Location: Home working with expectations of regular travel within Cambridgeshire and occasional travel beyond

Closing date: 9 a.m. Monday 1st April

Who we are

Established in 1924, Cambridgeshire ACRE is a charity that works alongside the rural communities of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. We exist to drive positive change and work with others to improve the lives of those who live and work in rural communities.

Our charity is deeply embedded in rural community life. We focus on supporting volunteers to lead community projects, bringing local organisations together to drive meaningful change and amplifying the voices of our parish and community members. With our support, residents, groups and partners can seize opportunities and realise their aspirations to improve the places, services and facilities that are important to them.

About the role

Our outgoing Chief Executive has provided us with 25+ years of excellent service, and we are now seeking a new Chief Executive to support us through our centenary year and beyond.

It’s a wonderful time to join us. We benefit from an excellent team, which we have recently grown, stable finances, a diverse range of projects and an excellent reputation based on delivering impactful work for our communities for the last century.

Who we are looking for

Our new Chief Executive will have the opportunity to develop a new strategic plan. Within this plan, we will continue to adapt to the ever-changing needs of our communities, support them through the cost of living crisis and continue our partnerships with our local and national authorities. It will also be critical to keep a close watch on all funding streams, their viability and our financial sustainability.

Our next Chief Executive must be an excellent communicator with strong emotional intelligence and a desire to actively build partnerships within the community. Experience in income generation, delivering projects to excellent standards and leading happy, high-performing teams will be essential.

We welcome applications from an ambitious and aspiring leader from across the private, public and voluntary sectors who we are open to support in their first Chief Executive position.

Diversity, equity and inclusion are important to us; we welcome all candidates to consider this role, especially those from communities traditionally underrepresented in leadership. We are open to discussing any barriers that might exist and will remove them where possible.
