Job description

Help Launch SUNSHINE Charity — A New Movement Tackling Loneliness Across London

SUNSHINE Charity is a vibrant, human‑centred, 100% volunteer‑powered start‑up dedicated to bringing positivity, connection, community and belonging to adults across London.

We’re building a movement that helps people feel seen, valued and connected — but to launch fully, we need strong, committed, proactive Trustees who can help steer us into our next chapter.

This is our final recruitment round before launch. If we don’t strengthen our board now, SUNSHINE cannot move forward.

If you’re passionate, skilled and ready to make a real difference, we need you.

Who We’re Looking For

We need hands‑on, energetic, London‑based Trustees who can help us set up, launch and grow the charity. You must live or work in London and be able to attend in‑person meetings, especially at the beginning, to sign essential documents for the Charity Commission.

We are especially seeking Trustees with experience in:

  1. Fundraising & Grants Writing — securing funding, writing strong bids, building donor relationships.
  2. Strategy Planning & Development — shaping our direction, building a clear roadmap, driving momentum.
  3. Service / Programme Development & Set‑Up — designing and launching community activities that reduce loneliness.
  4. Previous Trustee Experience — confident governance, oversight and board leadership.
  5. UK Accounting / Finance (ideally Charity Accounts) — managing charity finances, Gift Aid, reporting, compliance and supporting financial governance.
  6. Adult Social Services / Social Work / Community Engagement — understanding adult loneliness, community needs, service pathways and how to build meaningful, accessible programmes.

If you can lead in any of these areas, SUNSHINE needs your light.

What You’ll Do

As a Trustee of SUNSHINE Charity, you will:

  1. Provide strategic leadership during our crucial start‑up phase.
  2. Help design and launch our first programmes across London.
  3. Drive fundraising, grant applications and financial sustainability.
  4. Strengthen governance, accountability and board performance.
  5. Bring energy, positivity and a proactive mindset to every meeting.
  6. Help build a charity that brings human connection to thousands of adults.

This is a role for people who take action, not just attend meetings.

Why Join SUNSHINE?

  • Be part of a joyful, human, community‑powered movement.
  • Use your skills to tackle loneliness — one of London’s biggest social challenges.
  • Shape a charity with huge heart and huge potential.
  • Work closely with a passionate Founder and a developing board.
  • Make a meaningful difference to people who feel isolated and forgotten.

SUNSHINE is ready to launch — we just need the right leaders to help us shine.

Time Commitment

We keep things simple and manageable:

  1. Board meetings: Monthly, in London
  2. Light involvement between meetings
  3. Additional time during the initial set‑up phase

This is a role for someone who wants to make a real impact without an overwhelming time burden.

Ready to Bring Your Light to SUNSHINE?

If you’re a proactive, passionate, London‑based leader with experience in fundraising, strategy, programme development, governance, finance or adult social services — we’d love to hear from you.

Join the SUNSHINE movement.

Help us bring connection, community and belonging to London.

Come shine with us.
