We are recruiting a Volunteer Coordinator to promote volunteering for PAPYRUS across England Central, and to recruit, engage and manage volunteers to support the work of the charity.

What you will do:

Recruit, engage, develop and support volunteers in line with agreed procedures

Develop and maintain partnerships to enable and enhance volunteer recruitment

Ensure that volunteers have the necessary training to carry out the tasks that they wish to do and to enhance their skills and abilities for their long-term development

Identify online and face to face events and activities and engage with volunteers to support and enable them to attend. Support volunteers to make local links and engage with projects and organisations that are in line with PAPYRUS values

Meet with volunteers regularly to review activities and engagement

JOB PURPOSE

To inspire people with mental health conditions to progress, and to gain and sustain paid employment.  Some Employment Specialists will support clients with common (mild to moderate) mental health conditions (e.g. anxiety, depression), whilst others will support clients with more severe and enduring mental illness (e.g. schizophrenia, bipolar, personality disorders).

Depending on what clients are right for you to work with, you will either work across the local NHS primary or secondary care network alongside NHS clinicians to secure client referrals.

To work with clients with more serious mental illness, you will need to be comfortable supporting people who have experienced / are experiencing serious mental health challenges, as well as possibly other serious difficulties in their lives.  Although you will receive full training and support, it’s important you are aware of the potential impact this may have on your own mental wellbeing.

All Employment Specialists will follow the 8 principles of IPS, adhere to the IPS Fidelity Scale and achieve monthly targets and KPIs with the required administration and compliance.

Responsibilities and Duties

1. Engage a caseload of clients with mental health problems and establish trusting, collaborative relationships to support them into employment in line with contract targets and IPS fidelity.

2. Assess clients’ employment support needs; implementing and adjusting employment plans as necessary to support each client’s desired outcomes along IPS requirements.

3. Develop and deliver a range of practical services to meet clients’ needs including career guidance, job searching, CV preparation, interview skills, individual coping techniques or work coaching.

4. Build a constant flow of referrals to ensure a dynamic caseload.

5. Conduct weekly employer engagement activity in line with IPS Fidelity.

6. Understand the complex issues a client may face, recognise holistic support needs and work in conjunction with clinical staff.

7. Facilitate access to expert financial advice on welfare benefits and ‘access to work’ resources.

8. Provide support and reasonable adjustments if required, to employed clients to support them to stay and progress in work.

9. As requested, attend clinical team meetings to provide advice and information on employment and IPS.

10. Collaborate with community partners to raise awareness of employment and mental health issues and promote access to the service.

11. Maintain accurate and up to date records of activity and outcomes in line with service requirements, ensuring the IT database is up to date and paperwork compliant.

12. Update and maintain NHS database (IAPTus).

13. Receive regular supervision and training to meet individual, team and organization’s needs.

14. Contribute to the development of a service that is locally responsive and supports minority/disadvantaged communities.

The Service 

The main aim of the Mental Health Connector Service is to work as part of a collaborative partnership with both Forward Thinking Birmingham (FTB) and Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Foundation Trust (BSMHFT) teams within the Neighbourhood Mental Health Teams. 

This transformational service is an integral part of local Primary Care Networks (PCN) across Birmingham and Solihull. 

The service will assist with providing support and interventions to service-users in primary care by providing access to support around social catalysts of poor mental health.  This includes issues such as debt, housing, domestic violence, substance use, homelessness, isolation, relationship breakdown, unemployment, and other social crisis issues. 

The service will see a team of Mental Health trained professional, Local Authority, Education and voluntary sector staff working together to delivery liaison, consultation, and intervention delivery. The service is an all-age service and will be based in a Neighbourhood Mental Health Teams.

The Role

• You will manage and support the on-going development of these services and test “proof of concept” in relation to offering alternatives to NHS response to mental health services. 

• You will monitor activity and report against key performance indicators and outcomes in line with service level agreements and requirements from our partner organisations. 

• You will provide a high level of line management leadership to each of the teams, encouraging continuous improvement and engagement through team meetings, service reviews, individual supervisions, and appraisals.

• You will coordinate deployment across the individual service areas in line with contractual agreements, ensuring that each area is represented.

We are recruiting a Community Development Officer to engage key partners and stakeholders in the Yorkshire region tailoring support, training and education to create suicide safer communities. 

In this role you will be: 

• Identifying, developing and maintaining effective partnerships with local communities, volunteers and key partners across the region to engage them in the prevention of young suicide. 

• Proactively promoting suicide prevention including raising the profile of PAPYRUS and engaging with those personally affected by young suicide. 

• Equipping a wide range of stakeholders to enable them to create sustainable suicide safer communities through the provision of tailored support, training and education. 

• Delivering training and raising awareness of products to a variety of groups including professionals, parents, young people, volunteers and other trainers. 

• Contributing to the development and review of projects, and education and training products, in line with the Strategic Plans. 

• Contributing to and promoting campaigns, training and opportunities as outlined in the Regional and Strategic Plans. 

To be successful in this role you will have: 

• Previous experience working in a community setting, delivering information and training sessions, leading workshops or educational activities 

• A proven track record of networking and building and managing effective relationships, tailoring the approach to meet the differing needs of the audience

• Experience as a qualified ASIST Trainer or willingness to gain qualification and experience 

• Experience of using own initiative and creativity to develop a project, programme or area of work 

• The ability to travel to different locations across the Yorkshire area to attend meetings, events and deliver training.

As an Employment Consultant, you will be assisting veterans across the South East back into work. Based at your home, but with extensive travel, you will help with application materials, overcome challenges, and connect with employers.
