Role Summary

In 2020/21, the Careers & Enterprise Company appointed its first ever Youth Board Member to the strategic board of directors, to give young people a decision-making voice. The CEC subsequently established a national Youth Advisory Group, to establish and embed an organisation wide approach to capturing Youth Voice, both for the purpose of driving impact and measuring the value of our work. This work has already had a huge impact on the company, and we are looking to embed Youth Voice still further into our work at a more strategic level.

The Youth Advisory Group has three primary functions across The Careers & Enterprise Company, to:

• Govern: challenge CEC’s work to consider youth voice
• Enrich: focus on the future of CEC's strategic direction
• Advise: mobilising their voice in key projects and priorities

The Careers & Enterprise Company is seeking to recruit an 18-month fixed term Youth Engagement Officer to support the administration, facilitation and delivery of youth engagement and participation across our organisation. The role will sit within the Education Development Team and work closely with our Youth Advisory Group and Youth Board members. You will work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation to champion youth voice and deliver high quality youth participation activities.

This new role has an exciting remit to develop practice, to innovate in youth voice practice, to lead on the operational delivery of the Youth Advisory Group and support with the strategic direction of this work. Reporting directly to the Education Manager responsible for youth voice, but also working effectively across the directorate and across the company, you will manage the delivery of various aspects of our operations including, but not limited to:

1. Effective project management – to ensure that CEC’s YAG has the greatest impact possible, you will work with colleagues from across the business, including at times the Careers Hub Network and put in place the right tools and processes for effective delivery of all elements of the youth voice. This may include establishing and managing relationships across teams, efficient reporting procedures and may extend to other areas of CEC’s ever evolving programme of work.
2. Innovate and design – CEC’s work, and the careers education landscape, is continually evolving. Responding to changing needs of the company, skills of the YAG members and proactively planning for project pivots, will be essential to success in this role. You will look for creative ways to strengthen youth voice across the company.

The Youth Engagement Officer will support the ongoing delivery of our Youth Advisory Group to ensure that young people bring their lived experience to meaningfully and authentically shape our work: from shaping our priorities and projects, through to supporting us to guide policy makers.

Programme Manager role

We are now looking for an enthusiastic and committed Programme Manager(s) to join our existing Programme Team in September 2024 on a full or part-time basis (6-month fixed-term with potential to extend).  As a Programme Manager, you will be responsible for managing the Yes Futures programmes in-person, in our partner primary and secondary schools in North London, Essex, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire & Buckinghamshire.

Main Responsibilities

You will be one of a small team of Programme Managers, dedicated to delivering excellent programmes which make a positive difference to the lives of students.  The main responsibilities of the Programme Manager role are:

Programme delivery

• Responsible for the care and wellbeing of all students in your schools on the programme;
• Communicating with parents where necessary during the programme, by email, letter and telephone;
• Planning and delivering whole-group workshops for students;
• Planning and delivering information and celebration events for students and parents;
• Facilitating the in-person and online volunteer coaching team to deliver student coaching sessions. As well as delivering coaching sessions to students, where required;
• Developing business and charity partnerships for day trips;
• Planning and delivering the day trips included in the programme;
• Supporting the planning and delivery of the Into the Wild residentials;
• Implementing discipline procedures, including reporting serious discipline issues;
• Implementing all necessary Health and Safety and Child Protection procedures, including recording and reporting any incidents;
• Ongoing communication with the school and Yes Futures head office regarding student engagement and progress.

Organisation and administration

• School onboarding, including ensuring that dates are planned, students are recruited and parental agreements are returned;
• Planning and organising the logistical elements of the programme (timetables, activities, sessions plans etc) through liaising with Yes Futures head office, school staff, businesses, charitable organisations and the rest of the Coaching team;
• Creation of Risk Assessments, parent letters and programme-related documents for schools;
• Sourcing materials needed for programme sessions, including lunches for trips;
• Assisting with finance and petty cash where required.

Management of volunteer Yes Futures Coaches

• Managing and developing the skills of your Coaching teams (usually 2-6 adults per school);
• Ongoing communication with your Coaching teams, to foster their enthusiasm and commitment;
• Supporting Coach recruitment for future programmes;
• Supporting the planning and delivery of training for Coaches;
• Maintaining accurate and secure records of Coaches’ personal information, absences, sickness and other relevant information.

Evaluation and reporting

• Facilitating the pre-, mid- and end of programme evaluations;
• Oversight and input of key student monitoring data and impact data;
• Debriefing and ongoing feedback collection from schools and Coaches;
• Ensure all work is carried out in an effective and timely manner to support continued high standards of the Yes Futures programmes.

Programme Managers will also be given the opportunity to support with other Head Office functions, including but not limited to:

• Strengthening our strategy, programme design and theory of change;
• Supporting the marketing of Yes Futures to new schools and customers;
• Developing our fundraising strategy through bid writing and other fundraising tasks;
• Establishing relationships with key partner organisations;
• Planning our future Ambassador offer and other pilot programmes.

Start date

Ideally, we are looking for a Programme Manager to start by late August/ early September in order to provide a comprehensive induction and handover prior to the next delivery cycle in September (though there may be some flexibility to accommodate the right candidate).

We are working with a membership body who are recruiting for an Educational Events Manager to join the team. You will manage a team of 4 who manage the annual cycle of educational events, you will also be responsible for the annual conference.

The Events Manager main responsibilities will be

• Work with the Head of Education and Events developing annual business plans, budgets, KPI's and pricing policies.

This is an opportunity to join Refuge as a Service Manager to support women and children who are impacted by domestic abuse and other gender-based crimes. In this role you will provide line management and support to staff who work with and help women and their children who have experienced domestic abuse and are staying in our Lambeth refuges. Our Lambeth refuges are culturally specific services for women and children of African and Caribbean heritage. Background

Chapter One is a dynamic, growing charity with a vision of a world in which all children have the literacy skills needed to thrive. Our mission is to close the reading gap by providing children with one-to-one support at the time they need it most. We work in eleven areas/regions of the UK and will support 3250 children in 2024-25.

Our unique Online Reading Volunteer programme pairs struggling five to seven-year old (KS1) readers with reading support volunteers who are working professionals. The volunteer ask is very focused: readers commit 30 minutes a week to read with a child using a bespoke digital platform for an entire academic year. The results are transformative, boosting children's reading confidence and ability.

From a school perspective, online reading volunteers provide direct, meaningful literacy support for up to 10 pupils per class. The programme is particularly suitable for communities where it might be challenging to find parents and other volunteers who can commit to physically visiting schools to boost reading.

Job Summary

Chapter One is seeking a London Programme Manager who is an excellent communicator and is able both to motivate and support schools and teachers to implement our online reading volunteers programme, and also to ensure that the programme’s impact and benefit to disadvantaged communities is maximised throughout the academic year.

The post is ideal for someone looking for part-time, flexible, term-time only work from a home base and who is able to travel frequently around London. Chapter One currently works in the following London boroughs: Barnet, Camden, Haringey, Islington, Lambeth, Newham, Tower Hamlets, Southwark. The postholder will be joining a team of established Programme Managers (also part-time) who work in different parts of the UK and will need to have some flexibility to work additional hours during busy autumn months, and conversely to work fewer hours during quieter periods of the year.

Key Responsibilities:

• Effectively explain Chapter One’s online reading volunteer programme and its benefits to school leaders and teachers

• Install, setup and maintain Chapter One equipment in participating classrooms

• Fully understand the operation of the Chapter One platform and database and communicate this to others

• Organise and conduct initial teacher training and follow-up

• Ensure a smooth initial launch of Chapter One’s programme in every classroom

• Liaise with colleagues performing technical and volunteer support roles

• Through regular visits to/contact with schools, provide on-going embedded professional learning and support to teachers throughout the year as needed

• Proactively monitor classroom adherence/fidelity to the Chapter One model, including systematic review of data reports and volunteer feedback, taking proactive action to resolve problems that arise

• Analyse and manipulate data (largely in Google sheets) to produce reports and identify trends

• Create monthly data summaries for all participating classrooms

• Lead annual review meetings for senior leadership at participating schools

• Support programme monitoring, evaluation and research as required

• Coordinate in person and virtual school ‘visits’ of volunteer teams to classrooms where necessary

• Liaison with corporate partners as required

• Weekly communication and status updates with Senior Programme Manager(s) and wider team

• As a new school year approaches, secure commitments from returning schools and find and target new schools to join Chapter One’s programme

Role Requirements:

ABOUT THE ROLE

We have an opportunity for a dedicated person centred Deputy Manager to join the team in Brent. You will be responsible for working alongside the Service Manager (SM) to deliver high quality, trauma-informed services to residents and participants, with a focus on recovery reablement, rehabilitation, and ensuring a psychologically informed environment (PIE). ABOUT THE SERVICE

Synergy, Brent is a Housing Related Support (HRS) Service for a range of vulnerable people who have been or are at risk of homelessness. The age eligibility criteria for the service is adults between the ages of 18 to 60, who are identified to have low/medium support needs. Some of the needs we support are:

• Single homeless between ages of 18 to 60
• Socially excluded individuals
• Ex-Offenders
• People with substance misuse
• Mental Health (Low)
• Learning disability (Low/Medium)
• Women who have come from domestic abuse environments and situations who may need low level support as part of their resettlement following a move on from a refuge or other safe domestic abuse supported accommodation.

OVERVIEW OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

LINE MANAGEMENT/LEADERSHIP

• Provide leadership to employees throughout the employee life cycle. This includes but is not limited to; Recruitment, onboarding, inductions, probation reviews, support and supervision, employee relations, performance, learning and development, staff wellbeing and support, grievances, sickness, disciplinaries, retention and other areas which fall within the employee lifecycle.

SERVICE DELIVERY

• Support the Service Manager with the day-to-day operational delivery of the service and work directly with colleagues, residents, participants, and other stakeholders to provide a high-quality, holistic service which meets the presenting needs of all relevant stakeholders.
• Ensure service responsibilities and requirements are carried out effectively. This includes but is not limited to; welfare checks, risk assessments, support sessions, safeguarding checks, training and development, and other responsibilities required for effective service delivery.
• Support the Service Manager to ensure the service and team meet and exceed Key Performance Indicators, and work in line with professional codes of conduct.
• In conjunction with the Service Manager, facilitate a program of continuous improvement in an environment where residents and participants are cared for, supported, and have access to resources they need to achieve positive and sustainable outcomes.
• Empower residents and participants to make decisions to take control over their lives, by creating an enabling environment.

RISK MANAGEMENT, INFORMATION MANAGEMENT AND CASE RECORDING

• Follow the relevant risk assessment and management procedures, share any relevant information with partner agencies as appropriate.
• Ensure all case recording, and information is accurately recorded in a timely manner, ensuring electronic records are protected in line with GDPR, and kept up to date and written to a high standard.
• Alongside the Service Manager, champion, and act as a point of reference for safeguarding concerns within the service(s). Ensure all staff attend relevant safeguarding and training and use knowledge to coach and advise the team.

PROPERTY AND HOUSING MANAGEMENT

• Create and manage a welcoming, psychologically informed home environment for residents and participants, ensuring a continuous focus on safety, health, and wellbeing.
• Ensure the accommodation in which residents live is maintained to a high standard, in line with SIG’s property standards and meets all legal and statutory health and fire safety requirements to operate safely, effectively, and efficiently.
• Ensure all repairs and maintenance issues are correctly reported and managed through to completion.

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT

• Provide support in setting the service’s budget and reviewing monthly management accounts; manage set budgets effectively and ensure resources are maximized.
• Maintain financial management within the service, including but not limited to, invoice management, arrears management, management of petty cash, and expense claims.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

• Contract Management and Internal Auditing; Ensure due diligence is carried out and records are well maintained.
• Administration duties will vary, including operating online systems and ensuring correct processes are followed alongside GDPR and confidentiality.
• Other duties may include but are not limited to, maintaining clean and tidy environments, removing rubbish, ordering supplies, arranging in house events and activities and other general on-site duties.

Other responsibilities than those described above may be required to be undertaken from time to time and will be expected to be performed to as long as it is within the capability and level of the position. 

KEY CRITERIA

What we are looking for:

• Understanding and/or experience of working with people of complex backgrounds, ex-offenders, mental health, substance misuse, challenging behaviours
• Experience of working with and engaging with diverse groups of people from varying backgrounds
• IT Proficiency, including Microsoft Office, and the ability to navigate and learn new case management systems and other types of organisational software
• Understanding and/or practical knowledge of the social and societal marginalisation that can be attached to people with mental health issues, addiction, exploitation, homelessness and within the criminal justice system
• Ability to promote the service and provide outreach-based provision, with an ability to liaise and work effectively in partnership with stakeholders
• Ability to follow organisational policies and process in line with external governance

What we would like, but not essential:

• Previous experience in people management and development
• Understanding, knowledge, and/or practical application of key legislation – Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, Mental Health, Criminal Justice, Social Care, and Housing, and Health, Safety and Environment

The Preclinical Research Manager will be responsible for overseeing the generation of research related content for the CP research team and interacting with the research community to provide support and advice in their projects. 

The Main Purpose of the Role:

The Preclinical Research Manager will be responsible for overseeing the generation of research related content for the CP research team and interacting with the research community to provide support and advice in their projects (either being considered or funded by the charity).

Key Responsibilities:

• Working closely with the Director of Research whose main responsibility is the implementation and delivery of the Cure Parkinson’s research strategy.
• Generating Parkinson’s research-related material for a scientific audience, including:
  • Research reports for publication in scientific journals (such as our annual Drug Development Pipeline report – McFarthing et al, 2023).
  • Long format scientific justifications for CP funded clinical trials for the CP website.
  • Short format lay summaries of new research (with the Research Liaison and Research Communication Officers) for various CP platforms.
  • Preparation of posters of CP research for presentation at conferences (with the Research Comms Officer).
  • Facilitating the Research Liaison Officer’s development within this area.
• Regular monitoring of publications and developments in Parkinson’s research, communicating these topics internally to help generate relevant material for the CP website (with the Research Comms Officer and Marketing team).
• Supporting the Director of Research with the scoping, drafting and shaping of drug dossiers for consideration at the annual international Linked Clinical Trials (iLCT) meeting.
• Working with the Director of Research and the Research Manager to develop and coordinate the annual iLCT Pipeline Research Acceleration Funding Programme call.
• Working with the Director of Research and the Research Manager to scope and develop a researcher portal for sharing non-confidential iLCT material.
• Leading on the development of scientific events, workshops and meetings (such as CP’s quarterly webinar series with the Journal of Parkinson’s Disease).

Person Specifications:

The successful applicant will need to work closely with other sections of the charity to understand and support the research needs of the organisation as a whole. For their primary function, they will ideally have:

• A PhD with experience in preclinical research related to Parkinson’s or neurodegeneration.
• A strong understanding of Parkinson’s disease biology and the current preclinical models (in vitro and in vivo) used to investigate it.
• Knowledge of the broader Parkinson’s research field, such as genetics, potential therapeutic targets and drugs currently in development.
• Significant experience in the management and leadership of group projects.
• Experience in the setting up and management of meeting and events.
• Excellent communication skills with experience in presenting at both academic meetings and to general audiences, across in-person and virtual formats.
• Solid problem solving skills across varied settings.

• Good Law Project is a not-for-profit campaign organisation which uses the law to hold power to account, protect the environment and ensure no one is left behind.

• We had a primary role in overturning the prorogation of Parliament in 2019. The Catalyst Collective is an innovative and rapidly growing non-profit organisation. Since our pilot programme launched in January 2021, we have expanded significantly. Role Purpose

The main purpose of the programmes team is to grow, develop and deliver all aspects of the day-to-day relationship management of:

· Schools and colleges running the Career Ready programme

· Local employer supporters, corporate partners supporters, other key local stakeholders and networks

Each Regional Manager is responsible for a local patch which currently typically consists of 5-6 schools or colleges, up to 100 students and 4-5 operational relationships with our corporate partners. Regional Managers will also be responsible for building and maintaining a local network of employer supporters and seeking opportunities for new employer support ..

There will be opportunities to be creative, as well as being autonomous in how you run and develop the programme with the Career Ready schools and colleges in your area.

Main responsibilities and accountabilities

Centre Management and Student Support

· You will work 1:1 with our community of school/college coordinators in your region to support them in delivering the programme. This will require regular meetings and communication, to support coordinators with the planning and managing of masterclasses, workplace visits and other Career Ready events for students and volunteers

· Regularly communicate and report to the Head of Programmes  

· Execute our strategy across the region

· Support schools and colleges in programme onboarding (students and mentors) and delivery of paid internships

· From time to time there may be a need to deliver sessions to skills and careers leads and to groups of young people within the school and college setting

· Recruit new schools and colleges to the network from the region in accordance with priority target areas. Manage their induction, training, activities prior to launch and implementation of the Career Ready programme

· Assist schools and colleges on our programmes to plan, manage and run events (i.e. icebreakers, launches, or student promotion sessions) and be prepared to present at such events.

Partnership Management, Stakeholder Engagement & Business Development

· Day-to-day operational account management for employer supporters, ensuring they have excellent experiences.

· Full partnership and operational account management for lower-level funders in your region.

o Directly pursuing a prioritised list of prospect funders in your region in line with our organisational strategy. This work will be supported by Partnership Managers and Head of Programmes  

o Using our SME Internship Investment Fund, seek small and medium sized businesses to provide a mentor and host an intern, seeking as much match funding as possible (e.g., we pay for 1 internship and you pay for 1; 50% of internship funded_

o Support engagement, experience and deliver on the programme commitments to corporate partners in your area.

o Support the Head of Programmes and Partnership Manager with programme reporting requirements specific to corporate partners, trusts and foundations

General

· Promote a commitment to high standards of service, and to equality of opportunity through leadership and good practice.
