Job description

Whole Education (WE) are looking to hire a number of Project Managers, with a range of experiences to develop and manage a number of exciting education innovation projects.

If you are a highly organised and driven individual who is passionate about making change happen across the education sector then we want to hear from you.

About Whole Education:

Whole Education is a fast growing non-profit, with a small central team drawn mostly from the education and third sectors.

WE are a values-driven organisation, sharing a vision for a more rounded, broad education for young people in English schools. WE believe this kind of whole education can support all young people, regardless of their backgrounds, to thrive in their future life, learning and work.

WE run a number of programmes and events for school teachers and leaders to improve their ability to provide this kind of education. The heart of our work is our membership network, where values-aligned schools pay a yearly fee for membership. In return, they get access to a number of our programmes for their staff. WE also help them to network and build a community of like minded educators.

WE had been recognised by a number of groups and publications for our work driving educational innovation including by the House of Commons Parliamentary Select Committee and the OECD.

What will you do

As Project Manager, your role will be enabling these innovation projects and programmes to run successfully and effectively. You will work with colleagues across the organisation and our network to develop new and existing projects as well as managing their delivery.

We would be open to having conversations with candidates about their own experiences and passions to understand what projects are right for them to manage.

Examples of projects you might work on include:

Big Education Conversation: An initiative empowering local communities across the country to better prepare young people for their futures by supporting volunteers to bring their communities together in ‘conversation to action’

Words for All: An evidence based programme working with secondary schools to address the vocabulary gap and its impact on attainment for disadvantaged young people, through enabling collaboration between local schools

WE Lab Classrooms: A programme empowering primary and secondary teachers to trial and embed evidence-informed ‘two for one’ pedagogies in their classrooms, that develop knowledge alongside wider skills and qualities

Stand Out Schools Initiative: An annual series of school visit days for our network to learn from the “stand out practice” of our most innovative schools

Schools in Communities: A programme supporting schools to develop relationships with their community through running social action projects

Who are we looking for

We are looking to hire 2/3 new people to our Project Team with a range of experiences. Above all, applicants for this role will be passionate about Whole Education’s vision and driving change through innovation projects. If this sounds like you, we would strongly encourage you to apply.

You will likely have worked in schools but this is not essential. You may be straight out of the classroom and be looking to take a different direction in your career in education. You could have worked for the last few years running projects across the education sector or you might be an experienced Programme Lead with a background growing and scaling large scale projects.

Whatever your background you will be a highly organised individual with excellent project management skills. You will be comfortable working in a fast paced environment and excited by the opportunity to both manage successful projects within our network and well as develop new projects as they emerge. You will be an independent self-starter who is confident driving work forwards, whilst enthusiastic about working as part of a small and passionate team in the nonprofit sector.

What current WE Project Managers say

“Working for Whole Education has lifted me out of the narrow context of my own school and given me a much better understanding of the educational landscape across the country. As well as seeing excellent practice across a number of different settings, Whole Education has given me the time, space and opportunity to really engage with the research and consider what is important to me as a teacher” - Current WE Project Manager

“Being part of WE has enabled me to work on and develop projects that are making a difference to schools in England. I have seen first-hand the value of networks and collaboration to enable change in the education sector and learnt about how to effectively facilitate this through projects and events. I have had the chance to work on a range of projects, big and small, as part of a team passionate about enabling young people to receive a more well-rounded, future-focused education” - Current WE Project Manager

To apply

To apply please send complete our application form and send in your CV as listed on our website. The closing date for this role is 12pm on Friday 14th August and virtual interviews will likely take place on W/C 24th August.
