The Brent Centre for Young People 

The Brent Centre for Young People (BCYP) is the leading mental health charity for young people in Northwest London, helping over 800 young people a year with a wide range of issues. The Role

As HR Officer, you will play a role in bringing structure, consistency and clarity to Brent Centre’s HR processes. You will deliver practical, people-focused support across the employee lifecycle, from recruitment, onboarding to contract changes, developing and updating organisational policies, helping to strengthen and develop how HR supports colleagues across the organisation.

Working closely with the Administration and Finance Manager, you will act as the first point of contact for day-to-day HR queries, ensuring they are handled promptly, accurately and in line with Brent Centre’s values. Background to the role  

Our Head of People is currently on Maternity leave until February 2027. During this period, we are strengthening the People function and are seeking an HR Officer to support the interim Head of People to deliver effective support while we align our staff and volunteering processes; this role will support both areas with a focus on HR.

Employment Details 

Contract type

Salary

Responsibilities 

Reward 

• Co-ordinate the preparation, renewal and filing of contracts. Monitor and manage risks related to employment terms and conditions. 

• Assist in addressing issues involving benefits, leave, taxation, social security and immigration/domestic legislation requirements. 

• Provide HR
  support to the Resource Centre's four registered locations (UK - headquarters, Germany, USA, and Colombia), and the other locations where we have consultants.

Employee Relations 

• Advise and work with line managers to manage employee relations in line with current legislation and best practice. 

• Co-develop resolution strategies to address concerns and grievances raised by the global team. 

Human Resource Policy and Systems 

• Work with the COO to continuously review, improve and update HR policies and systems in line with our values and legislation. 

• Ensure best practise in HR systems, databases and processes are maintained and monitored across the organisation. 

• Manage aspects of GDPR compliance relating to employees and consultants. 

Nurture Teams and Talent 

• With the COO, lead the development of employee engagement and retention strategies. 

• Assess learning needs across the organisation and collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement learning solutions and professional development for individuals and teams. 

• Support the performance management and review processes and work with line managers on the performance development plans of team members. 

Recruitment 

• Work with the recruiting manager to coordinate the employee and consultant recruitment process, including setting terms & conditions. 

• Organise job listings and interviews and support managers to provide a robust induction programme for appointees. 

Risk Management 

• Proactively identify risks within our HR policies and systems and develop strategies to mitigate them.

The Human Resources Business Partner will lead all aspects of HR across ParalympicsGB and oversee the design, coordination, and delivery of learning and development (L&D) for a workforce of approximately 50 employees.

REPORTS TO: Head of Governance, Planning, and Risk

TYPE OF CONTRACT: 12-Month Fixed Term

SALARY BAND: £54,000 - £60,000 (Pro Rata) dependent on professional qualifications and experience

HOURS OF WORK: Part-Time, 22.5 hours per week (0.6 FTE). Fixed Working Days – Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday.

LOCATION: London (Hybrid arrangements available in line with organisational policy).

This role is central to ensuring that ParalympicsGB maintains a positive, high performing culture, underpinned by effective people management, robust HR processes, and meaningful development opportunities for all staff.

Working three days per week (0.6 FTE), the postholder will act as the organisation’s primary HR contact, providing expert guidance to Directors, Heads of Department and Managers, and ensuring compliance with current UK employment legislation and best practice, supported by continuous professional development.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Human Resources Management

· Serve as the first point of contact for all HR matters across the organisation, providing expert advice and support to managers on: employee relations, performance, conduct, absence, wellbeing, family-friendly accommodations (e.g. flexible working requests).

· Manage HR casework as it arises, ensuring timely, fair and legally compliant resolution.

· Ensure compliance with employment law, safeguarding requirements and internal governance standards; appropriately maintaining and updating HR policies, procedures, and employee records.

JOB TITLE:HR Coordinator

MAIN PURPOSE & SCOPE OF THE ROLE:

The HR Coordinator will provide specialist and proactive support to other departments within the charity to ensure organisational compliance in all relevant areas relating to HR.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Reporting to the People Engagement Manager, you will be supporting the Charity to set and deliver on its People Strategy. You will be responsible for providing operational HR services, advice, and guidance with a primary focus on HR transactions, employee relations management, engagement, recruitment and performance management.  You will identify, analyse and utilise HR data to inform decision making and identify more efficient ways of working.

ABOUT THE ROLE

• You will lead the development and implementation of a best practice approach to recruitment.
• You will advise managers on best practice techniques for monthly one-to-one meetings and annual appraisals to ensure staff feel confident to openly discuss challenges as well as successes.
• You will review and update our existing HR policies and procedures, ensuring they not only comply with current HR law but importantly promote best practice.

Responsibilities of the Role

• Maintain all HR policies and procedures ensuring they are regularly reviewed and updated to reflect relevant legislation and best practice.
