We are recruiting a full-time Funding Officer working across Birmingham & Solihull on a fixed term contract up until December 2024.
You’ll be part of a team of 6, led by two Funding Managers and working alongside 3 other full time Funding Officers, as part of The Birmingham & Solihull patch which works within a larger Midlands team.

There is a permanent, part time Funding Officer opportunity to come and join our North East and Cumbria Regional team. The role is for 25.5 hours per week covering the area of Cumbria.
The role of a Funding Officer is both challenging and rewarding with no two days the same. You will be expected to spend time developing your knowledge of and relationships in the communities that you are responsible for to try to understand the challenges they face and how our funding can make a real difference to help communities to thrive.
You will be responsible for assessing and presenting funding applications to our Reaching Communities programme, supporting community groups, making connections with important stakeholders e.g. CEO’s of LA’s, MP’s, Mayors and representing the fund at a wide variety of events including funding fairs and networking events.
You will often be the first point of call for potential applicants and will need to be resilient, diplomatic, supportive and assertive in equal degrees. As the outward facing representation of the fund you will need to have good people skills, good communication skills and be professional in a wide variety of different situations. You will have to assess applications and present these to the rest of the regional team at various panels. You will certainly have to be strong enough to say “no” as we always have more applications than funding available.
We are looking for people who have good knowledge and understanding of the third sector and the challenges it faces. The Royal Hospital Chelsea is the home of the Chelsea Pensioners. It has a rich history and provides supported accommodation, residential and nursing care for some 300 retired soldiers. The CPVO programme is aimed at extending an offer to older service veterans, inviting them to engage with our In Pensioners and enjoy the sense of community and comradeship that is at the heart of the Chelsea Pensioner community. While most of our programme activity is centred on the Royal Hospital Chelsea estate in London, the programme seeks to expand in reach to other UK regions where there is a sizeable veteran population who might benefit from engagement with our team of Chelsea Pensioners, staff and volunteers. There are also plans to develop a digital offer.
The Veterans’ Outreach Officer will support the Head of Veterans’ Outreach in developing and managing the programme of activities encouraging engagement and social interaction between Chelsea Pensioners and other service veterans thereby helping to alleviate the social isolation and loneliness felt by many older veterans. Responsibilities will include promoting the programme within veterans' networks and finding innovative ways to connect with veterans; the management of themed events both at the Royal Hospital Chelsea and further afield as we seek to expand nationwide. Duties and key responsibilities:
Content development:
- Work with the Information and Content Manager to research, write, edit and produce new information materials including print publications, web pages, videos, etc.
- Work in line with Sarcoma UK’s information production process, including:
- Liaise with clinical experts and patient reviewers throughout the content development process
- Maintain formal systems within the information production process in line with the PIF tick quality mark

Content updates & maintenance:

About the role
Sense has a fantastic opportunity for someone to join our Engagement team as our Legacy Fundraising Officer. This is a full time position working 37.5 hours per week. This role will working flexibly between home and our office in King's Cross, London.
Over a third of Sense’s voluntary income comes from gifts in Wills. The successful candidate will play a key role in the development and delivery of the legacy marketing programme for existing and new supporters, in order to increase income from legacies and maintain and grow .our pipeline of legacy prospects.
Key Responsibilities
- To work closely with the Legacy Manager and Head of Individual Giving & Legacies in shaping and delivering the legacy marketing and administration programme to achieve annual income targets and other KPIs.
- To manage the delivery of legacy marketing projects from conception to delivery and evaluation in conjunction with the appropriate team members.
- Negotiate project costs with key suppliers to ensure projects are as cost-effective as possible.
- To actively participate in planning and review meetings with the Legacy team and other colleagues and key suppliers, and maintain a thorough understanding of latest developments, current trends, and legislation as it applies to the fundraising and legacy landscape.
- To project manage the development and delivery of legacy marketing activities across a variety of media to acquire new or steward existing legacy supporters to Sense.

Key skills and experience
- Proven experience of managing all aspects of the delivery of successful fundraising direct marketing campaigns in a charity or not-for-profit setting from inception stage to post campaign analysis.
- Self-starter and highly organised with an ability to work systemically to targets and deadlines.
- Demonstrable experience of supporter acquisition, retention and development of supporters.
- Confident with data selections / segmentation and campaign analysis principles.
- Ability to confidently manage all stages of direct marketing based fundraising campaigns across a range of media including Telephone, Direct Mail, Email and SMS to deliver successful fundraising campaigns.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
1. Create and curate content for digital marketing campaigns to support the strategic objectives of the Charity.
2. Devise and deliver marketing campaigns that: raise awareness of mental health issues, promote good mental health, promote our services and drive service enquiries and self-referrals.
3. Devise and deliver campaigns that promote and inspire engagement and fundraising support in the community, and generate leads for sponsorship, training delivery, and charity of the year or similar.
4. Support volunteer recruitment and fundraising through marketing and communications activities.
5. Prepare press releases and secure media coverage to promote Darlington Mind objectives, policy positions and/or events.
6. Develop and manage a pipeline of events and campaigns for community fundraising, inclusive of events by Darlington Mind and those within the community, and identify prospects for key supporters of those events.
7. Deliver creative communications to generate new leads for donor and commercial income. Identify and build relationships with new prospects for community fundraising; convert fundraising and support leads into effective fundraising activities and events

As the Digital Fundraising Officer you will play a key role in supporting the digital fundraising strategy in the UK and internationally, with the objective of significantly growing the public supporter base and income. You will help expand the rapidly growing programme in the UK by assisting the execution of lead generation and fundraising campaigns that engage supporters and generate revenue to support the organization's aims.
Main Duties
- Programme Execution: Assist the Digital Acquisition team in the planning and execution of UK paid digital fundraising and lead generation campaigns. This includes the setup of campaigns, the creation of landing pages, optimising live campaigns, moderating paid social media content and analysing results.
- Planning and reporting: Ensure all work undertaken is data-informed and evidence based.
Role requirements
- A proven track record of successfully delivering digital marketing campaigns. This includes ideation, planning, budgeting, setup, delivery, analysis and reporting.
- Experience of developing digital marketing content that engages new and existing supporters.
- Experience of working in a fast-paced, high performing digital fundraising team
- A demonstrable passion for digital tech and staying up to date with latest trends and technology
- Numerate with excellent data analysis and interpretation skills

About the role

Main duties

Job purpose
Part of the Communications and Engagement department, the Senior Policy and Public Affairs Officer is responsible for developing and implementing strategic policy initiatives and engaging with key stakeholders to advance our policy priorities across the four UK nations. Working with colleagues, members and external stakeholders, you will deliver high quality analysis and research, produce evidence-based policy positions and outputs, and employ effective public affairs approaches to influence change on behalf of our members.
Main responsibilities
Strategic planning and reporting
- Contribute to developing, implementing and evaluating policy and public affairs (PPA) strategies, campaigns and plans aligned to member priorities and our wider strategic aims.
- Lead and manage the delivery of specific PPA workstreams, working in partnership with other organisations as needed.
- Monitor and report on performance against organisational and departmental objectives.
Policy development
- Monitor and analyse the external policy, political and parliamentary landscape across the four UK nations to identify influencing opportunities and relevant developments – summarising these for internal audiences.
- Contribute to the design and analysis of member surveys, drafting reports and presenting findings to inform the College’s policy agenda.
- Work with colleagues to research and draft evidence-based policy positions, consultation responses and briefings for politicians, civil servants, NHS and other key decision makers.
- Maintain an accurate evidence library of data and information to support the development of policy.
- Provide policy-related support to relevant committees to enable their effective contribution to the College’s work, including ensuring agreed actions are implemented.
Public affairs
- Build new and strengthen existing relationships with policymakers, government officials, clinicians and other relevant stakeholders across the four UK nations to advance the College’s policy objectives and maintain a thought leadership position within the eye health sector.
- Draft briefings and presentations to support events and senior-level meetings with politicians, civil servants, NHS and other key decision makers.
- Arrange and represent (as appropriate) the College at events, conferences and external stakeholder meetings.
- Build and maintain the College’s stakeholder database, tracking progress and advising on how to engage with different stakeholders.
Communications
- Work closely with the communications team to support the delivery of communications strategies and plans, ensuring the accuracy of policy information contained in College outputs and contributing to our press activities, member magazine, newsletters and website as required.
- Draft, implement and evaluate the impact of strategic engagement plans for policy publications.
- Support the communication of College policy positions internally, including by proposing lines to take for inclusion in our messaging house and assisting in briefing colleagues and volunteers – including the Chief Executive and President – on these.
To undertake other duties as required
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as required by the College.
- Working outside normal hours and/or overnight stays may be necessary to support the delivery of key organisational events.
