Purpose of the role

Due to the rapid expansion of Day One Trauma Support and the launch of our three-year strategy, the charity’s infrastructure has needed to respond quickly to meet its changing demands. There is now a requirement to ensure that the HR Department has the right skill set and capacity to provide the support needed by the charity in an efficient and proactive way. 

The HR Administrator role is a newly created position to reflect the growing HR needs of the charity as the workforce expands. This is a key role which is instrumental in supporting the HR administration function at an operational level, along with providing general administrative support to the HR Manager and wider team as required to help ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the charity. 

Reporting to the HR Manager and assisted by an external HR and Employment Law support service (WorkNest), this role will provide efficient and confidential administrative support across all areas of human resources. This includes recruitment, onboarding, record management, payroll support, and ensuring HR processes are compliant with employment legislation and charity policies. 

This role is ideal for someone with strong administrative skills who enjoys working in a collaborative, values-driven environment.

Key responsibilites

HR Administration  

• Take ownership of the HR software to ensure all HR documentation and records are accurate, up to date at all times and in line with Day One policies, procedures and GDPR, including retention periods for ex-employees. 

• Oversee the recruitment, selection and induction process for all new appointments. Including posting vacancies, scheduling virtual and in-person interviews, and communicating with candidates. 

• Process and coordinate all pre-employment checks for new hires, including DBS checks, right to work verification, reference checks, and any other safeguarding or compliance requirements, ensuring all documentation is completed accurately, securely stored, and compliant with employment legislation and organisational policies. 

• Administer honorary contracts and associated documentation with NHS Trusts where required, liaising with relevant departments to ensure agreements, compliance checks, and onboarding requirements are completed accurately and in a timely manner, in line with NHS and organisational policies and procedures. 

• Manage and maintain HR SharePoint folders and electronic HR records, ensuring documentation is accurately uploaded, securely stored, regularly updated, and easily accessible in line with GDPR, data protection requirements, and organisational record management procedures. 

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, ensuring all changes relating to contracts, job titles, salaries, working hours, absence, and personal details are promptly recorded within the HR system in line with organisational procedures and data protection requirements. 

• Prepare and issue employment contracts, offer letters, and onboarding documentation, ensuring all paperwork is accurate, compliant with organisational policies and employment legislation, and completed in a timely manner to support a smooth onboarding experience for new starters. 

• Handle employment and character reference requests in a timely, professional, and confidential manner, ensuring all information provided is accurate, compliant with data protection requirements, and in line with organisational policy and safer recruitment practices. 

• Prepare and issue contractual amendment letters, ensuring all changes to terms and conditions of employment are accurately documented, clearly communicated, and processed in line with organisational policies and employment legislation, and that employee records are updated accordingly. 

• Oversee the employee offboarding process, ensuring all leaving procedures are completed efficiently and professionally, coordinating final documentation, recovering organisational property and system access, and maintaining accurate records to support organisational learning and continuous improvement. 

• Process a range of HR documentation relating to employee absence, annual leave, performance reviews, and changes to employment status, ensuring all records are accurately maintained, promptly updated on the HR system.

• Support monthly payroll administration by ensuring accurate and timely provision of employee data to the Finance department, including updates on new starters, leavers, contractual changes, absences, and other relevant payroll information, in line with agreed deadlines. 

• Monitor the HR inbox on a daily basis, responding promptly and professionally to queries relating to HR administration, and escalating more complex or sensitive matters to the HR Manager or appropriate lead as necessary, ensuring all communications are handled in line with confidentiality. 

• Coordinate the scheduling and delivery of training sessions, including liaising with external trainers, booking venues or virtual platforms, and communicating with attendees. Maintain accurate training records and track employee certifications, ensuring compliance requirements are met and records are kept up to date in line with organisational policies. 

• Provide administrative support for disciplinary, grievance, and performance management processes, including arranging meetings, preparing documentation, and accurately taking and distributing meeting minutes where required, ensuring all records are handled confidentially. 

• Support the HR Manager prepare HR reports, metrics, and correspondence as requested in a clear and accurate format. 

• Assist in the organisation and coordination of whole-organisation in-person team days, including booking suitable venues, arranging catering and refreshments, coordinating activities, and supporting logistics to ensure smooth delivery and a positive staff experience. 

• Support the HR Manager with the planning and delivery of employee engagement initiatives and wellbeing activities, helping to foster a positive organisational culture by assisting with events, communications, and activities that promote staff wellbeing, inclusion, and morale. 

• Prepare and send a monthly staff newsletter, working closely with colleagues across departments to gather content, ensuring information is accurate, engaging, and timely, and supporting effective internal communication across the organisation. 

• Responsible for supporting the data input into the HRIS and any further developments of the system. 

General Office Administration and Operational Support

• Provide general administrative support to the HR Manager and wider team as required. 

• Help coordinate office supplies, equipment, and routine operational requirements. 

• Assist with arranging meetings, preparing documentation, and taking notes where required. 

• Respond to telephone, email, and visitor enquiries, directing queries appropriately when required. 

• Assist with practical operational matters to help ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the charity. 

• Undertake other reasonable administrative and operational duties commensurate with the role. 

General

• Build awareness of the charity’s purpose through building strong and effective relationships with external stakeholders. 

• Be prepared to travel across the region and, on occasion, to other sites and national meetings as required. 

• Willingness to undertake continuous development and training for the role, including mandatory Day One and role specific training. 

• Additional ad hoc duties as and when required.

Liberty is looking for a creative and strategic lawyer to join its legal team as a legal team manager.  Strategic litigation is core to Liberty’s work.  Our lawyers work closely with the rest of the organisation using casework and legal advice to help Liberty reach its strategic goals. You will be responsible for running a small caseload of strategic litigation, conducting interventions and providing specialist human rights advice.  A large part of the role is identifying and then scoping potential cases, working closely with other organisations to develop the litigation in a collaborative and creative way. 

In addition to your legal work, you will line manage another lawyer in the team, one of our paralegals and our legal information officer, who leads Liberty’s legal education work.  The management of the team as a whole will be shared between the Head of Legal, the current legal team manager and you. VIDERE

Videre is an award-winning, UK-registered NGO that exposes human rights abuses and holds perpetrators to account. We work directly with communities in stressed environments, equipping networks of activists and community leaders with the technology and training necessary to safely capture visual documentation of political violence, human rights violations, and other systemic abuses. Our aim is to ensure that the concerns and knowledge of affected communities drive advocacy, policy, and legal action.

POSITION SUMMARY

This is a critical senior role in the organisation, reporting to the Senior Director-Programming. The role is responsible for managing the organisation’s programmes across 2 locations in Sub Saharan Africa and South East Asia, line managing three people. The position provides leadership on direct programming for community-led investigations and evidence gathering as well as our CSO partnership programme in two geographies. The Head of Programmes works closely with the Senior Management Team (SMT) on critical areas including fundraising and strategic development.   

The priority for this role is the safe and high quality performance of projects. The balance between ‘doing’ and ‘managing’ in this role varies depending on available resources for each project, and the ability to create competent teams to delegate to.

Location: UK, France, Nairobi or Thailand preferred. Remote applicants considered.

Package: Pay is dependent on location.  The UK salary of £62,000 plus pension contribution will be converted using ICSC scales. All locations receive 28 days annual leave, counselling support and annual wellbeing days.

Start date: 1st September

Duration: 7 months with possibility of extension

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Programme Leadership and Delivery

• Working closely with the Senior Director- Programming, lead the development and implementation of programme strategy and annual plans, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives and priorities.
• Provide strategic and operational leadership to the Project Teams for both direct investigations and local CSO partnerships, ensuring programmes are delivered safely, effectively and to a high standard.
• Act as a member of the Management Team, contributing to organisational planning, decision-making, continuous improvement and cross-organisational initiatives. 
• Work closely with the Senior Director – Programming and other colleagues to identify organisational risks, opportunities and areas for improvement.

Civil Society Partnerships and Capacity Strengthening

• Provide strategic oversight of the organisation’s civil society partnership portfolio and approach in two geographic areas.
• Oversee staff responsible for partnership implementation to design, implement and continuously improve partnership and capacity strengthening activities, ensuring they have the guidance, resources and support required to deliver high-quality work.
• Ensure partnership activities are aligned with programme objectives, organisational strategy and donor commitments.
• Contribute to the development of organisational methodologies, learning and good practice relating to partnership working and capacity strengthening.

People Leadership

• Lead, support and develop a high-performing, inclusive and collaborative team culture.
• Provide ongoing management, coaching and mentoring to direct reports, including through annual performance reviews and regular development conversations.
• Support staff wellbeing and duty of care, ensuring teams have access to appropriate support and resources.
• Work with managers and staff to identify and facilitate learning and professional development opportunities.

Financial Management

• Oversee programme budgets and spending strategies, ensuring resources are managed effectively and in line with organisational priorities.
• Monitor programme expenditure and forecasts, ensuring appropriate financial oversight and accountability.
• Ensure compliance with organisational financial procedures, procurement requirements and donor regulations.
• Support the development of programme budgets for new funding proposals and organisational planning processes.

Security, Risk and Compliance

• Contribute actively to organisational security and risk management processes.
• Ensure programme activities are delivered in accordance with organisational policies, security procedures and compliance requirements.
• Support teams to identify, assess and manage operational, programmatic and security risks.
• Maintain oversight of security considerations affecting staff, investigators, partners and programme participants.
• Promote a culture of risk awareness, responsible decision-making and proactive risk management.
• Ensure the safety and quality of operational practices, including data collection, information management, secure data storage and transfer.

Skills, Experience and Characteristics

Essential

• Professional writing and speaking in either English or French, with at least effective operational efficiency in the other language (B2 or above).
• Experience managing teams or individuals across multiple international locations
• An understanding of risk management methodologies and experience applying them
• An understanding of human rights and a strong belief in their indivisibility and interdependence
• Excellent project management skills, with the ability to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks effectively to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality results.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, including experience working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams and building relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.

This brand new programme has received £2,052,488.00 over five years from the Climate Action Fund, a long-term commitment from The National Lottery Community Fund to support communities across the UK to act on climate change and involve more people in positive environmental action.

Main duties and responsibilities:

Programme Leadership

• Lead Equally Ours’ contribution to the programme. Shaping and delivering the programme’s policy, influencing and systems change objectives.
• Work closely with programme partners Communities Prepared (Groundwork South) and the VCS Emergencies Partnership (VCSEP) to ensure joined-up co-design and delivery across community engagement, resilience training, strategic communications and influencing activity.
• Facilitate and enable the co-design process and provide a pan-equality analysis on thought leadership.
• Lead for the programme on liaison and knowledge exchange with initiatives in the devolved nations.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for two Experts by Experience Board Advisors to join the Helen Bamber Foundation Board of Trustees, who have lived experience of seeking asylum, being granted refugee status or another form of protection in the UK and lived experience of extreme human rights abuses.

The Board of Trustees is made up of individuals who have overall control and legal responsibility for the charity’s management and administration. All the Trustees share responsibility for the charity and must work according to the Articles of Association – a governing document which sets out the charity’s rules and responsibilities. This means that you will contribute, advise and make recommendations to Board on the work and strategy of the charity, but as you will not be a trustee you are not responsible for the final decisions.

The Helen Bamber Foundation Board of Trustees is led by the Chair, Adam Epstein. During your time as an Expert by Experience Board Advisor, you will be supported by the Chair and other members of the Board (including two Trustees with lived experience) to ensure that you are confident and comfortable in your contributions.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced and proactive Trusts and Foundations Fundraiser to grow this vital area of income. About the role

This role is pivotal in contributing to the overall mission of RFUK to protect rainforests and support Indigenous Peoples and local communities.

The Programme Support Officer will play a crucial role in ensuring sound management of specific projects in line with strategy, agreed budgets, log frames, work plans and procedures and ensuring compliance with donor requirements. This position involves a wide range of responsibilities, including monitoring project implementation and documentation, as well as ensuring timely and accurate reporting to donors in collaboration with team members and partners.

This is a full-time (35 hours per week) fixed-term role for 12 months, with the possibility of extension. The post can be based fully remotely in France or offered as a hybrid role from our London office, with at least 1 day per week in the office. The post holder will also medically review reports of doctors in their service and, as other duties permit, write medico-legal reports for survivors of torture.

You will be a qualified medical practitioner with full GMC registration and a current license to practise. Having an in-depth understanding of the social care and health systems in the UK. In addition, you will have significant experience of working with survivors of trauma and/or torture in a medical setting, and experience of writing medico legal reports.

Brief role description

The NST Client Advisor plays a key role in the Nova Support Team, acting as the first point of contact for veterans who have served in the UK armed forces and are at risk of, or are involved in, the criminal justice system. They provide timely initial advice, guidance and support, assess individual needs and connect veterans to appropriate services.

The role includes receiving and triaging referrals, making prompt first contact, completing initial registrations and maintaining accurate and detailed records on the case management system to support effective casework.

We are seeking a compassionate and people-focused individual who can build trust and communicate clearly while supporting veterans with a range of complex needs.

You will have experience and guiding and supporting individuals with strong interpersonal skills and the confidence to provide accurate advice and direction. You will also be highly organised, detail-oriented and able to manage multiple cases effectively while handling sensitive information with professionalism and care.

You will be proactive, IT Confident and able to work both independently and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate will also bring an understanding of the justice system, experience using Salesforce, or a similar CRM system, and a resilient, adaptable approach.
