Post Title: Crisis Services Manager
Reports to: Head of Operations
Salary: £30,000 per annum

Hours of Work: 37 hours per week
Some flexibility on working pattern with a minimum of 2 evening shifts per week (Wednesday and Thursday or Friday). The remaining hours to be worked throughout the week. Exact shift pattern to be agreed.

ABOUT THE SAFE HAVEN SERVICE
The Safe Haven offers a welcoming, safe, friendly and non-stigmatising environment for people to access in times of out-of-hours crisis’ and as an alternative to A&E, or secondary mental health care. It offers a safe place for emotional support, resilience building and person-centered support. Its aim is to deliver the following key outcomes: -
- To provide a calm and welcoming environment for those people facing out-of- hours mental health crisis’ as an alternative to emergency departments.
- Treat service users with respect and provide personalised support focused on individual need.
- To prevent the escalation of a mental health crisis and thereby reduce A&E attendance and avoid hospital admissions.
- To raise service user awareness of alternative mental health services appropriate to personal need and circumstances and encourage their use to improve longer term mental health and well-being and reduce social isolation.
- To increase the independence and self-management skills of those people accessing the service.
ABOUT THE ROUGH SLEEPER INITIATIVE
The Rough Sleeper Initiative (RSI) is delivered by several partner organisations, including Buckinghamshire Mind. The RSI supports individuals identified as rough sleeping, or in temporary housing in Aylesbury.
Buckinghamshire Mind’s Mental Health Support & Liaison Worker (MHSLW) is situated within the Rough Sleeper Initiative. The MHSLW provides personalised asset-based support to improve mental well-being and prevent mental health crises becoming a barrier to long-term housing solutions.
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Crisis Services Manager will be responsible for the ongoing operational management and mobilisation of the anticipated future expansion of our Crisis Services. Additionally, they will provide line management to the Safe Haven Team Leads and the Mental Health Support & Liaison Worker. They will have significant experience of managing and developing staff, project management, ensuring operational quality and promoting equality and diversity.
They will have significant experience of supporting and coaching staff working in challenging environments with adults with challenging behaviour and complex needs.
Excellent organisation and decision-making skills are essential for this role, as it requires being able to manage time effectively to meet tight deadlines and work unsupervised during evenings and weekends.
The Crisis Services Manager will be required to work collaboratively with the Head of Operations and will be proficient at communicating effectively with staff at all levels, a wide range of key stakeholders and service users. They will ensure the service is well resourced from a staffing perspective and embed high-quality operational plans and processes.
They will be responsible for the delivery, progression and continual improvement of Buckinghamshire Safe Haven and Buckinghamshire Mind’s contribution to the Rough Sleeper Initiative, including ensuring the achievement of all key performance indicator targets. They will have responsibility for ensuring Crisis services operate in line with organisational H&S processes and procedures and will be a member of the H&S committee.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Tasks will vary from week-to-week depending on priorities, but regular tasks will include:
Operational Management
- To oversee the management of the Safe Haven and Rough Sleeper Initiative services in line with organisational values and service quality expectations.
- To continually drive enhancements to operational effectiveness and maximise outcomes against targets (key performance indicators) from Crisis Service delivery.
- To provide effective line management supervision to the Safe Haven Team Leads, the Mental Health Support & Liaison Worker including coaching and performance development.
- To collaborate with the Head of Operations and the HR Manager to deal with performance management/disciplinary issues confidently and effectively in accordance with organisational policies and procedures.
- To ensure interpret performance and impact data for crisis services and be responsible for reporting against service targets.
- To mobilise the expansion of future crisis services in line with agreed project plans.
- To pro-actively develop relationships with external stakeholders in order to improve and develop crisis provision for people with mental health needs.
- To ensure excellence in the recruitment, training and ongoing support of staff and volunteers where applicable.
- To support the Safe Haven Team Leads to ensure adequate and appropriate staffing at all times within the Safe Haven service.
- To work closely with the Finance Manager to ensure the Safe Haven Services are delivered within the available budget.
Partnership Working
- Work collaboratively with Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust staff to support, develop and promote both the Safe Haven services.
- Manage the Mental Health Support & Liaison Worker to fully contribute to the Rough Sleeper Initiative partnership meetings and provide an interface to other Buckinghamshire Mind services.
- Establish excellent working relationships with out-of-hours services such as Emergency Services, Crisis Teams, SCAS and GPs, around inward and outward referrals.
- To attend and contribute towards meetings pertaining to patient care on behalf of the Safe Haven service, to ensure collaborative multi-agency working.
- Represent Buckinghamshire Mind at external meetings as agreed with the Head of Operations.
Quality and Compliance

The Campden Charities is a local, permanently endowed trust assisting individuals on the lowest incomes in the old parish of Kensington. The area is one of extreme contrasts and includes some neighbourhoods with significant levels of deprivation and need. The Charities awards grants totalling more than £2 million each year. The grant-giving programmes are focused on helping individuals on very low incomes to move on in their lives.
The person we are looking for will have an understanding of, and empathy towards, supporting unemployed or low income individuals and families to improve their financial circumstances. They will be self-motivated, highly organised with excellent attention to detail, an independent thinker yet a team player and computer literate. Candidates must be able to make clear and objective recommendations, both written and verbal, to Trustees.
We are currently home based and working remotely due to COVID-19. However, in the future the role will be based at our offices near Notting Hill or in local community organisations. The role is not suitable for permanent full-time remote working.

Additional information
Place of work: The majority of the work is carried out remotely with a view to return to the Charities’ offices when it is safe to do so (27a Pembridge Villas, London W11 3EP). Some outreach work will be expected ranging from one-off events to regular shifts based within local organisations or community centres.
Salary: £25,000 - £30,000
Hours of work: 37½ hours, Monday to Friday. Meetings of the Grants Committee are held monthly in the evening and attendance at these meetings is expected, currently these are being held via Zoom. The usual working hours for this post are 9.00 am – 5.00 pm.
Holiday: 28 days per annum + Bank Holidays.
Training: Training and support in post is provided on an on-going basis and training in specific areas will be offered as need arises. There is the opportunity to undertake a QCF qualification, up to level 4, in Advice and Guidance, following successful completion of the 6 month probationary period.
Home visits: Once we return to the office the post holder will be expected to carry out home visits to potential beneficiaries to undertake needs assessments. You will plan, organise and risk assess group activities that support personal development, and promote independence, community engagement and social activities. We want the young people taking part to have opportunities to try new things, make friends and have fun!
You will schedule your time to ensure to meet targets and complete tasks to a high standard across both services. It is expected that you will keep excellent records and keep in regular communication with families to build trusted relationships. We are seeking Support Workers to join us and support adults with learning disabilities to live the best life possible. We recognise that the current pandemic means we have had to adapt to change and in many ways we are now doing things differently but what hasn’t changed is our passion for standards and doing all we can to look after the people we support both in these current challenging times and in the future.
To keep the people we support and yourself safe and in line with government advice, opportunities to go out and about are limited, instead our Support Workers are finding fun and creative ways to keep people occupied at home, promoting health and wellbeing. In this caring and creative role, everything you do will enable people to have choices about their own lives, providing flexible services that meet people’s needs, and always looking for the best way of doing things.
Salary: Up to £20,338 per annum based on a qualified rate and 47 sleep-ins per year
Hours: Permanent, Part Time, 20 hours per week
Location: Kingsteignton, Devon
About you
You don’t need experience of support work or any special qualifications for this job - you’ll get plenty of training along the way. Having the right values, a positive attitude to life and a desire to support people to live their life with as much independence, choice, dignity and control as possible is what matters most. You will need to have good listening skills and a practical, caring approach. You also need to have basic level IT skills to be able to use a computer as you will regularly need to record information about people you will be supporting.
We are currently restricting face-to-face training; therefore most of your training courses, including some aspects of your induction, will be online. But you will still be able learn from your colleagues in a supportive hands-on environment.

Right now, our Supported Housing and Community Support service in Kendal is looking for someone like you to help people in the community to concentrate on their personal goals and aspirations. As their Head of Alliance Building, you will contribute to the set-up and implementation of their new Community Mental Health Unit across five local alliances in England. Working collaboratively with your peers, the NHS, local authority and the volunteer and community sector, you will push forward their thinking and practice on the Community Mental Health Framework: achieving real change for people seriously affected by mental illness in their community, both directly in the five new alliance areas and also through influencing the wider health and care system and indeed anything in the community that bears on people's recovery and well-being. You will be a thought leader, making the most of the charity's national platform and networks to develop and spread innovation and new practice.
To be successful for this exciting opportunity, you will possess a proven background in alliance-building frameworks for the VCSE, combined will the ability to implement and deliver across multiple alliances and influence nationally. Harris Hill is delighted to be working with Muscle Help Foundation in their urgent search for a Virtual Community Engagement Lead.
The Muscle Help Foundation (MHF) is an award-winning small specialist national family-centred charity that delivers transformational, highly personalised, empowering experiences in the UK (ie. England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland), called Muscle Dreams for children and young people with muscular dystrophy and allied neuromuscular conditions
As a result of COVID-19, MHF took the extremely difficult decision to postpone its planned 2020 Muscle Dream activities in March 2020. They remain resolute and determined to continue their vital work into 2021 until beneficiaries and families are able to re-engage in person i.e. face to face. Families have been shielding since March 2020. They are focussed on engaging with their community across the country and reducing their Muscle Dream wait-list in addition to offering other virtual programmes directly into the homes of beneficiaries and their families wherever possible.
The charity is excited to be able to continue its vital work during COVID-19 and as such, we are delighted to announce this new role funded by an award from BBC Children in Need. This proof-of-concept project has five key goals:
- Communicate with our existing community ie. beneficiaries (between ages of 8-18yrs) & families across the UK, tracking outcomes (using framework provided by charity)
- Establish how we can best support our community at this time & signpost where appropriate
- Share with families our COVID-19 activities, update family contact details in line with GDPR
- Encourage families to participate on one or more of our virtual programmes and/or COVID-19 activities
- Capture pre and post data (quantitative & qualitative) and interpretative observations (qualitative) - a framework and an appropriate tool will be provided by the charity
As a result of COVID-19 and with this new Interim Community Engagement Lead role, you will be responsible for scoping out and implementing an effective communication plan that will see you start what has now become a critically important role in directly engaging with our clinically extremely vulnerable (CEV) community, in ultimately giving them hope - ideally, we are seeking someone who has experience in working with disability and vulnerable families
