About the job

We are looking to recruit a Grants and Foundations Officer to join Caritas Salford’s fundraising team. You will be part of a team that is passionate about tackling poverty and inequality, where your work will have a real and visible impact. Your focus will be on maintaining and growing income from charitable trusts and statutory agencies.

As a Grants and Foundations Officer, you will work closely with senior managers and service managers, researching potential funders, securing funding from trusts, foundations and other potential funding partners. As well as building and stewarding lasting relationships that will help sustain and grow Caritas’ mission. We will support your development, helping you grow your fundraising skills, take on complex projects and help shape bids for commissioned services.

You will have excellent interpersonal skills, strong research and analytical expertise, be highly organised and confident in using IT systems and digital tools for research, communication and data management. Additionally, you will have the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with a range of stakeholders, plus a willingness to learn from others about fundraising and social impact.

37.5 hours per week. Monday to Friday with occasional evening and weekends required.

Part time would be considered

Flexibility to work remotely, with regular visits to Caritas services across Greater Manchester and Lancashire.

We are looking to recruit a Grants and Foundations Manager to join Caritas Salford’s fundraising team. You will be part of a team that is passionate about tackling poverty and inequality, where your work will have a real and visible impact. Your focus will be on maintaining and growing income from charitable trusts and statutory agencies.

The Grants and Foundations Manager position is ideal for someone with previous experience of income generation and a proven success in securing funding from trusts and grant making bodies. You will work closely with senior and service managers, to research new funding opportunities, building and sustaining strong relationships with new and existing funders. You will prepare grant applications and maintain a comprehensive database of funders, opportunities and grant applications, in addition to managing and evaluating bids to ensure optimal outcomes.

You will be highly organised with excellent written communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to produce clear, compelling and persuasive proposals. Additionally, you will have strong relationship building skills, with the ability to engage and grow income from a wide range of supporters.

A high level of computer literacy and IT skills, including Microsoft Office and CRM is essential.

About the team

The Advocacy Team is part of Shelter Scotland’s Communications and Advocacy Department and is responsible for developing the charity’s policy positions, research plan, and public affairs and professional stakeholder engagement.

The Advocacy team works closely with colleagues in Community Advice and our Telephone and Online Advice services to capture evidence of how Scotland’s broken and biased housing system is impacting communities, and colleagues in Communications and Engagement to translate this evidence into compelling public campaigns and fundraising appeals. The team have led the organisation on developing an anti-racism evidence base, the economic and social benefits of social housing investment and the case for a human rights-based approach to meeting housing need.

This is a pivotal leadership role within The Passage's Fundraising and Communications team, responsible for driving supporter engagement and delivering a diverse portfolio of fundraising programmes. From special events and individual giving to community fundraising and celebrity ambassador engagement, this role ensures supporters are at the heart of everything The Passage does.

About The Passage
The Passage are an incredible charity based in Westminster providing people experiencing homelessness with the support to transform their lives. Their vision is of a society where street homelessness no longer exists, and everyone has a place to call home. Last year, they supported over 2,000 people experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness.

The Role

As Head of Supporter Engagement and Events, you will lead a talented team to grow and diversify income streams, ensuring a first-class supporter experience. As part of the Senior Management Group, you will also contribute to organisational strategy and represent The Passage externally.

Key Priorities During the Contract

For the duration of the maternity cover, the successful candidate will focus on:

• Personally leading the development and delivery of core events including Garden Party, Big Sports Quiz, A Little Night Music, and Laughter to the Rafters.
• Developing and implementing processes to streamline, improve and enhance supporter data and communications.
• Leading the implementation of the supporter journey strategy, collaborating with colleagues across fundraising and communications to ensure a seamless, personalised, and data-driven experience for all supporters.
• Managing relationships with Passage Ambassadors, particularly Dara O'Briain, who plays a key role in our annual comedy event, Laughter to the Rafters.
• Working closely with the Head of Development to enhance the special events programme and identify opportunities to uplift income across corporate, trust and major donors.
• Provide coaching and direction to a multi-functional team, fostering collaboration and innovation.
• Budget Management: Prepare accurate forecasts and monitor KPIs to achieve ambitious income targets.

About You

We are looking for a dynamic and strategic leader with:

• Proven experience in developing and implementing successful fundraising strategies.
• A track record of achieving and exceeding income targets.

As our portfolio of high-value funders continues to grow—and with ambitious targets ahead—we’re building a dedicated operations function to act as the central hub for knowledge, insight, and coordination within HVP. Emmaus Overview

Emmaus is a community that provides accommodation and work for vulnerable people. We are committed to providing support while promoting independence. Staff and volunteers must work closely with Companions while observing appropriate professional boundaries in performing their role. They must also learn and engage with the Emmaus ethos.

The key task for this role is to manage a caseload of up to 16 Companions and to ensure that new companions get the information and support they need to help them settle in quickly and easily to the community and to working in our charity shops, warehouse and delivery / collection service. The support worker role is central to the team and close teamwork is essential.

The support worker will undertake direct support work with companions. Each companion has a personal support and development plan to help them achieve their personal goals and ambitions, in compliance with our Emmaus ethos, strategic aims, organisational objectives, policies and procedures.

Staff are expected to participate in and support solidarity activities undertaken by the Community.  Solidarity within the context of Emmaus is the working with groups and individuals towards the alleviation of poverty, social exclusion and suffering, and responding to local, national and international appeals for relief and support.

We expect you to carry out your job responsibilities in an environmentally aware manner.  Our aim is to ensure all resources are utilised effectively and efficiently.  You will be expected to apply sound ‘value for money’ principles in undertaking purchasing or supply of goods and services.

In Emmaus, volunteers are an important resource and make a vital contribution to Emmaus’s aim to take action to help disadvantaged people.  You will be expected to encourage and support volunteer involvement in our work.

Main duties and responsibilities

Support for Companions

• Support a caseload of companions to reach their potential through both practical and emotional support.
• Tailor support plans to meet individual needs – setting goals, assigning actions and taking a holistic view of the person and their wishes.
• Guide induction and exit processes for companions – to ensure that they understand the core principles of the offer at Emmaus and move on to long term, sustainable accommodation after us.Use de-escalation techniques to manage challenging behaviour as it arises, with consideration to positive conflict resolution.Support with incident response, including responding to risk, e.g. anti-social behaviour, mental health concerns, fire alarms etc.
• Liaise with external providers (CMHT, GP, DWP, hospitals, probation, prisons, CAB etc) to ensure that specialist advice and guidance is sought where needed.

Administrative duties

• Maintain accurate records in line with internal policy and with consideration for GDPR principles.
• Perform tasks to support the effective running of the community.
• Contact external providers to make them aware of who we are and what we do to drive referrals.
• Provide written updates for key stakeholders and internal meetings.
• Provide structured support for companions as agreed in the support plan.
• Participate in an emergency on-call rota to ensure 24/7 support is available for companions where needed.

Health and Safety

•  To apply the organisations health and safety policy.
• To carry out risk assessments as and when required and to ensure actions arising from this are carried out.
• To ensure that health and safety procedures are understood and followed by all companions.
• To report any incidents or concerns to the Community Support Manager.

Salary: £34,596.75 per annum

Then join Shelter as a Business Development Officer and you could soon find yourself playing an important role within our Business Development team

About the role

Responsible for supporting the Business Development Team to generate statutory income and achieve its income target, you will be involved in a range of activities including producing content for bids, horizon scanning and maintaining the pipeline to inform income forecasting.  In collaboration with the Business Development Manager, you will undertake research into local needs and priorities in our service areas with a view to supporting the team in influencing commissioners and driving forward systems change.

About you

To succeed, you’ll be skilled at writing clearly and accurately and drawing on a range of evidence to produce compelling content for tenders, proposals and reports. You’ll be comfortable working on your own initiative or as part of a team, and happy to share your knowledge and skills to play your part in cross-team projects when required. The ability to use Microsoft Office programmes including Word, Excel and Outlook are also a requirement for the role.

About the team

The Business Development team (BDT) is the support function that leads, coordinates and supports Shelter business areas working to develop new and existing services to meet Shelter’s strategic goals.

The BDT team sits within the Income Generation directorate and will involve leading the development of high-quality statutory funding tenders, support growth through researching new markets and maintaining a strong pipeline of opportunities and contribute to strategic projects that embed continuous improvement.

You will collaborate with teams across Shelter including Services, High Value Partnerships and Finance, looking to enhance ways of working, building external partnerships that strengthen applications and delivery, along with influencing commissioners and funders to ensure opportunities align with Shelter’s strategic priorities.

Purpose of job

Overall Purpose of the Role

The Finance Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring that Emmaus Hertfordshire maintains accurate, timely and compliant financial information in support of its charitable and social enterprise activities.

You will work closely with the Operations & Finance Manager, Trustees, Chief Executive, staff, companions, and external partners to provide clear financial reporting, strong financial controls, and expert guidance that supports good decision-making across the organisation.

As a proactive member of the Management Team, you will also contribute to financial policy development and continuous improvement of systems and processes, working within the Emmaus values, ethos and principles.

Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Controls

• Maintain effective financial control over all revenue, expenditure, and cash handling across the community.
• Prepare spreadsheets for monthly payroll and pension contributions.
• Support the Finance Manager, Chief Executive and Treasurer in preparing, setting and creating the annual budget.
• Maintain companion rent accounts, Housing benefit and Gift Aid applications.
• Lead the year-end process and liaise with external auditors to ensure an efficient and compliant audit.

2. Financial Reporting

• Produce accurate and timely financial information, including providing information to support monthly management accounts and forecast reports.

• Undertake financial analysis of business development and new income-generation opportunities to help minimise financial risk.

Emmaus St Albans operates its retail six days a week (Monday–Saturday). The Finance Co-Ordinators working hours will be agreed with the line manager, and flexibility is essential.
