About the Service – Door of Hope (East London)

The Door of Hope Service provides support to women who sell sex in Tower Hamlets.  This includes journeying alongside women, whilst providing advocacy, information, emotional and practical support.  The service also has a strong team of around 15 volunteers, who deliver street outreach to women in Tower Hamlets on a Thursday morning and Friday night.

About the Role

Beyond the Streets is a UK charity with over 20 years’ experience of partnering with women in the sex industry, to see them safe from coercion, violence and abuse. We deliver trauma-informed, person-centred support, provide training, and create resources and reports informed by research, lived experience, and practitioner experience.

Our psychotherapy service for women who sell sex in Tower Hamlets, was borne from the recognition that many of these women would benefit from this style of support, when mainstream offers were not feasible or appropriate or women were denied access because of the multiple disadvantages they were experiencing. In the 18 months since the support has been provided, the positive impact on women and the psychological and behavioural change it has evoked, has been testament to the necessity in providing this service.

Based at our offices in Tower Hamlets, your role will be to provide women-centred, psychotherapeutic support for women with complex needs, either in- person, online and on the telephone.  You will, on occasion, be required to meet a woman in a local café, hostel or elsewhere in the community, to start forming relationships and trust, as well as small brief, interventions.

The role will be working alongside a small team of Door of Hope daytime support workers, and a service manager, who deliver an in-person support service, with women who sell sex in East London. You will work closely with our Door of Hope team, to manage risk around women, and to support her accessing appropriate support services in the Borough.

Within this role, we are seeking someone who is non-judgemental, compassionate and can see the strengths that each individual woman brings.  You will be able to work in a gender and trauma-informed way and will have a good awareness of the need and role of safeguarding policies and procedures. You will have experience of working with complex trauma, individuals who experience multiple disadvantage and be familiar with working in a multi-disciplinary manner to manage risks around women.  You will have a passion for supporting women and want to be part of increasing our positive reach and impact.

Role Requirements

• Provide high quality, evidence-based music therapy provision for children and young people, in partnership with other members of the Multidisciplinary Team.
• Undertake Psychosocial Assessments to assess the holistic needs of CYPF.
• Undertake specialist music therapy assessments of children with highly complex needs, e.g. co-occurring needs, through standardised and non-standardised assessments and clinical observations.
• Chair internal meetings to gain shared understandings of the presenting issues and intervention plans for CYPF.
• Attend and contribute to Multidisciplinary Team meetings, to discuss individual children/ young people and service in general, as required e.g. reviews, case conferences, clinics, etc.
• Promote collaborative working relationships through effective communication.

Job Description and Person Specification 

Reporting to: Head of Trusts and Foundations

Location of work: Remote, with some requirements to travel to our London office (monthly team meetings + around 4 ad hoc days across the contract length) 

Contract type: Full-time, 35 hours per week, although 3 or 4 days per week will be considered. The role may require occasional evening and weekend work.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES  

New business  

• Prepare, compile and submit high quality funding proposals and budgets in accordance with timetables and application criteria, with a particular focus on larger, multi-year and project funding opportunities. 

• Develop cultivation pathways for potential funders, including creating tailored engagement plans for high level donors, arranging school visits, attending key meetings (or briefing senior stakeholders) and delivering presentations to secure their support. 

​Account management 

• Successfully manage relationships from your own portfolio of trusts and foundations, ensuring timely reporting and effective communications.

• Champion the interests of trusts and foundations across the organisation, ensuring grant conditions are met and project outcomes are achieved. 

• Support the team to deliver strategic, multi-year partnerships and to steward key funders.

General

• Maintain accurate financial, performance and account management records via Salesforce.

• Work with the Head of Trusts & Foundations to support the forecasting of income from current and potential donors.

This role offers the opportunity to apply your expertise in designing, implementing and reporting on process and impact programme evaluations – most of which focus on young people - utilising quantitative and qualitative methodologies, conducting evidence reviews, and working collaboratively with key stakeholders. About the role

At EngineeringUK we use evidence to make a real difference. Through research insight and robust evaluation, we work to improve the impact of our own work, as well as that of other organisations in our sector. Our aim is to make a positive difference to young people’s lives and securing the diverse engineering and technology workforce the UK needs to thrive. The research and evaluation team consists of 6 researchers and analysts who work to provide these insights.

This is an exciting opportunity to deliver and develop our evaluation projects, to help build an evidence-base for engineering and technology outreach activities and to shape how we use this evidence to inform our own and others’ practice.

With support from the Head of Evaluation and Impact, you will be the operational lead on our evaluations, with responsibility for:

• critically assessing the evidence required to ascertain impact of engineering and technology outreach activities across a complex landscape, with an emphasis on groups historically underrepresented in the engineering and technology professions
• designing and managing the evaluation of our educational programmes, including the practicalities and logistics of collecting/analysing these data, and reporting findings to internal and external stakeholders
• working with colleagues to embed learning from evaluation findings into our future activities and the wider evidence base on the impact of engineering outreach activity
• developing advice and guidance on evaluation and impact measurement to support the engineering outreach community to evaluate their activity more robustly.
   

This job would ideally suit an experienced monitoring and evaluation professional interested in evaluating education programmes with a focus on increasing opportunities for young people from underrepresented groups.
 

We believe that hybrid working has many benefits and are pleased to offer flexible working with a minimum of 2 days (or 40%) a week in the office and the option for a flexible start and end to the working day in our vibrant central London office overlooking the Thames and may involve some travel in the UK for evaluation fieldwork. Essential Skills / Competencies

• Knowledge of and experience in using evaluation techniques/practices, ideally with familiarity of education outreach programmes
• Ability to design and use quantitative and qualitative data collection tools and analyse these data using widely used analysis software (for example, SPSS, STATA, R, CAQDAS)
• Experience in undertaking literature searches and reviews, identifying relevant evidence, appraising its quality, and summarising the body of existing work
