About FareShare Midlands

FareShare Midlands rescues good-quality surplus food and gets it to people experiencing hardship through hundreds of community organisations across the region. Last year, we redistributed more than 5,000 tonnes of food – the equivalent of 11 million meals – reaching around 60,000 people every week.

But our impact goes beyond food. We strengthen communities, create opportunities through our SkillsShare employability programmes, and help protect our planet by reducing food waste. Over the next three years, we aim to double the food we rescue and extend our impact across the Midlands.

Good food can do extraordinary things.

The Role

We are looking for a creative, enthusiastic and hands-on Digital Marketing Officer to join our Marketing & Communications team during an exciting period of growth and development for FareShare Midlands.

Working closely with the Senior Marketing & Communications Manager and colleagues across our MarComms, Fundraising and Corporate Partnerships teams, you will help us reach new audiences, tell compelling stories about our impact and inspire people and organisations to support our work.

This is a varied role with plenty of opportunity to develop your digital marketing skills. You will work across our website, social media, Google Ads, email marketing and digital campaigns, as well as helping us capture and share powerful video-led stories from across FareShare Midlands.

A particular focus will be supporting activity that helps generate the partnerships and resources needed to sustain and grow our impact. This includes individual fundraising, corporate partnerships, events and other campaigns designed to engage supporters and inspire action.

We don't expect you to be an expert in everything from day one. We're looking for someone with good digital marketing foundations, strong content and communication skills and the enthusiasm to develop further. You might already be particularly strong in social media, video, websites or digital campaigns and be looking for an opportunity to broaden your experience across the digital marketing mix.

You'll receive support from an experienced MarComms team, while having the opportunity to take ownership of your own activity and develop specialist skills in areas such as WordPress, Google Ads, digital fundraising and performance marketing.

This could be a great next step for someone who has gained practical digital marketing experience and is ready for a role where their work can make a visible difference.

Key Responsibilities

Digital Campaigns, Fundraising & Partnerships

  • Work with MarComms, Fundraising and Corporate Partnerships colleagues to plan and deliver engaging digital marketing activity.
  • Support fundraising campaigns and appeals, helping to attract new supporters and engage existing donors.
  • Develop digital content and campaigns to support corporate partnerships, lead generation and engagement with businesses.
  • Support the promotion of fundraising, corporate and other relevant events.
  • Help tailor messaging, content and calls to action for different audiences, including donors, businesses, partners and supporters.
  • Support integrated campaigns across website, social media, email, digital advertising and other communications channels.
  • Work with external agencies and partners on campaigns where appropriate.
  • Use campaign results and audience insight to understand what works and help improve future activity.

  • Support the day-to-day management and development of the FareShare Midlands website.
  • Create, edit and update website content, campaign pages and landing pages.
  • Help ensure website content is engaging, accessible, up to date and easy for different audiences to navigate.
  • Work with our external web/digital partners on technical developments and improvements where required.
  • Apply good practice in areas such as SEO, accessibility, user experience and conversion.
  • Use website analytics and audience behaviour to help identify opportunities for improvement.

Google Ads & Paid Digital

  • Support the day-to-day management of FareShare Midlands' Google Ads activity.
  • Help create, monitor and optimise campaigns supporting fundraising, corporate engagement and wider organisational priorities.
  • Monitor performance and use data to help improve targeting, messaging and results.
  • Support paid social advertising activity alongside organic social campaigns.
  • Work with colleagues and external partners where appropriate on digital acquisition and lead-generation campaigns.
  • Develop your knowledge and expertise in paid search and digital advertising, keeping up to date with new opportunities and good practice.

  • Create engaging content tailored to different platforms and audiences.
  • Help plan and schedule social media content around organisational priorities, campaigns and events.
  • Identify opportunities for timely, engaging and reactive content.
  • Support community engagement and help ensure appropriate and timely responses across our channels.
  • Contribute to both organic and paid social media campaigns.
  • Monitor performance and use insight to understand which content is working and how we can improve.
  • Keep abreast of platform developments, trends and emerging formats.

Video, Content & Impact Storytelling

  • Help identify and develop compelling stories that demonstrate the impact of FareShare Midlands' work.
  • Plan, coordinate, film and edit video content for social media, fundraising campaigns, corporate communications, the website and other digital channels.
  • Help organise filming opportunities, working with colleagues, community organisations, volunteers, supporters and other participants.
  • Create engaging short-form video content, as well as longer-form content where appropriate.
  • Work sensitively and confidently with people sharing their experiences and help ensure appropriate permissions and consent are in place.
  • Develop written impact stories, case studies, blogs and other digital content alongside video.
  • Ensure content is engaging, accessible, accurate and consistent with the FareShare Midlands brand.
  • Work alongside colleagues with specialist design skills to develop high-quality creative content and campaign materials.

Email Marketing & Supporter Journeys

  • Support email marketing activity for fundraising, corporate engagement and wider organisational campaigns.
  • Create and send engaging, targeted email communications.
  • Help grow and engage our email audiences.
  • Support the development of email sequences and automated journeys for acquisition, welcome, engagement, stewardship and retention.
  • Contribute to FareShare Midlands newsletters and other audience communications.
  • Monitor performance including open rates, click-throughs and conversions, using the results to help improve future activity.
  • Work with relevant colleagues to ensure supporter and marketing data is accurate, appropriately managed and used effectively.

Reporting & Continuous Improvement

  • Help monitor and evaluate digital marketing activity using tools including Google Analytics, Google Ads, social media insights, email marketing data, UTM tracking and campaign dashboards.
  • Contribute to setting appropriate measures and KPIs for campaigns.
  • Produce straightforward reports and insights that help the team understand performance.
  • Use data, audience insight and testing to identify opportunities to improve engagement and conversion.
  • Stay curious about developments in digital marketing, search, social media, AI and emerging technology and share relevant ideas and opportunities with the team.

Brand, Compliance & Collaboration

  • Act as a brand champion, helping to ensure consistency, accessibility and quality across digital communications.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across Marketing & Communications, Fundraising, Corporate Partnerships and the wider organisation.
  • Build positive relationships with colleagues and help delivery teams communicate their work effectively.
  • Ensure digital marketing and fundraising activity complies with GDPR, consent requirements and relevant good practice.
  • Support wider marketing and communications campaigns and activity as required.

What We're Looking For

  • Some practical experience of Google Ads or other paid digital advertising, with an interest in developing deeper expertise in campaign management and optimisation.
  • Experience supporting or delivering digital campaigns across a range of channels.
  • Experience using email marketing platforms.
  • Confidence using basic analytics and campaign performance information to understand what is working and where improvements can be made.
  • An understanding of how digital marketing can help organisations attract, engage and inspire different audiences to take action.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • A collaborative, proactive and flexible approach.
  • Commitment to FareShare Midlands' mission and values.
