About the role:
We began a contract with the Ministry of Justice in June 2021, delivering a pan London Housing Advice & Interventions Service, in partnership with St Mungo's. With Single Homeless Project staff co-located in probation offices, you will be working in close partnership with Probation Services, to support people on probation to either sustain their current accommodation or to secure new housing as needed.
We are seeking people who could deliver housing advice, guidance and support to clients. Working with a caseload in your local designated boroughs, you will produce comprehensive and high-quality assessments on their support needs; particularly their housing, employment and financial needs and follow the most suitable pathway for them.
We are also looking for people who are interested in working in this sector and with this client group. We encourage applications from those, who are also at the beginning of their career path - graduates and those with transferrable skills & experience.
About you:
- Some understanding of working in supported housing or floating support services, with a demonstrable knowledge of Housing and other related Legislation or a relevant qualification

- An understanding of the principles underlying a quality service, and customer focused, with proven ability to empower service users.

About this key role

Join an esteemed membership association as a Media and Communications Officer for a dynamic 12-month contract, working four days a week!
Your primary focus will be crafting and executing proactive and reactive print, online, and broadcast media campaigns to amplify the association's benefits. Additionally, you'll contribute to broader communications initiatives by planning and generating content across various platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive media campaigns to showcase the association's advantages through diverse media channels.
- Strategically engage with journalists to expand message reach, collaborating closely with subject matter experts.
- Craft and distribute timely press releases, comments, and statements.
- Compile media lists utilising media contacts platforms.
- Pitch and advocate compelling stories.
- Manage inbound media inquiries promptly and accurately, liaising with journalists and spokespeople.
- Coordinate media opportunities such as interviews and thought leadership features.
- Develop pitch angles, interview briefs, and Q&A materials.
- Maintain the Media Centre with the latest releases, coverage, and journalist information.
- Cultivate warm media contacts and draft media-related content.
- Collaborate with internal teams on forthcoming media prospects.
- Support spokesperson briefing and crisis media activities.
- Drive proactive media relations for annual Awards and specific campaigns.
- Collaborate with the Press Consultant and Digital Marketing Manager to execute a journalist-focused social media engagement strategy.
- Produce content for various communication channels including blogs, websites, newsletters, and social media platforms.
- Contribute to multi-channel campaign development and execution.
- Generate and publish digitally accessible content on the website (WordPress CMS – training provided).
Person Specification:
- Demonstrable experience in media relations at an officer level.
- Proficiency in crafting content for diverse audiences and platforms.
- Track record of successfully pitching stories to journalists with tenacity and follow-through.
- Strong written communication, proofreading skills, and attention to detail.

Founded in 1826, ZSL is a global NGO driven by science, working to restore wildlife in the UK and around the world by protecting critical species, restoring ecosystems, helping people and wildlife live together and inspiring support for nature. The work of ZSL is realised by carrying out field conservation and research in over 50 countries across the globe and through education and awareness-raising at two zoos.
This is an exciting time for ZSL as they look to expand their fundraising and development team, focussing on an ambitious programme of corporate, philanthropic, institutional and public fundraising. The newly expanded team will transform the future of ZSL.
The Head of Development and Supporter Operations will play a critical role in providing strategic leadership and operational excellence to development and supporter operations. With expertise in strategic fundraising strategy and operational excellence, the role will shape objectives and ambitions for significant income growth, contributing to ZSL's vision of ensuring people and wildlife thrive.
Key responsibilities
* You will lead and manage key senior operational roles within the Development and Supporter Operations department and hold relationships with key stakeholders across ZSL.
* You will implement a comprehensive strategy across all operations functions within the development team to support ZSL's strategic objectives for income growth.
* You will drive operational excellence across all functions, including donor stewardship, event management, prospect management, writing and project development, and data management, to enhance supporter engagement and maximise fundraising opportunities.
* You will establish performance metrics and KPIs to monitor the effectiveness of operational functions and conduct regular evaluations to identify areas for improvement and optimisation, driving continuous improvement initiatives.
* You will collaborate closely with ZSL's IT teams to ensure that data and systems requirements are met effectively to support fundraising operations and foster integration and alignment of operational functions with broader organisational goals and strategies.
The Head of Development and Supporter Operations will have proven experience in senior roles within the nonprofit sector with a focus on development operations and supporter engagement. The successful candidate will have excellent leadership and team management qualities with a track record in effectively leading and motivating teams to achieve organisational goals. You will have expertise in donor stewardship, event management, prospect management, fundraising writing, and data management. You will have experience in managing large-scale projects and implementing organisational change initiatives.
You will have excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills. As a strong strategic planner, you will be able to develop and implement effective operational strategies to support income growth. The ideal candidate will have a passion for wildlife conservation and environmental sustainability.
