Communications Assistant

We’re looking for a proactive and organised Communications Assistant to join our dynamic communications team in MSF UK, supporting vital work that reaches people in crisis around the world. This is a hands-on, entry-level role at the heart of our Communications function, where you’ll help keep campaigns moving, content flowing, and teams connected - whether that’s supporting digital work or media monitoring, updating platforms, or helping deliver impactful public engagement and mobilisation. You’ll gain real insight into how communications drives humanitarian action, while building practical skills across communications. Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Mon-Fri
Duration: Permanent
Location: London – hybrid, at least 2 days per week London Office (including Wednesdays and preferably Thursdays)
Salary: £32,826.19 - £ 40,120.90 per annum
Job Purpose:
The Communications Assistant would support each team within the Communications Department (Brand & Content, Digital, Media, Public Engagement & Mobilisation and Strategic Comms Planning) with administrative tasks. Duties would include (but are not exclusive to) support with uploading assets to the media/content database; support with the story library; support with project management planning; testing donation platform and QR codes; website testing, proofing and content updates; checking digital monitoring platforms; data/list cleaning in our email platforms; adding stories to Instagram highlights; assisting with media monitoring and logging; updating the journalist contact database; providing administrative support for events, mobilisation activity and internal communications, and organising the Communication’s SharePoint and forward planning calendar and meetings.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with social media platforms (e.g. Instagram) and general digital tools
- Ability to follow processes and work effectively under guidance
- Proactive and reliable, with a willingness to learn and support others
- Ability to work collaboratively with a range of colleagues
- Interest in communications, media, or digital content
- Some administrative experience (e.g. through internships, volunteering, or previous roles) desirable but not essential

- Experience in the practical use of personal IT equipment and Microsoft Office 365 suite. The ability to effectively collaborate and communicate within a hybrid working environment utilising Teams, SharePoint, One Drive and Yammer.
