MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Reporting to the Head of Financial Accounting, you will take ownership of producing accurate management and statutory accounts, supporting audits, and ensuring compliance with UK GAAP and charity sector requirements.

This is a varied and impactful role, where you will lead on month-end processes, balance sheet reconciliations, VAT returns, and cash management, while also driving continuous improvement in financial systems and controls. Working closely with stakeholders, you’ll provide clear financial insight to support decision-making across the Federation.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We would like to hear from you if you have:

• An understanding of UK GAAP
• Experience with financial systems and ERP software (e.g. SAP, Oracle, Sage) along with proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions
• Ideally 2-3 years of post-graduation experience in an accounting role, preferably within a commercial environment
• ACA, ACCA, or CIMA (or equivalent) either in progress or recently obtained
• A degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline, with a strong academic record

ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY

Are you a driven procurement professional ready to make a real impact across a dynamic and growing Federation? We are seeking a highly capable Procurement and Contracts Manager to lead and deliver compliant, high-quality procurement activity that supports our academies to thrive.

MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

You will play a key operational role in delivering compliant, high-quality procurement activity across the Federation. With a focus on strategic sourcing & tendering, you will focus on, lead and manage end-to-end procurement exercises, including regulated FTS tenders and framework-based awards, maintain oversight of the procurement pipeline, and actively support academies in selecting and using compliant procurement routes. The role has a strong emphasis on forward planning, market engagement, regulatory compliance, and practical academy support to reduce risk and avoid reactive or non-compliant procurement activity.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We would like to hear from you if you have:

• Minimum Level 4 CIPS qualification
• Public sector experience (at least five years in a similar role)
• Strong experience delivering regulated procurements, including FTS tenders
• Proven use of public sector frameworks and DPSs
• Ability to advise stakeholders on compliant procurement routes
• Solid understanding of framework structures, call-offs, and mini-competitions
• Strong knowledge of public procurement regulations and best practice
• Experience supporting academies or devolved organisations

ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for an Assistant Procurement Officer to provide dedicated administrative and operational support to the Procurement Team on a fixed-term basis, with a primary focus on the onboarding of new academies into the Trust.

You will work closely with the Head of Procurement to support procurement due diligence, data collection, and the structured integration of new academies into the Trust’s procurement arrangements, policies, frameworks and systems. The role will also provide proportionate general procurement support during the contract period.

MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing focused support to the procurement onboarding of new academies during the fixed term period, working directly with the Head of Procurement throughout each onboarding cycle.
• Assisting with procurement due diligence activity, including collecting, collating and maintaining information on:
  • existing contracts and suppliers
  • spend data and pricing arrangements
  • expiry dates, break clauses and key risks
• Supporting the review, organisation and validation of legacy procurement documentation, ensuring records are complete, accurate and suitable for audit and internal assurance purposes
• Coordinating engagement with new academies, including arranging initial onboarding meetings, site visits and follow up actions linked to procurement integration
• Supporting the structured onboarding of new academies onto Trust procurement processes, policies, frameworks and systems, ensuring documentation and guidance is clearly prepared and shared
• Maintaining onboarding trackers, action logs and document repositories, escalating risks, gaps or delays to the Head of Procurement where appropriate.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We would like to hear from you if you have:

• A high level of computer literacy with practical knowledge and application of all Microsoft Office applications
• English and Maths GCSEs at Grade C or above
• A-Level / BTEC / HND or equivalent/similar with demonstrable experience of an office environment

About the role

We are looking for a dynamic, creative, innovative team player to join our Young People and Families Service. This role will be based in Scotland, in our Glasgow office. This role will also support service delivery across the UK.

As a Young People and Families Worker you will work with colleagues, partners, healthcare professionals, schools, volunteers, and - most importantly - young people and families to co-plan, deliver and evaluate a high quality, holistic support offer locally and nationally.

You will help young people living with arthritis to build their confidence, make friends and achieve their personal goals. You'll also co-design an exciting programme of online and in-person events, youth voice opportunities and digital content. About you

We are seeking a proactive HSEQ Lead to support the delivery of our Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality programme. This is a hands-on role in a unique setting, ideal for someone passionate about safety, sustainability, and working in dynamic environments.

About the Role

The HSEQ Lead is responsible for setting and maintaining the island’s Health, Safety, Environment and Quality standards. The role oversees compliance, training, incident management, policies and procedures, waste and water management, and supports all teams in working safely and responsibly. The individual leads the island’s safety culture, coordinates emergency preparedness, and ensures that HSEQ considerations are embedded across daily operations and long-term projects.

Core Responsibilities to include but not be limited to:

• Set the overall Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) standards and ensure they are implemented consistently across all teams.
• Maintain and develop the HSEQ management system, including policies, procedures, risk assessments and incident reporting.
• Lead the island’s incident investigation process, ensuring root-cause analysis, follow-up actions and learning reviews.
• Oversee statutory compliance across all relevant areas (e.g. H&S regulations, environmental obligations, waste, water quality, fuel storage).
• Act as the senior point of contact for HSEQ matters across the business, and with regulators and external partners.

· Monitor performance through KPIs and audits.

· Ensure that HSEQ considerations are embedded into all projects, maintenance plans and operational decisions.

Person Specification

Essential Skills & Experience

• Strong working knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and environmental regulations.
• Demonstrable experience in a HSEQ management role or similar leadership position.
• Proven ability to write and maintain processes, policies, risk assessments and safety documentation.
• Experience running incident investigations and presenting findings to senior leaders.
• Confident communicator with the ability to influence behaviours across varied teams.
• Practical mindset and comfortable working in a hands-on environment.
• Good analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Experience designing and delivering training.

Desirable Skills and Qualifications

• NEBOSH General Certificate (or working towards it).

About Chapter One

Chapter One is a small but growing charity, working to ensure that every child has 1:1 reading support at the time they need it most. 

Our Early Literacy Intervention programme is based on a programme that works successfully in the USA and it provides daily, 1:1, 7 minute phonics sessions for children who are behind in phonics. Using a bespoke technology tool, a trained Early Reading Interventionist works individually with target children. 

We also have our unique Online Reading Volunteer programme which currently supports about 3,500 children a year. It pairs struggling five to seven-year old (KS1) readers with reading support volunteers who come from over 150 local and national businesses. The volunteer pledge is very focused: readers commit 30 minutes a week to read with a child using a bespoke digital platform for an entire academic year. The results are transformative, boosting children's reading confidence and ability.

About the role 

Working for 5 hours per day, 5 days a week (term-time only) at Thomas Buxton Primary School in Tower Hamlets, this role will involve delivering a programme of 1:1 focussed sessions for selected Reception and Year 1 children.  The ELI will be trained to use Chapter One’s specialised online tool designed to support learners who are at risk of falling behind with their phonics.

We are looking for a highly motivated, energetic individual who enjoys working with young children and who wants to make their mark in a fast-growing charity. We can offer training, a small friendly team and a chance to improve the lives of children facing disadvantage.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct an initial baseline assessment of selected target children in Reception and Year 1 to determine where further support is needed.

• Use Chapter One’s online tool to deliver differentiated, daily, 1:1, targeted, 7 minute phonics sessions to pupils using a systematic, synthetic approach.

• Use a variety of additional activities to reinforce phonics skills.

• Support children to use their secure phonics knowledge to read decodable books.

• Develop pupils’ phonics fluency and confidence in preparation for the Year 1 Phonics Screening Check, where applicable. 

• Document each session with a child, including the skills practised or mastered and a goal for the next session.

• Maintain and update daily pupil progress trackers, identifying phonics skills secured and areas requiring consolidation to inform future teaching. 

• Challenge pupils to reach each new goal and celebrate pupil success.

• Work closely and on an ongoing basis with classroom teachers, reading support staff and the school team to understand progression of the schools phonics teaching.

• Work closely with classroom teachers to establish tailored plans for each child.

• Provide school leaders with data and information on pupil progress.

• Gather feedback from school on progress of the programme and any implementation challenges, aiming to help Chapter One to continuously improve programme delivery.

• Collaborate with colleagues at Chapter One to further improve the ELI model, the online tool and programme delivery.

Qualifications Criteria

• Maths and English GCSE at Grade 5 or above.

Our specialist children's practitioners provide child-led play therapy sessions on a weekly basis, usually for 6-16 weeks.
