As Head of Finance, you will ensure the right cost structure, financial operating platform, systems and controls are in place to deliver the charity’s vision and strategy. You will ensure robust financial controls and policies are in place and functioning effectively. This is a full-time, maternity cover contract, hybrid working in London.
Who are we looking for?
Ideal candidates will be a qualified accountant with relevant post qualification experience and have a good understanding of financial systems and processes. You will have extensive experience of using finance systems eg Xledger and Adaptive Insights would be desirable. You will have good knowledge of Charities SORP, statutory accounting regulations, VAT, PAYE and other payroll taxes and Gift Aid. Experience of operating at and presenting ideas at senior level including at Board level is essential for the role. With excellent communications skills, you will have proven experience of coaching and training both finance and non-finance staff. An understanding of the voluntary sector would be a bonus however it is not essential for the role.

City Harvest – Trusts and Foundations Manager
Location: Acton, London W3. Three days in the office.
Salary: £38,000 - £46,000 per annum depending on experience.

City Harvest, the charity rescuing food to feed people and protect the planet, is seeking an experienced trusts and foundations fundraiser to secure new income from trusts and foundations, and manage a range of existing donors.
Since 2014, City Harvest has been working to solve food poverty and food waste across London. Every week, the charity rescues over 100 tonnes of surplus food from the food industry. Staff and volunteers sort and package this food, and our vans deliver it, free of charge, six days per week to over 375 community partners across 30 London boroughs. The organisation provides over 1.1 million meals monthly, with 43% of their deliveries made up of fresh fruit and vegetables.
The role of Trusts and Foundations Manager will work with the Senior Trusts and Foundations Manager to deliver City Harvest’s ambitious targets for trust and foundations income in 2024/25 and beyond. The post-holder will be responsible for proactively researching and exploring new avenues for funding and building a strong pipeline of new donors who have the potential to support the charity.
Key to the post, will be building and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders at trusts and foundations and preparing and delivering targeted funding applications to those organisations. Working with the Trusts and Foundations Manager, the post will also involve developing an compelling organisational case for support and a range of highly fundable initiatives for City Harvest.
The ideal candidate for this role will have experience working in this area for at least two different causes, alongside a proven track record of successful income generation and delivering against targets. You will have demonstratable experience in proposal writing and in building relationships with donors and senior stakeholders. You will also have a background in report writing demonstrating grant impact. Excellent written communication, administration and problem-solving skills will be combined with the ability to collaborate with multiple teams. Finally you will have a commitment to the core values and ethos of City Harvest.

I am delighted to be working with a health-based charity in Cardiff to bring you this fantastic opportunity. We are looking for a Policy and External Affairs Manager to support the Head of Department in delivering a critical role. This role will be line managing a small team to provide evidence-based policy results, analysis and advice. You will also be helping to improve medical education across Wales in this Policy delivery position.
Your new role
The successful candidate will be:
- Managing a small Policy and External Affairs team. Providing effective and inclusive management by supporting their personal development in skills and knowledge of subjects.
- Oversee the relationship management of key external stakeholders, ensuring that the relationships contribute and support to the overall strategy of the charity.
- Working with colleagues to positively influence decision-making through Policy advice.
- Manage high quality stakeholder and policy analysis, supported by appropriate primary and secondary research. Produce briefing notes, draft policy papers. Respond to relevant consultations and other requests for information in line with agreed procedures. Feed into horizon scanning and other processes as required.
- Work with colleagues in other offices across the UK to ensure policy issues have been identified and acted upon. Developing a portfolio of expertise through close liaison of colleagues across the charity.
- Represent the charity at external meetings and events.
- Chair important SLT meetings, agreeing agendas and objectives and reporting back to the Head of the Department.
What you'll need to succeed
This position is ideal for someone who has:
- Evidence of a strong understanding of the Welsh Political, Policy and Public Affairs landscape.
- Demonstrable experience of advising and supporting senior members of staff (SLT) to produce briefings, presentations and advice.
- Experience of establishing credibility and influencing senior external stakeholders, building networks.
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Good time management
- Able to work under pressure
- Good interpersonal skills
- Welsh speaking is desirable

About the Role:
Reporting to the Deputy Director of Development (Alumni and Support Engagement), you will be at the forefront of driving their insight program to achieve DAE's ambitious objectives. This is to maximise engagement and fundraising income for the University of Warwick. About you:
As Head of Systems and Insight, ideally you will have an understanding and knowledge of fundraising and alumni engagement systems, including Blackbaud, CRM, Raiser’s Edge, and other fundraising platforms. In addition, you will:
• Be a strategic leader with experience in data and insight, with a strong understanding of data governance principles, data management, and data quality concepts.
• Working knowledge of UK, charity sector regulations and guidance, for example Fundraising Regulator’s Code of Fundraising Practice
• Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
• A proven track record of successfully leading and managing a team, including performance management.
• Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively and strategically with individuals and teams at all levels and across functions.
