Job description

About Us:

Princess Alice Hospice is a charity supporting people in life, death and grief. We’re dedicated to working closely with individuals, communities and organisations in the London Boroughs of Kingston and Richmond and large parts of Surrey, to ensure more people receive the support they need.

About the role:

We’re thrilled to offer a fantastic opportunity to join our Fundraising Team in a temporary role supporting our Christmas events programme. You’ll help deliver our festive calendar, with a particular focus on our flagship Santa Fun Run, which aims to raise an incredible £66,000. You’ll also support Light Up a Life and our Christmas Tree Collections in January.

This is a varied, hands-on role. Key responsibilities include:

• Researching and ordering stock and liaising with suppliers

• Loading and driving a small van

• Putting up banners

• Distributing leaflets to businesses and organisations in our care area

• Liaising with community fundraisers to promote the event

• Engaging with staff across the organisation to promote the event

• Updating event briefing documents

• Calling supporters to discuss the event, helping them set up fundraising pages and supporting their fundraising

• Liaising with the Volunteering team to recruit and brief volunteers

• Attending all events is essential. Event dates are 29 November 2026, 4 December 2026, 13 December 2026 and 8–12 January 2027.

You'll be there to help set up events and ensure they run smoothly on the day. You’ll also support the wider marketing and administration involved in event management and delivery, including preparing marketing literature and providing administrative support.

Who are we looking for?

We’re looking for someone who enjoys being part of a lively team, is happy to get stuck into practical tasks and is confident engaging with supporters, volunteers and colleagues.

• Ready to unwrap an exciting career in fundraising and make a meaningful difference

• Passionate about bringing brilliant events to life and creating a buzz in the community

• A super-organised multitasker who keeps the details sparkling and thrives as part of a team

• Bursting with energy, can-do enthusiasm and enough festive spirit to rival Santa’s elves!

You’ll help bring the Santa Fun Run to life, which may include dressing as Santa or an elf, promoting the event around the Hospice and in the community, and encouraging people to sign up.

What you’ll be doing:

• Supporting the event lead with planning and logistics

• Motivating participants and engaging the community

• Assisting with event setup and delivery, including lifting boxes, erecting gazebos and packing vans

• Driving a van (so a full UK driving licence is essential)

• Working flexibly, including evenings and weekends as needed

This role is ideal for someone who wants hands-on experience in the lively world of community fundraising. You’ll build practical skills across charity events and seasonal campaigns while helping create memorable experiences for supporters and the local community.
