The role
The Database Manager will be responsible for our RENXT database ensuring it is maintained and secure as well as leading on the quality and integrity of our data. The role also holds primary accountability for liaison with our external data protection officer. You will deliver training and support for all internal users and collaborate with colleagues across the organisation to produce reports and insight to maximise the effectiveness of our use of data.

The Role

We now have an exciting new role for a Networks for Nature Project Administrator. This role is part of the Networks for Nature project team.

Networks for Nature spans c60 square miles from the River Dee to the River Mersey, including Chester and Ellesmere Port. This is a collaborative partnership project working with Cheshire West and Chester Council, The Land Trust, Cheshire Wildlife Trust, Canal and River Trust, and Sustrans with the aim to drive nature recovery in a mixed-use landscape, creating diverse habitats for species to thrive now and for years to come. We will empower communities to have an active role in conservation action and stewardship and will focus on making nature more accessible to and inclusive for everyone to enable connection and improve wellbeing. As the Project Administrator you will provide administrative and accounting support across the Networks for Nature project.

We’re looking for someone who can:

• Provide full administrative support at all levels of project governance including project delivery team, Project Board and Steering Group, booking rooms, inviting staff, partners and other stakeholders and the taking of confidential minutes.
• Manage the associated project email account and phone communication, answering queries about project events and activities and directing to the relevant team members for action.
• Support the project team with logistics including venue bookings, catering and liaising with participants.
• Support members of the project team with raising POs, invoicing, and financial reporting, ensuring the budget is effectively monitored and that reports are available to project governance and funders as required.
• Collate project information for timely and accurate reporting to Project Board, Steering Group and project funders.

Our Requirements

• An understanding & affinity to the organisation’s mission, vision & values, with an interest in the conservation of UK nature.
• Qualifications: Relevant administrative qualification at NVQ level 2 or equivalent qualifications or experience of working in an administrative role.
• Experience: Excellent administrative experience in a busy customer facing environment is essential, ideally with experience in a visitor attraction, conservation NGO or similar organisation. Experience of minute taking and planning and organising meetings and events.
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, in particular ability to respond to enquiries tactfully and professionally. Ability to compile short reports.
• Budget keeping skills: Experience working with budgets and compiling financial information.
• Customer service: Customer focused approach and experience in a customer facing environment.
• IT skills: Highly skilled in the use of all key Microsoft packages with substantial experience using email, electronic calendars, booking systems and data bases.
• Organisational skills: Highly organised, with the ability to prioritise workload and the ability to meet deadlines. Able to work well under pressure in a busy environment.
• Interpersonal skills: Excellent diplomacy and interpersonal skills, demonstrated by an ability to liaise confidently and effectively with senior managers.

Community Outreach Worker (Complex Needs Housing Service)

Purpose of Post

The Community Outreach Worker (Complex Needs Housing Service) provides advice, information, onward referral and holistic support to clients who are experiencing mental ill health or need support with their mental wellbeing. They ensure that the safety and wellbeing of the client is monitored and reviewed regularly, they remain a source of independent support for all clients and they will embed a person centred recovery orientated and trauma informed approach in all aspects of the role.

About the Service

The Complex Needs Housing Service works as a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) with housing teams and Drug and Alcohol Services across District and Borough councils. These teams will be working with individuals who are presenting as homeless and have a number of Complex Needs.

Service Objectives

• To improve the mental wellbeing of people experiencing mental ill health.
• To increase early access to help for people experiencing mental ill health in, by providing a clear and effective pathway to services provided by Herts Mind Network and other third sector and statutory providers.
• To contribute to an improvement in individual mental wellbeing.
• To remain a source of independent support for all clients.
• To reduce the use of police, ASB, tenancy enforcement, housing needs and environmental health services by clients whose primary need is related to mental ill health.
• To reduce the use of crisis services by people experiencing mental ill health with positive outcomes for the individual.
• To provide an assertive outreach approach for clients who are in crisis and/ or those that may have complex or multiple needs.
• To work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) consisting of Change Grow Live (CGL), District and Borough councils, housing teams and other professionals.

The period from 2025 to 2026 presents a unique opportunity to scale the use and impact of Assemblis around the COP30 UN Climate Conference—set to take place in the Amazon at the end of 2025—by leveraging strategic relationships, including key support from the Brazilian government.

Assemblis will support communities across the world to run community gatherings, deliberate on shared challenges, and make collective decisions. The platform combines step-by-step guidance, storytelling features and data aggregation, enabling community groups to deliberate meaningfully, share their insights and connect with each other.  Our vision:

A world of resilient local communities that have the tools and confidence to make fair, effective decisions, through community assemblies that facilitate learning, build solidarity and have clear pathways to local and global action.

Assemblis will support people to deliberate on challenges and act together in their communities, whilst building a global picture of citizen needs, actions and solutions, which will inform global decision making. One of the ways it will do this is through the Global Citizens’ Assembly - a permanent institution that Iswe and partners are building.

A Global Citizens’ Assembly for COP30 to be launched in Brazil in November is the key opportunity to pilot Assemblis. We are about to test a minimum viable product (functional prototype) with small sets of global users, and are looking for someone who can lead the iteration process, with the goal of an alpha launch in Climate Week in September.

About the role

• Business model development: Support the development and testing of a sustainable income-generating model for Assemblis, while ensuring accessibility and alignment with Iswe’s mission.

• Agile processes: Implement lightweight product management processes (e.g. sprints, prioritisation frameworks, documentation) to maintain momentum and clarity.

• Working in the open: Publish regular blog/weeknotes content to communicate about the work to ensure transparency and inspire healthy criticism and collaboration.
   

About you

This role will suit you if you are a decisive leader who is excited by the potential of civic tech to deepen democracy and empower communities. But you must also be a doer - ready to take responsibility for getting things done, while you grow the team. You might come from a digital agency, a startup, a civic organisation, or a product-led nonprofit. What matters most is your ability to lead with empathy, think strategically, and build things that work.

• Strong product management experience in digital platforms, tools or services

• Passion for civic technology and democratic innovation

• Good knowledge of the technologies shaping deliberative democracy, such as facilitation tools, decision-making platforms, participatory budgeting systems, emerging AI tools, etc.

About the role:

Please note: this role is home based, however extensive travel within the region (East of England which covers all of the above listed Counties) is expected. Most weeks will require travel throughout the region as well as nationally when required.

Main purpose of the role

The Volunteering Officer will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the StreetVet volunteering programme. Key Responsibilities

· Lead the recruitment and induction of volunteers.

· Arrange opportunities for StreetVet volunteers to come together and share their experiences of volunteering at StreetVet.

· Work with the Head of Volunteering to implement processes to gather feedback on the volunteering experience at StreetVet (e.g. volunteer surveys, exit interviews) and create relevant action plans to continue with areas of good practice and implement suggestions/recommendations where feasible.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The P&C Director manages the HR teams across the IRC UK, Switzerland, Belgium and Sweden, and is accountable for effective HR service delivery, HR compliance and continuous improvement within the scope of the People & Culture department to cultivate the desired culture, talent practices, and investments to deliver on our people strategy. This position plays pivotal role in fostering a positive, inclusive and high-performing workplace culture that aligns with IRC’s values through exceptional communication skills. Reporting into the Regional Director, P&C Europe and collaborating closely with colleagues across Global People & Culture, the role provides insights supporting the implementation of People & Culture priorities across the 300+ IRC colleagues in the UK, Switzerland, Belgium and Sweden as determined by the respective country Executive Directors and the Regional Director P&C Europe.

As a member of the UK Senior Management Team (SMT) the role also supports the delivery of these priorities, and serves as an advisor and coach with a keen focus on building leadership competencies and organizational effectiveness.  The role is also part of the global P&C community to participate and stay informed of global change initiatives and to shape or adapt them to IRC UK’s culture and regulatory environment.

This role supports the UK Executive Director in managing the relationship with the UK Trade Union, Unite, including quarterly meetings with Union Representatives and ensuring smooth consultation and negotiation on matters where relevant including the annual salary review, restructures and complex employee relations matters. The post holder has an excellent understanding of Union relations and rights, working collaborative to ensure compliance and the bets outcomes for IRC UK and employees within the bounds of what is possible in the organisation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. P&C Strategic Leadership and Management (~25%)

· Serve as a strategic advisor to the local HR Managers, Executive Directors, and UK Senior Management Team (SMT) on succession planning, providing key insights to facilitate future leadership transitions.

· Act as a thought partner to the SMT, offering strategic guidance on People & Culture (P&C), and organizational culture/values to align with the mission and goals.

· Supervise and be a supportive leader to approximately 5-7 P&C staff within the UK, Belgium, Swizterland, and Sweden HR Team, ensuring the leadership and management of direct reports are handled with excellence.  Accountable for the overall quality and effectiveness of the P&C team, actively monitoring progress against established goals.

· Take the lead on conducting talent dialogues, recommending development opportunities, and coaching on conducting high-quality conversations during performance reviews.

· Serve as an advocate for Employee Wellbeing, Employee Engagement, and Safeguarding priorities and role model safe, inclusive, and caring leadership standards.

· Provide constructive feedback and guidance on career paths and professional development for the P&C team and IRC staff; establish a culture of continuous learning opportunities.

· Partner with peers to facilitate the workforce planning, including, managing workforce adjustments, such as staff reductions, or scale up, including organizational design work, in partnership with senior management teams, the Regional Director, People & Culture Europe and Global People & Culture Partners, ensuring these actions comply with local legal requirements and IRC's country and Global policies while minimizing risks and supporting affected staff.

· Support management through coaching, development, tools and guidance to build a team of skilled, committed, and motivated staff, ready to advance in their career.

· Manage the UK HR budget with support from colleagues in FP&A for planning, budgeting and reforecasting of expenditure.

· Prepare reporting to the UK Board of Trustees, including presentation to the full Board and People and Culture Committee.

2. Manage HR Service Delivery and Core Operations (~40%)

· Oversee the creation and tracking of P&C objectives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals including but not limited to providing support and contributions to the design and implementation of global shared solutions models that deliver meaningful outcomes and service improvements.

· Actively engage in proposal design and grant review meetings, providing expert advice on organizational structure, position scoping, demographic and staffing analysis to build a robust P&C foundation that supports high program quality.

· Drive informed decision making by using data to support people and culture functions, ensuring all data reporting requirements, including to the UK Board and reporting as required for UK programmes donors are delivered accurately and in a timely manner.

· Oversee end-to-end P&C activities across the employee lifecycle, including onboarding and exits, payroll, benefits, contract management, performance management, workforce reporting, and year-round staff communications to ensure high-quality outcomes aligned with organizational standards and strategic objectives.

· Ensure the development and implementation of high-quality, context-specific improvement plans and practices in areas such as recruitment, compensation and benefits, employee relations, onboarding, offboarding, contract management, learning and development, performance management, leave management, code of conduct compliance, legal compliance, HR Information Systems, coordination of policy development and implementation, etc.

· Advise supervisors on appropriate disciplinary actions, serve as an impartial mediator in disciplinary proceedings, and oversee follow-up measures to ensure fairness, compliance with employment laws, and adherence to labor regulations.

3. Workplace Culture (~15%)

· Promote initiatives that enhance the employee experience, team engagement, inclusion, and cohesion fostering an environment conducive to continuous learning and honest dialogue.

· Foster a healthy organizational culture. Oversee the integration of IRC’s Values, People Manager Standards, and Employee Success Factors throughout the employee lifecycle.

· Safeguarding:  promote best practice through the integration of safeguarding considerations in hiring, recruitment and onboarding practices, ensuring that all IRC employees receive orientation to IRC's Safeguarding Policy and expectations.

· Ensure that the IRC Way and information on reporting channels are sign-posted in all IRC office locations.

· Partner with IRC’s global Ethics, Compliance and Global Employee Relations investigations to promote safe, healthy and respectful workplaces.

· With the support of the  Duty of Care colleagues and Regional Director People & Culture Europe, provide guidance and support for all staff-related duty of care initiatives, and critical incident response is delivered according to organizational standards.

· Ensure strong connectivity and communication among P&C staff to foster a cohesive team environment.

4. Collaborate with the Union (~15%)

· Working with the UK Executive Director, maintain a positive working relationship with the UK Trade Union representatives, Unite.

· Negotiate and consult with the Trade Union, facilitating the quarterly Joint Negotiating Committee (JNC) meetings and ensuring a good relationship is maintained and progress is made with key priorities including introduction of new policies, policy updates and salary review negotiations.

Trainee Habilitation Specialist

Salary: £25, 000 per annum (pay will increase following successful completion of the first year, and post qualification, then annually with experience in line with continual professional development up to £36,000)
