This is a hybrid role, and only requiring a minimum of one day a week in their main office which is a short walk from Old Street Station (National Rail) and Angel Station (London Underground). • Deliver fit-for-purpose HR services, including people management strategies, performance development, and employment relations advice.

I am urgently seeking an experienced AD of People,Equity & Culture to cover a 10 to 12 month period of maternity leave at a renowned Charity based in East London, to start ASAP. Further core objectives include leading the drafting of new/revisions to people policies, consultation and negotiation with relevant stakeholders, and the communication and embedding of new/revised practices across the workforce. The Senior People Partner will further build and maintain effective working relationships with the senior leadership team, acting as an expert strategic adviser on a range of employee relations matters and as a point of escalation for employee relations enquiries emerging from other teams, actively coaching, supporting, and mentoring colleagues to grow team capability and support development. 

The successful candidate will have proven experience in managing an HR case work portfolio, which includes conducting discipline and grievance investigations, hearings and appeals, and ACAS Early Conciliation and Employment Tribunals, as well as overseeing attendance and performance management processes. Established success in coaching managers and leaders on various HR matters is essential to this role, empowering them to manage risk, resolve conflict, support their team members to excel at work, and foster cohesion and trust within a hybrid workforce. The postholder will have experience and interest in managing employee wellbeing and diversity and inclusion initiatives; be CIPD qualified; have excellent and adaptable organisation, communication and interpersonal skills; and will enjoy working with a variety of people, with a strong ability to listen effectively.

This is a full-time, permanent role in Band 4 – Senior Management and Senior Specialists. Core hours of work will be 36 per week, working 5 days between the hours of 9am-5pm, although due to the nature of the work, some flexibility may be required.

Established in 1985, Muslim Aid has facilitated the engagement of the British Muslim and non-Muslim community in support of its work in a variety of ways. Over the years, its humanitarian work has included responses to major crises around the world including, famine in East Africa, earthquakes and flooding in Pakistan and Bangladesh as well as conflicts in Syria and Yemen. 

We place strong emphasis on long-term development projects that build the capacity of local people helping themselves. In addition to the 5 country offices worldwide we also work with multiple partner offices focusing on sustainable Development Programmes and providing humanitarian relief during times of crisis.

Summary of the role:

The HR Officer will be responsible for providing support to the Senior HR Business Partner and the wider People and Culture team in the delivery of HR services. The role will focus on a range of HR activities including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, aspects of payroll, L&D, travel logistics and other generalist HR duties. A key part of the role will be to provide support in identifying, attracting, and hiring top talent to meet all Muslim Aid’s staffing needs.  

About the Role:

1. Ensure a smooth, efficient and welcoming onboarding and probation process for new employees.  
2. Facilitate the recruitment process by assisting hiring managers in meeting departmental needs. Responsibilities include crafting job descriptions, posting ads, screening candidates, and conducting interviews.
3. Provide advice and guidance to employees on HR policies and procedures.
4. Prepare payroll amendment sheets for UK and International staff.
5. Assist with performance management processes and employee relations issues.
6. Support HR analytics requirements to track performance metrics.

About You:

To be successful in this role you will need:

1. Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field.
2. Proven experience in a generalist HR role, in particular recruitment and employee relations.
3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively at all levels.
4.  Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively.
5. Knowledge of recruitment techniques and good practices.
6. Sound knowledge of employment legislation and HR good practices.
