We are looking for a Catering Assistant to join our dedicated team at Lister House Care Home in Ripon, North Yorkshire.

This is a full-time, Catering Assistant position, where you will be working 37.5 hours per week, 5 shifts over 7 days (including weekends and bank holidays). Rate of pay: £12.50 per hour.
 
Key responsibilities of the role: 

- Provide high-quality food and beverage services
- Assist the catering team in preparing restaurant-quality meals for beneficiaries, visitors, and staff
- Organise and maintain a clean and tidy kitchen environment at all times
- Support the Catering Supervisor with the daily operations of our dining rooms and bar, ensuring that everyone receives excellent service
- Provide catering support for special functions, open days, meetings, and events

Direct Marketing Acquisition Manager (Direct Response)

 

You will develop and oversee a specialist area of direct response marketing, taking responsibility for paid media activity resulting in giving and prize-led support, and the associated programme and products. You will ensure the highest standard of quality and compliance, across a diverse programme mix. You’ll manage significant income and expenditure budgets and deliver exceptional fundraising campaigns to drive an ambitious growth plan, accelerating progress towards a cure.

Collaborating with different teams across the charity, you’ll be planning, managing and delivering the direct marketing programme across a range of media including digital, TV, telephone, and print. Activities in the acquisition portfolio are diverse; from delivering an established, successful core programme to playing an important role in exciting cross-organisational projects.

You’ll work with a team of three across a range of channels, media and projects at the charity; speaking to range of audiences with one theme in common – compelling people to stand with us for a cure.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Programme and campaign management

· Lead the development and delivery of the direct marketing acquisition programme and strategy, with a particular focus on the direct response elements.

· To be responsible for reviewing and developing our Weekly Lottery Strategy to maximize income.

· Oversee the delivery of the direct response acquisition campaigns; ensuring they are in market on time, on budget and on brand.

· Deliver consistent, structured testing to ensure continuous improvement. Where appropriate and worthwhile, ensure testing is applied to all activity and reviewed with recommendations acted upon.

· Involvement in charity-wide projects and groups; putting supporters at the heart of what we do, as well as playing a key role in the delivery of our Fundraising & Marketing Strategy.

· Management of all key acquisition suppliers including routine reviews, briefing, optimisation and general relationship management.

· Annual planning of acquisition direct marketing; including input to operational planning and development of relevant marketing plans.

· Ensure the campaign planning and delivery cycle is adhered to across the team, and all stakeholders are well managed.

· Ensure routine end of campaign reviews and analysis (with suppliers as well as your own), with proactive adaptation of plans to optimise results.

· Ensure contingency plans and activities are in place to close any expected income gaps.

 

People management

· Management and development of a team of three, with two direct reports.

· Empowering team members to succeed and grow with clear, SMART goals and development plans in place.

· Complete routine 1-1 meetings and annual appraisals with direct reports.

· Developing a high performing team who work collaboratively across the charity.

· Agency relationship management across a variety of partners and suppliers, from building relationships and negotiating, to contract and routine performance reviews.

· Working closely with the Supporter Care and Data teams to ensure the acquisition activity and processes are well understood and that they can support the team as best possible.

Budget management and reporting

· Annual budgeting of direct marketing programmes and campaigns.

· Regular forecasting in line with the annual cycle, making recommendations around budget allocation and managing expectations throughout.

· KPI tracking, trend analysis and interrogation of results at all levels.

· Regular financial performance reporting.

· Programme optimisation to ensure contribution targets are met and contingency planning as required.

· Detailed reporting geared towards a longer-term view of performance, covering long-term & ROI modelling, lifetime value and considering supporter experience and engagement.

What we are looking for:

· Budget management experience – preferably across expenditure and income 

· Campaign management – specifically direct marketing campaigns

· Media planning experience – across a range of media types

· Agency management – including creative and professional acquisition fundraising agencies as well as others such as printers and market researchers

· Demonstrable people management experience

· Ability to understand complex data sets and compile meaningful reports and analysis

· Excellent attention to detail

· Strategic and critical thinking

· Getting the best out of people and agencies

· Understanding of compliance in direct marketing

Additional Information:

Ways of working: As part of our Agile ways of working you will be required to work approximately 2 days a week from the office, which is subject to the requirements of the role and the business needs. Flexibility on where you work can be split between working from home and our office.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Wellbeing Activities Worker to join our Oxford team. This new role is all about expanding the support we offer to clients, focusing on mental wellbeing and ongoing recovery.

Your work will help connect people with their communities, reduce the risk of hospital admission and rough sleeping, sustain people’s tenancies and enable clients to reconnect with and explore new hobbies  by providing holistic mental health and wellbeing support.

As a Wellbeing Activities Worker you will work across different settings within the community, clients’ accommodation, and day centres to engage and support people experiencing homelessness.

Key responsibilities include:

• Design and deliver 1:1/group sessions and activities to promote good mental wellbeing – such as healthy cooking, exercise, mindfulness, gardening, creative projects, volunteering, and community-based activities.
• Empower clients to access opportunities, attend appointments, and build confidence, resilience, and social networks.
• Collaborate with colleagues and clients on recovery plans, helping set and achieve goals that improve mental wellbeing; may include identifying training, volunteering, and employment opportunities.
• Manage clients’ budgets and personalisation funds, and maintain accurate records such as risk assessments and case notes.
• Recruit and supervise peer volunteers, and ensure client voices help shape service delivery.
• Build strong partnerships with local mental health and wellbeing services.
• Your normal working hours will be (Mon-Fri) on site.

• Experience of inspiring and empowering  vulnerable people with complex needs, to identify and achieve goals that aim to improve their wellbeing.

• Understanding of homelessness and the challenges that impact engagement in wellbeing support.
• Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage your time and build relationships with clients, colleagues, and partners.
• Knowledge of action planning and confidence using IT systems for administration and reporting.
• Experience delivering activities, in both 1:1 and group sessions.

Please note this is a fixed term contract until October 2026.

This is a blended role, where your work will be dual located between your home and our London Office.

At BHF we believe in the power of being together, so our colleagues on blended contracts can expect to spend some time in their office, at least one day a week on average. The use of our office spaces is driven in part by your role and the activities you need to do. This may vary from time to time, so you will need to work in a flexible way to unlock your best work for our cause. 

About you

Experienced in designing and delivering complex learning programmes for both technical skills (e.g. Microsoft Dynamics, Azure, Power BI) and behavioural skills (e.g. communication), you’ll have previously experience managing complex learning programmes with multiple audiences, workstreams and stages, as well as experience in developing online learning resources and delivering virtual learning experiences.

You’ll be an all-round L&D Specialist but who has experience with technical training and can understand/pick up new tech quickly, able to work directly with subject matter experts and not get overwhelmed by the jargon.

To be successful in this role you’ll:

• Be able to advise, influence, interact and willingness to constructively challenge at all levels
• Understand the needs of a commercial business and can probe and analyse training requests 
• Have excellent project management and organisational skills and the ability to be driven and self-motivated when working remotely
• Be able to confidently lead on projects and see them through from beginning to end
• Have strong interpersonal and relationship building skills, adept at managing a wide range of stakeholders and work collaboratively as part of a team

Fundraiser
Hybrid - London, 2 days a week
c£55,000

This is a critical role in a progressive campaigning organisation. Your input will see the growth of the organisation through the development of a range of income generation streams. The successful candidate will be responsible for securing income from trusts, foundations, major donors and legacies, in addition to revising and developing the fundraising strategy. A key priority for this role will be identifying and maximising on opportunities with trusts and foundations through writing compelling applications to maximise on the funding opportunities available to the organisation from the diverse range of priorities they support.

The successful candidate is likely to bring a demonstrable track record in securing income from a range of sources, including trusts and foundations. You will enjoy leading and managing teams and working strategically as well as 'hands on' as your remit will include establishing relationships with new, existing, and previous funders.

About the Church Commissioners

Established in 1948, The Church Commissioners works to support the Church of England's ministry.

The main aspects to the work of the Church Commissioners are as follows:

Managing the endowment fund

The Investments team of c. 85 colleagues manages the Church's permanent endowment fund. This £11.1 billion fund (as at 31st December 2024) is one of the largest in the country and has its origins in Queen Anne's Bounty, which was established in 1704.

The fund represents a diverse investments portfolio, which is managed with a strong focus on responsible and ethical investments that enable the funding support for the Church of England to grow in line with agreed investment return targets.

Church-Facing Commissioner Teams

There are three Church-facing Commissioner Teams:

• The Church Buildings team of c. 35 colleagues supports dioceses and parishes with the care, conservation and development of historic church buildings, advises on permissions for changes to church buildings and provides guidance on architectural and heritage matters. It helps churches adapt for worship and community use and works with government to advise on policies that affect church buildings;
• The Mission & Pastoral Services team of c. 10 colleagues supports the creation, merger and closure of parishes and benefices. It oversees the adjustment of parish boundaries, supports dioceses on the legal framework for pastoral change, and handles the legal steps when a church building is no longer required for public worship, including finding suitable alternative uses or disposal;
• The Bishoprics & Cathedrals team of c. 40 colleagues advises on the provision of suitable housing and office accommodation for diocesan bishops and archbishops, funding bishops' working costs, and supporting cathedrals in their governance and sustainability. It also oversees , the historic library and record office of the Archbishops of Canterbury and the main archive for the documentary history of the Church of England.

Central Support and Governance

Overall, there are c. 10 colleagues in the Central support and governance team:

• The Commissioners' Secretariat team supports the Chief Executive, senior trustees and Board in all aspects of their governance;
• The Engagement Manager is responsible for working closely with a wide variety of Commissioners' teams to help ensure that the Church Commissioners has effective engagement with a wide variety of Stakeholders;
• The Strategic Programme management team varies in size depending on the strategic projects currently underway (see below for further details).

Church of England Central Services (ChECS)

The Church Commissioners is supported by a number of key enabling teams which are part of the Church of England Central Services. This NCI consists of Finance, Assurance, Technology, Data, Project Management, Communications and Legal teams. The ChECS team is c. 150 colleagues.

The Church Commissioners is accountable to Parliament, General Synod and, as a registered charity, to the Charity Commission. The Archbishop of Canterbury is the Commissioners' Chair and the current Deputy Chair is the Bishop of Salisbury. Three of the Commissioners' trustees are known as Church Estates Commissioners (CECs), who will be key stakeholders for this role. The First CEC chairs the Assets (investment) Committee and the Second CEC is an MP who helps exercise accountability to Parliament. Both are appointed by HM The King on the advice of the Prime Minister. The Third CEC chairs committees that oversee the work of the Church-facing Commissioner Teams and is appointed by the Archbishop of Canterbury.

The Director of Strategy and Engagement has direct responsibility for Central Support and Governance, comprising the Commissioners' Secretariat (4 colleagues), the Engagement Manager and the Strategic Programme Management team (c. 5 colleagues). Additional Strategic Programme team members may be added as further strategic projects are commissioned.

Strategic focus

• Support the Chief Executive and Board with the development, articulation and delivery of the Commissioners' strategic business plan to enable it to support the mission and ministry of the Church of England, engaging widely and authentically in so doing;
• Act as a close adviser and sounding board for the Chief Executive and leadership team, ensuring the provision of accurate and timely advice, briefings and presentations;
• Assist in developing and delivering plans and projects to give life to the business plan.

Communications and stakeholder engagement

• Advise on, and support, stakeholder engagement. Develop and implement engagement and communications strategies for key stakeholders and leaders, e.g., bishops, parliamentarians, dioceses and General Synod (the Church's legislative and deliberative body). This includes major projects and programmes of work and liaison with the Communications team;
• Champion the views of key stakeholders and beneficiaries within the Commissioners, helping to ensure that business plans and projects reflect the perspectives of the wider Church.

Project support

• Manage complex or sensitive strategic projects and issues, thinking through the consequences of those projects, decisions and communications, including considering reputation matters.
• Facilitate the implementation of change plans, working closely with the Commissioners' leadership team and other NCI executive team colleagues.
• Support the implementation of cross-NCI programmes from the Commissioners' perspective;
• Use the Project and Programme Methodology adopted by the Church Commissioners and participate in current project governance structures - working with the PMO to continue to improve this.

Provide leadership and support to project teams, including:

• the Programme Spire team (which is managing a multi-year research programme to understand and respond to the charity's historic links to African chattel enslavement);
• any changes to the organisational structure for the Church Commissioners, ensuring they are provided with appropriate performance targets and support. This should be done working closely with the appropriate Finance and People teams.

Leadership and wider context

• Keep up to date with current events, trends and concerns which might affect the work of the Commissioners, NCIs and the wider Church;
• Support the wider Church as a senior leader, contributing to the development of the NCIs. Draw connections between operational activities in different teams, and with other NCI activities where appropriate.

• A salary of c.£95,000 plus age-related pension contributions between 8-15% of salary. We will also match any pension contributions you make up to an additional 3% of your salary.

• 30 days annual leave plus eight bank holidays three additional days (pro-rated if working part-time).

In-Work Support and Communication Assistant
Salary: £26,999 - £29,500 per annum, pro-rata (£13,114 – £14,329 per annum for 17 hours per week).

About Action on Disability

Action on Disability (AoD), founded in 1979, is one of London’s leading Disabled People’s Organisations (DPOs). Guided by the Social Model of Disability, we work to remove barriers and promote equality, inclusion and choice for all Disabled people.

AoD is a medium-sized charity with a Board of Trustees, 27 staff, and a strong pool of casual staff and volunteers. Many of whom have lived experience of disability. We are proud that 100% of our Board and 54% of our staff identify as Disabled.

We deliver four key services: Youth, Employment, Welfare Benefits, and Independent Living.

Purpose of the Role

The postholder will play a key role in delivering high-quality, person-centred In-Work Support to Disabled employees and their employers. This includes maintaining accurate support plans, carrying out regular workplace visits and reviews, and ensuring support remains effective and tailored to individual needs. The role also involves supporting recruitment administration. The postholder will contribute to quality assurance by monitoring feedback, updating CRM systems, and supporting communication across the team. In addition, they will help organise staff and employer events, produce newsletters, and create engaging content to promote inclusive employment practices and celebrate the successes of the In-Work Support service.

Main Responsibilities

Service Delivery and Support Planning

• Update and maintain accurate support plans for In Work Support clients.
• Carry out regular workplace visits/support assessments and remote check-ins with employees to review progress and provide support.

Monitoring, Feedback, and Quality Assurance

• Chase, read, action, and securely store all feedback forms.
• Share relevant feedback and service updates with line manager in a timely manner.
• Ensure all CRM systems are updated with accurate and up-to-date records.

Recruitment Administration

• Support the recruitment process by being part of the interview panel, chasing references, scanning and storing key documents, and completing necessary online checks.
• Monitor and record completion of mandatory online training for new and existing staff.

Events and Communications

• Support the organisation and delivery of three annual staff events, ensuring accessibility and engagement.
• Create a fortnightly newsletter with updates, stories, and resources related to In-Work Support from feedback and visits.
