Job description

Human Resources Officer (Programmes)

Manchester City Centre

Starting salary for this position is £25,272 per annum (plus contributory pension)

MAG saves lives and builds futures by working with others to reclaim land contaminated with the debris of conflict, to reduce the daily risk of death or injury for civilians, and to create safe and secure conditions for development. MAG shared the 1997 Nobel Peace Prize as a founding member of the International Campaign to Ban Landmines for our work to ban landmines. Our vision is a safe and secure future for men, women and children affected by armed violence and conflict.

We are seeking an HR Officer to join our Human Resources team, which provides support and advice to MAG’s employees working in over 25 countries across the world. This is an exciting and dynamic role, where your HR skills and experience will help us make a real difference, supporting our lifesaving work across the globe, all from a fantastic office in Manchester city centre!

Based in our Manchester HQ office, but working with managers based overseas, one of your key challenges will be to source, recruit and deploy staff to meet project needs. You will also have responsibility for providing generalist HR advice on terms and conditions and the application of HR policy.  You will also have the opportunity to use your HR skills and knowledge in developing and implementing new HR projects and initiatives.  This is a fast-paced role in a dynamic HR team, which will require high levels of initiative, pro-activeness and strong multi-tasking skills and give you the opportunity to use your HR experience for an international charity.

Ideally you will be a graduate member of the CIPD or working towards it, with experience in a generalist HR role.  You will need to have experience of providing an efficient recruitment service and providing advice on a range of HR issues. Previous experience of working in international HR is not necessary, but you will need to rely on your varied HR resourcing experience and sound principles of people management.  Above all, you will need to be approachable, flexible, have a good eye for detail and be ready to work in a busy and varied role in a fast-paced environment. You will also recognise that good HR practice can make a real difference to MAG’s success in saving lives and building futures.

Please note that as part of MAG's commitment to safeguarding, this post is subject to background checks before an offer of employment is confirmed.

Diversity, equality, and inclusion matter to MAG. If you think you would be suited to one of our roles, we would welcome your application regardless of age, disability status, ethnicity, gender, religion or sexual orientation. We strive to provide an inclusive and supportive working environment where all employees feel respected and supported in fulfilling their potential.

For further information and details of how to apply, please visit our website by the closing date of 1st March 2020. Although we do reserve the right to call qualified candidates to interview before this date, so please apply as soon as possible.

Applicants who are non-residents of the UK will need to provide documentary evidence of their eligibility to work in the UK.
