An essential part of our Senior Leadership Team, the Head of Growth is responsible for managing our funding and partnership team, driving revenue growth, and expanding our network of supporters and collaborators.

Objectives

•To create and support opportunities to enable the growth of the Foundation through strategic planning and partnership development

•To oversee and manage the Partnerships and Funding teams within the Growth department

•To achieve the financial targets and outcomes within the Growth department, whilst contributing to the overall strategic direction and decision making of the charity.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Revenue diversification: Explore new programme opportunities and revenue streams to increase the sustainability of the charity

Innovation: Working with delivery and infrastructure departments, support the implementation of new growth initiatives

Team management: Support the Relationship Manager and the development of new partnerships / sponsorship for the Foundation, The Nest and Run Norwich

Securing funding: Support the Funding Manager and the development of funding applications, donations and showcasing our impact

Budget management: Achieve growth budgets and perform monthly income checks with the finance team

Project management: Play an active role in supporting new project design

Collaboration: To work with and support the Executive team with gaining and developing new opportunities through local authorities, statutory agents and third sector organisations

Contract management: To oversee and manage specific contracts and obligations that support income generation for the charity

Strategy management: Support Senior Leadership Team members to implement all initiatives within the Growth Strategy

Fundraising initiatives: Explore the use of technology to develop new income generation ideas and efficiencies within the organisation

Relationship management: Build relationships with key individuals, businesses, charities and local authorities who can support the growth of the Foundation

Compliance: Ensure relevant due diligence is in place with all external collaboration

Heritage of London Trust restores the buildings and monuments that tell the story of the city and the people who live within it. Founded over 40 years ago, our mission was to rescue characterful and neglected historic sites all across the city. We focus on sites at risk in areas of least investment - in local communities that most need our help - ensuring a sustainable future for every project we work on. To date, we have restored nearly 800 sites across London.

In 2020 we launched our ground-breaking Proud Places youth programme to inspire and  engage young people with the world around them, helping them develop knowledge and skills now and for the future. We work with mainstream schools across London and are the only UK heritage organisation to specialise in working with excluded pupils, young  people at risk of gang exploitation and young refugees. To date we have worked with 6,000 young people and the programme continues to expand.

As our programme work has grown, so has our team and investment into our fundraising capability. We are now looking for a dedicated fundraiser who will help us build on our relationship based fundraising activity to grow our income. The Head of Philanthropy is a new role reporting to the Chief Executive.

We have a great pipeline of corporate partners, opportunities with charitable foundations and attractive offers for our dedicated group of high-value supporters to experience our work up close. Our Board of Trustees are committed and well connected, many of them are generous personal donors. We steward our supporters through a series of high-quality events such as intimate lunches, VIP behind-the-scenes visits, site based workshops and expert-led conferences.

We are looking for a Head of Philanthropy who shares our ambition and drive and is excited to work closely with a dedicated and collaborative team while enjoying autonomy to build on our great work to date. Based in a vibrant newly developed impact-hub for charities who work with young people, this role will work in partnership with senior peers in communications and programmes, alongside a fundraising assistant and the Chief Executive, who herself was a professional fundraiser.

The Head of Philanthropy will play a pivotal role in fostering strong connections between the school and our alumni and parent community. We are entering the early stages of a new major philanthropic campaign, which will significantly scale the ambition for the school’s fundraising and engagement activity. Person Specification

The ideal candidate will need to:

• Be able to demonstrate a track record of securing, administering, and stewarding significant gifts from donors, or significant experience in leading income generation activity through regular giving programmes within the charitable sector.
• Work with the Head, Bursar, Director of Development, Foundation Trustees, and other senior colleagues and volunteers to research, plan and undertake donor cultivation and solicitation meetings.
• Maintain positive working relationships with all constituents in the King’s community, including alumni, parents, and pupils to encourage lifelong engagement through participation, advocacy, and support.
• Be a great problem solver with the ability to work laterally to identify opportunities and provide solutions to fundraising challenges.
• Work with the Director of Development on developing a methodical fundraising programme, ranging from regular contributions, through to major gifts and legacies. Implementing the development fundraising strategy to support the school’s vision and bursary ambitions.
• Be experienced in using donor and potential donor relationship management systems, for example Raiser’s Edge or ToucanTech.

Westway Trust is seeking a qualified accountant to join as our Head of Finance who will lead on all aspects of the finance function to achieve the Trusts goals.  You will also manage a small team and will offer strategic finance support across the range of activities undertaken by the organisation.

You will have significant experience operating at a senior level within a complex organisation and registered charity, and will possess the right blend and balance of strategic, communication, innovation and people skills.

Key responsibilities of the role include but not limited to:

• Lead, manage and improve the Trust’s finance function and provide accurate, timely and relevant financial reports as required by the CEO, Executive Team and the Trust Board.
• Be the Executive Lead of the Finance Audit and Risk Committee, ensuring timely papers to the CEO and to the Committee and Board as required and liaising with the Head of Governance and HR as required.
• Ensure the provision and reporting of financial accounts, forecasting and large-scale project/programme budgets, estate development plans, and the associated reporting.
• Oversight of the legal and financial statutory processes in line with the Charity Commission and Companies House requirements, including the Annual Audit. Allocating tasks for timely responses and keeping all colleagues abreast of progress.
• Monitor, cash flow, reserves, analysis of performance against the organisation’s annual business plan and dashboard as it relates to the finance function.
• Contribute to the overall leadership of the Trust and to the Trust’s future strategic and operational planning. Support Executive Team colleagues as required on the delivery of cross-team initiatives.
• Line management of the Senior Finance Manager, the Debt Recovery Consultant and the Development Partnerships Lead.

Essential Experience, Skills and Attributes:

• Significant and successful experience of operating as a Head of Finance, ideally in a charity setting.
• A track record of working collaboratively with a team to develop successful internal partnerships and achieve joint success against shared objectives.
• Experience of the finance function and all the associated processes, with strong attention to detail.
• Experience of implementing enhanced reporting tools within financial software, including the ability to coach others.
• Practical knowledge of VAT, including accounting of partial exemption relevant to charities.
• Experience of managing staff and supporting their development.
• Strong interpersonal skills for both workplace and external representation contexts, operating with enthusiasm, flexibility, energy and commitment and demonstrating credibility and gravitas.

Desirable Experience, Skills and Attributes:

• A good understanding of the local area.
• Experience of change management.
• Competency in use of Access Dimensions, Focal Point and other MS Office software packages.

Qualification:

• Must hold a formally recognised professional accounting qualification.

Overall Purpose of Job :

Required experience

The successful applicant will have at least 5 years fundraising experience as a Head of Fundraising, managing and leading a fundraising team. A strategic thinker with the ability to identify opportunities, set priorities and drive results, you will have experience in developing and sustaining funding streams using a variety of techniques to secure restricted and unrestricted funding, major gifts, grants, events, and corporate partnerships; combined with exceptional communication skills to engage and inspire donors, volunteers and stakeholders. You will be able to motivate and develop a high performing team, set targets, and promote a collaborative culture. You will care about social justice, environmental sustainability and food waste as these pillars underpin all UKHarvest activities. The role will be predominantly based in the UKHarvest Chichester Hub with regular visits to the Nourish Hub in London.

Our partner, a leading international charity, seeks an interim Head of FP&A. This is fixed term contract to the end of 2025.

Responsibilities

• Lead in the preparation of the organisational budget, and in monitoring the budget, working with regional heads of finance.
• Lead in monitoring the pipeline of funding, forecasting grant and other income flows, cashflows.
• Advise senior leadership on managing changes in cashflow and income, in allocation of surpluses/deficits, and cost savings.
• Lead on reviewing new funding opportunities, ensuring the accuracy of funding calculations, and in the contacting process for core funding.

About The Role

This is an incredibly exciting, high-impact role within the organisation. As Head of Fundraising you will be part of the Senior Leadership Team and our key fundraiser, critical fundraising strategist and have the scope to influence and shape our programmes.

You will be instrumental in driving income development and in leading fundraising initiatives with an emphasis on Trusts and Foundations, individual giving, major gift fundraising, corporate giving and statutory bodies such. You will nurture key relationships with existing donors and potential new supporters and build and manage a robust pipeline of supporters.

Responsibilities include:

Leadership, Strategy and Governance

• To be an active member of the Made in Hackney Senior Leadership Team, working together to galvanise the organisation behind our strategic plan.
• To contribute to strategic discussions on the future direction of the organisation.
• To participate and / or lead in team meetings as appropriate.
• To act as the lead staff team representative on the Strategy and Fundraising Board Sub-committee, actively contributing and working with Trustees, as well as attending Board meetings.

Fundraising and Development

• To co-design and write grant applications and secure grant funding from Trusts, Foundations or Corporate entities in line with our annual target (likely to be in the range of £400k-£500k).
• To work with the Partnerships Manager to secure Fundraising income from individual givers, major donors, Crowdfunding campaigns and other fundraising initiatives in line with our annual target (likely to be in the range of £200k).
• To develop and execute an annual fundraising strategy: building a sustainable portfolio consisting of grants and donations from individuals, corporates, trusts and foundations, to ensure long-term sustainable funding of activities.
• To research and prospect future funders.
• To maintain precise and up-to-date records on current and potential supporters and prospects.
• To create engaging fundraising communication tools.
• To establish partnerships for joint programmes and funding bids where beneficial.

Donor stewardship & reporting

• To retain current donors and maximise fundraising opportunities, including delivering a programme of appropriate stewardship opportunities with the core team.
• To work with the team to co-design programmes and their evaluation requirements to ensure the organisation meets the grant funders' requirements. 
• To complete reporting to grant funders, including developing report templates, creating reports, case studies, and other administrative requirements. 

Communications

• To input into MIH’S communications strategy and the planning and implementation of improvements to marketing plans, digital presence and social media strategy to ensure impact and fundraising successes are communicated
• To maintain a stock of impact-focused case studies and success stories and ensure fundraising successes are communicated on social media and online.
• To ensure the robust monitoring and reporting on the effectiveness of fundraising strategies and campaigns; providing key input to the annual report and impact report.
• To coordinate fundraising events with the Community Partnerships Manager. 

Line Management

• To have direct line management responsibility for the Community Partnerships Manager and Social Media & Marketing Manager, creating a supportive environment for growth and development.

Job Title: Head of Employer Partnerships 

Reports to: Deputy CEO (but the role will also work in close collaboration with both the CEO and the Director of Programmes).

Location: Open to national flexibility on location. May occasionally need to attend our London office - Quantum House, 22 – 24 Red Lion Court, Fleet Street, EC4A 3AB.

Purpose: This is a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic professional to take the lead role in engaging employers, corporate funders, and professional networks and securing funded partnerships with them. This will provide essential income for the charity’s work with schools. It will also help the recruitment of skilled, diverse volunteers to support delivery of the charity’s innovative programmes for children and young people.

The postholder will work closely with our established employer networks and develop new networks; give leadership to a small team currently managing our partnerships and business development; and work collaboratively with an involved senior leadership team and further supportive colleagues right across the charity to achieve our aims.

Remuneration: £36k - £41k - depending upon experience. Pro rata depending on agreed full time equivalent hours of appointment (see below)

Key Accountabilities:

Identifying and securing new employer partnerships:

• Lead on identifying different opportunities to generate income growth for our charity, including ‘charity of the year’ partnerships and developing and promoting a range of attractive strategic opportunities for corporates/ employers looking to sponsor and fund our charity;
• Researching and developing a prospect pipeline, including spending time generating new leads and meeting clients, to support the development of new corporate partners and ensure that CRM information is continuously updated;
• From this pipeline, identify, contact, and pitch to prospective partners about the benefits to them of supporting the charity. Prepare and deliver compelling and evidence-based pitches and presentations including developing assets and proposals, reporting, credentials, and pitch decks to support income generation from employer partnerships;
• Generate awareness and visibility of the Education and Employers’ partnership proposition – e.g. delivering a regular series of virtual and face to face sessions to engage with new organisations and sell the benefits of Education and Employers corporate funded partnerships;
• Ensure these briefing sessions are supported by valued current partners who can outline the benefits they themselves have seen organisationally and at an individual employee level leading to the establishment of new partnerships and income from employers;
• Developing an advocates/trusted partner approach by ensuring we equip our trustees, staff, and close partners with organisational assets to share across their wider connections;
• To explore and engage with Social Value/CSR networks, consultancies, and professional bodies to be their programme/charity of choice to deliver social value programmes on behalf of their clients’/ members’ behalf;
• Stay up to date with trends in charity fundraising from corporate partnerships and review how charities in the wider sector are best succeeding in this area.

Establishing, negotiating, and managing new partnerships and further developing existing employer partnerships:

• Negotiating new funding partnerships with clients that are deliverable, cost-effective, and generate money in addition to the cost of managing the partnerships;
• Persistently and professionally following up with clients at different stages of interest, in order to move forward and hopefully convert these partnership discussions into signed contracts/ commitments – i.e. moving discussions along to ‘close the deal’;
• Building strong relationships through a stewardship programme to engage with partners in a variety of ways on a regular basis, in particular with existing partners that are not currently funding partners to transition them to a funded model;
• To work closely with the current Partnerships Manager to effectively handover all successful bids to the Partnership Manager to develop project plans and delivery timelines;
• Design and develop organisational wide project implementation tools and processes to ensure end to end project management supports consistency in delivery, tracking and evidencing impact to successfully achieve strategic priorities and secure new and ongoing funding sources;
• Ensure all contact development activity is recorded on our Customer Relationship Manager system (Salesforce) so that we have clear oversight of our contact history and touchpoints with employers and networks;

Team management and working with the SMT and wider charity to develop employer partnerships:

• Supporting with seeking out new funding opportunities and writing bids that support the organisation to meet it strategic aims including regularly reviewing funding and grants websites;
• Work with colleagues across the organisation to support and create engagement opportunities for corporate partners and prospects that align with our strategic plan;
• Work closely with the Communications Manager and Director of Schools Programmes to create innovative ways to engage new corporate partners, via local networks and social media.
• Future line management of the Employer & Business Development Manager;
• To work closely and proactively with SLT, stakeholder partners and trustees to support and enhance our collective work with employers and to ensure a joined up, strategic approach;

Other

• Represent Education and Employers and the Senior Management Team at external events and conferences as appropriate;
•  Other ad hoc duties as required.

Essential

• Demonstrable experience of generating income from researching, establishing, and developing employer and/ or professional organisation partnerships;
• Demonstrable experience of being target driven and experience of meeting either demanding income or delivery KPIs and targets.
• Demonstrable experience of managing the income generation pipeline right from approaching clients, to engaging them, and finally through to contracting with them to secure inward income and deliver their agreed objectives.

The Role

In this new role as a Development Surveyor at the Trust, you'll play an important part in advancing our Property Strategy, taking forward capital projects, in support of extending our charitable impact and growing our income to do so. Working closely with the Property Director, you'll lead multiple capital projects of differing scales and varying timelines, focusing on the redevelopment of rural assets, brownfield sites, and new developments focused on rural land and property.

Your expertise will be instrumental in managing relationships with partners, planning authorities, consultants and influential stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes. You'll be part of the Head Office-based Property team, with occasional travel to our rural landholdings across England.
