid mentors for the Nov ’24 programme intake and 20+ for the May ’25 intake.
Following the completion of the two HerVenture marketing projects, you will also lead other programme marketing initiatives in 2025. These will be determined in late 2024.
Following the May ’25 Mentoring intake you will deliver a strategy, harnessing your learning and analysis to outline an approach for marketing the programme to paying mentors in future.
You will also be called on to support other forms of programme marketing on an ad hoc basis, for example advising on development of corporate pitch decks, or co-designing materials for fundraising events.
This position reports directly to the Head of Communications and Marketing, however this is a highly collaborative role and you will also work closely with the Entrepreneurship programmes team and the Programme Funding team to develop and deliver plans and manage projects.
Our ideal candidate will be a knowledgeable and motivated marketer with experience in ‘selling’ professional development / online volunteering opportunities, and in managing agencies and contractors to deliver on fixed projects as aligned to good marketing practices. You should be highly organised and goals-driven, with a collaborative approach, a growth-oriented mindset, and a strong desire to harness the power of marketing to support women’s economic empowerment.

Duties and key responsibilities
Community fundraising
- Manage and develop regional fundraising by devising a regional community fundraising strategy for income generation.

- Lead on promotion of community fundraising through digital marketing, PR, speaking engagements and on the ground fundraising.
Management
- Provide line management and day-to-day support to the Regional Fundraising Officer North, building their fundraising knowledge.
- Develop, manage, and monitor budgets for your areas of responsibility.
Income Generation
- Implement agreed KPIs, objectives and budget for the Regional Fundraising Team to drive support and engagement.
- Identify fundraising products, key accounts, and projects that will support income growth both locally and nationally.
- Responsible for monitoring and managing all income streams across all community fundraising lines including Gift Aid and working closely with the Operations Team.
Processes, administration, and reporting
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date supporter records on Sarcoma UK’s database (Raiser’s Edge).
- Ensure all recording, and stewardship processes are up to date and working across the fundraising team, wider charity and in accordance with current laws and regulations.
- Ensure necessary Community Fundraising policies are up to date.
- Follow Sarcoma UK’s processes and procedures including risk assessments to ensure a consistent approach and maintain a high level of support expected by our donors and fundraisers.
- Ensure that all activities are compliant with legislation governing fundraising including GDPR, health and safety, Institute of Fundraising, and the Fundraising Regulator Code of Conduct.
Wider fundraising
- Support company and corporate partnerships that utilise community and trade fundraising.
- Support third party fundraising and challenge event portfolio.
- Work with the Events Manager to develop merchandise and trade income opportunities.
- Support with managing merchandise supplier relationships and internal and external stock levels.
General
- The role requires some travel to events and meetings throughout the UK. Some weekend or evening work will also be required and time off in lieu will be given. Travel expenses will be reimbursed (exc. Travel to the Sarcoma UK office).
- Stay up to date with the latest knowledge in fundraising and ensure Sarcoma UK’s processes and procedures follow best practice.
- The post holder will be working in a developing environment, and they will therefore be required to undertake other appropriate duties as necessary for the efficient operation of Sarcoma UK.

About the Role
There are 1.4 million primary-aged children growing up in poverty in the UK, and we are currently only working with a fraction of them. We have grown rapidly over the last few years and are now looking to recruit a Fundraising Manager who can help take our fundraising work to the next level.
The Fundraising Manager will work with the team to drive Learning with Parents’ fundraising strategy. Their primary focus will be on strengthening our existing corporate partnerships pipeline, and managing new and existing corporate relationships. They will continue to develop and adapt the Learning with Parents proposition for corporate partnerships ensuring partnerships deliver mutual benefits and maximise impact on our shared mission.
The Fundraising Manager will also support our work with High Net Worth Individuals and Trust and Foundations. Their responsibilities will also include line management of our Fundraising and Operations Officer to achieve their aims and objectives.
The Fundraising Manager will represent Learning with Parents at external fundraising and networking events to raise our profile, build relationships and promote parental engagement in the charitable and education sectors.
Areas of Responsibility
Building a pipeline of corporate partners

Working closely with Learning with Parents’ CEO and COO, research, qualify and prioritise prospects to create a buoyant pipeline.

Maintain and update the prospect pipeline.

Engage with and cultivate potential corporate partners to develop meaningful collaborations with shared goals.
Stewarding new and existing funders

Writing and submitting applications to corporate foundations and other trusts and foundations.

Manage and steward Learning with Parents’ corporate partners, trust and foundations and other donors.

Fulfil any donor due diligence requirements.

Draft compelling update reports and other written materials as required.
Feeding into the fundraising strategy

Input into Learning with Parents’ fundraising strategy.

Feed into discussions around what the Fundraising team should look like as the organisation grows.
Responding to new opportunities

Engage with new fundraising opportunities such as Awards and connections with High Net Worth Individuals (HNWIs).

About You
Experience within a similar role, or within the charity sector, would be great. However, we know that a lot of the most important skills in this role are transferable from jobs in other sectors, such as relationship development, account management and business development. We want the right person and we will invest in training the right candidate as necessary.
