About the Role

As a Caseworker you will provide high quality support to victims of crime and anti-social behaviour, leading on completing initial impact and risk assessments that are comprehensive and holistic. You will also contribute to providing cover for the local VS Helpline.

During initial training and whilst awaiting police vetting the successful candidate will be required to work 1 day a week from our office based in the Vassall Centre in Fishponds, Bristol. When vetting has completed the job location will be Keynsham Police Station, with occasional working days from the Vassall Centre.

Key Responsibilities:

• Effectively manage a caseload of self-referrals or referred victims.
• Ensure each victim receives individually appropriate tailored support that fully meets their needs, keeping complex needs central to all processes and decisions.
• Throughout a support relationship consistently revisiting impacts and outcomes of the victim, addressing emerging support needs within an agreed framework.
• Undertake risk and needs assessments to address the specific needs of the victim in line with VS operating procedures.
• Follow relevant safeguarding policies and procedures, working with safeguarding leads and other agencies to ensure an integrated approach to address any safeguarding concerns.
• Provide information and advocacy to enable service users to navigate and understand the criminal justice process and ensure their rights are upheld in accordance with the Victims Code of Practice.
• Identify barriers to individuals accessing our services and determine solutions. Working with existing multi-agency partners to which victims can be referred for ongoing and specialist support.
• To work alongside a team of staff and volunteers to reflect the diverse community and the needs of the victims, including those with particular vulnerabilities, to deliver individual, bespoke services with respect, dignity and sensitivity.
• Maintain accurate and confidential case records, complying with data protection and all other legislation connected to your work and sharing protocols where necessary.

About You

You will need:

• An understanding of the impact of crime on victims such as anti-social behavior, domestic abuse, sexual violence and hate crime.

About the Role

As an Independent Victim Advocate you will be ensuring the provision of individual structured, tailored support plans, based on a holistic assessment of impact and risk, within the framework of VS's Service Model. You may make initial contact with victims of crime, explaining our services and assessing the impact of crime, or receive referrals from colleagues, in order to provide on-going support and case management.

You will develop, deliver and monitor safety and support plans for those affected by crime, who accept ongoing support. Support will include providing resources, interventions, and information to all service users. In order to:

• support those affected by crime in understanding and asserting their rights and entitlements
• understand their journey through the criminal justice and legal systems including the Victims Code of Practice
• facilitate access to additional services
• establish healthy coping mechanisms
• provide practical support and information

You will directly support service users, who may be affected by all types of crime. You may work within a specialist area, for example concentrating on one crime type, or a certain demographic of victims.

You may, in some services, be responsible for elements of volunteer management. This may include the development and case management oversight of a cohort of volunteers who will contribute to the service, in line with VS's policies and volunteering ethos and approach.

Overall Purpose
The purpose of this role is to support the generation of vital community raised income to support the running costs of the Branch’s Animal Care and Rehoming services, while also developing, leading and delivering a branch-wide commercially viable, inclusive and comprehensive volunteering programme.

One role will focus on Policy, whilst the other on Campaigning, however there will be significant overlap between the two. Both will play a leading role in delivering Transport for All’s policy, public affairs and influencing work.

As a Waking Nights Recovery Worker, you will provide person-centred support to adults with complex mental health needs during overnight hours, ensuring their safety, wellbeing, and recovery. You will monitor the security of the building, conduct health and safety checks, respond to crises, support individuals through mental health relapses, and work collaboratively to develop and review support, safety, and risk management plans. The role also includes housing management duties, record keeping, and promoting positive outcomes that enable service users to live more independently.

The Role
