Trainee Generalist Advice Caseworker

Starting on salary NJC Scale 5 - £32,749 per annum (increasing to NJC Scale 6 - £35,689 to £37,851 per annum - after 6 months)

Full-time – 35 hours per week

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Gateway Assessor to be fast tracked through the full Citizens Advice Generalist Adviser training programme within 6 months. You will also be working on a range of different projects and services providing direct advice to the public and undertaking casework on social welfare law issues.

Once assessed as having satisfactorily completed the initial six months training you will be issued with a new job description as a Generalist Advice Caseworker on a starting salary of £35,689 per annum.

• You must be a trained Gateway Assessor

Gateway Assessor

NJC Scale 2 - £28,958 to £29,337 per annum

Full-time – 35 hours per week

The role will assist in providing a quality service to clients through face to face, telephone and digital gateway assessment by supplying accurate, personalised, relevant information and guidance. You must have:

• Recent experience of undertaking the role of Gateway Assessor or of providing information, advice and guidance to the public either through face to face, telephone and emails including experience of exploring clients’ problems and identifying appropriate next steps.

Purpose of the role: 

To facilitate training workshops for kinship carers across England, as part of the national training team, through an annual programme of Kinship roadshows and in-person and online workshops. 

To contribute to the continual development and improvement of the Kinship training programme by developing new content and refining existing materials in line with insight, data, and feedback from kinship carers. 

This role is home-based with frequent travel across England

Key responsibilities include:

• Co-facilitate professional, high-quality training to kinship carers in England.

• Experience managing challenging or sensitive situations during training while maintaining clear boundaries, using Kinship's safeguarding framework where necessary.

About the role

Sightsavers is looking for a Finance and Support Services Intern to gain experience in running the daily finance and support services functions for the Zimbabwe country office, under the leadership of the Finance and Support Services Officer (FSSO). This is an excellent opportunity for someone to begin their career in Finance.

As the Finance and Support Services Intern you will prepare payment requisitions and deposit slips for cash to be deposited into the bank, process expenses payments, maintain accounting files and records, and update and maintenance of fixed asset register under the direction of FSSO.

Further duties include:

• Support logistic for travels and activities.

• Track and following up on outstanding advances and ensure timely reconciliation.

• Updating and maintenance of fixed asset register under the direction of FSSO.

• Assist in gathering /photocopying of documentations.

• Assist in providing support during seminars, workshops, etc.

• Assist in periodic verification of physical inventory.

• Ensure the office facility is properly maintained for good work environment.

• Assist in booking hotels and shuttle services for Sightsavers Staff coming into the country.

As the ideal intern you will possess a recent graduate degree in Finance/Accounting (or be within the last year of your degree) and hold a professional accounting qualification or are working towards gaining one.

Many roles at The Children’s Trust are exempt from the provisions of Section 4 (2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, by virtue of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended in 2013 and 2020) and as such, are subject to an Enhanced DBS check.  Successful applicants will be required to complete an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check, which will disclose all unspent convictions and adult cautions and any spent convictions or adult cautions that would not be protected.  The exceptions to this are our retail roles within The Children’s Trust shops, which are subject to Basic DBS checks which will disclose unspent convictions or adult cautions.

Online Searches

 About you

As an experienced developer, you’ll deliver a spectrum of digital experiences, ranging from simple optimisations to complex, multi-page experiments. You’ll work together with UX/UI designers, bringing ideas to life while working within a design system—and always with a keen eye on accessibility and best UX practices. If you’ve previously held a design role, that’s even better!

You’ll serve as the go-to technical expert for our CRO team, translating briefs into robust solutions, meeting requirements, and providing trusted advice on feasibility, best practice, and timelines. Over time, you’ll master our testing tools, ensuring seamless test setup and rollout.

Your attention to detail and knowledge of QA means every user gets an optimal experience, regardless of device or browser. You’ll also support the wider CRO team by reviewing and troubleshooting tests, and your knowledge of custom tracking code (particularly datalayer events) will make you an indispensable part of our team.

Senior Management Accountant (Part Time – 3 Days per Week)

A national charity seeking a Interim Senior Commercial Management Accountant to support their finance team during a period of growth and transformation.

This role will play a critical part in leading the development of costing and pricing models to support strategic decision-making. You will also deliver high-quality financial planning and strengthen financial insight across the organisation.

This is a part-time role (3 days per week) offered on a interim basis until April 2026.  The charity offers remote working, with access to a London office for those who prefer a hybrid approach.

The Role

As Senior Commercial Management Accountant, you will provide crucial support across financial planning, forecasting, modelling, and operational finance. Working closely with the Head of Finance & Finance Director, you will help deliver the charity’s mid-year forecast, develop organisational planning tools for the upcoming financial year, and lead on advanced costing and pricing work to support strategic decisions.

You will also support technical areas including partial VAT recovery, internal financial controls, and the migration of a small trading subsidiary to a new finance system. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys analytical problem-solving, partnering with non-finance colleagues, and contributing to organisational change.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development of costing and pricing models to support strategic decision-making.
• Deliver the mid-year (4+8) forecast, providing variance analysis and clear narrative insight.
• Prepare planning tools and templates for the upcoming financial year.
• Provide financial guidance and analysis to non-finance managers across the organisation.
• Produce high-quality management reporting for senior leadership.
• Support technical accounting matters, including partial VAT recovery and VAT group consideration.
• Lead on the migration of financial processes for the charity’s trading subsidiary to a new finance system.
• Conduct internal audits and support compliance with statutory and charity regulatory requirements.
• Partner closely with operational teams and budget holders to strengthen financial understanding and performance.
• Contribute to a positive and collaborative finance team culture, supporting process improvements and knowledge sharing.

About You

You will be a part-qualified or qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA or equivalent) with strong experience in management accounting and developing robust cost and pricing models – ideally with experience working within commercial environments.

You’ll bring:

• Experience developing financial models, costings, and pricing work.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent Excel capability (modelling, data validation, pivot tables, lookup functions).
• Experience supporting non-finance colleagues with forecasting, variance analysis, and performance insight.

Desirable:

• Knowledge of Jet Reports for Business Central.

We are seeking a Community Development Officer to lead a major in-progress project improving recognition, support, and care for people with smell and taste disorders at a local level across England. 

This three-year, volunteer-led programme, funded by The National Lottery Community Fund has achieved significant success in its first eighteen months. We are now recruiting a new postholder to take this strong foundation forward through the next phase of delivery. 

Over the past eighteen months, we have recruited and established a thriving network of volunteers and local groups across England. This momentum is expected to continue. The Community Development Officer will work closely with existing volunteers and groups, primarily remotely, while also attending in-person events and meetings in different parts of England as needed. 

The postholder will lead the ongoing recruitment, training, and support of volunteer groups, working with them to identify opportunities for local outreach and engagement. Together, you will ensure that more people affected by smell and taste disorders access the information, support, and recognition they need, while continuing to raise awareness of these often-unrecognised sensory impairments. 

Our volunteer groups bring together people with lived experience alongside experts from the food, beverage and fragrance sectors, and other relevant fields.

You will be equally at home pitching a story to a national journalist, working with a senior consultant or scientist to draft a new Charity funded research story, briefing photographers, liaising with fundraisers to tell their story, writing newsletter and marketing copy or devising a communications plan.

The Charity team is responsible for raising millions of pounds each year to ensure Christie patients receive the very best care and treatment. In this role, you’ll be responsible for:

The Lead Coach is primarily responsible for overseeing the training room and group sessions with young people. You will help shape the training environment and will confidently adapt and deliver materials and sessions to work within the group’s development towards work readiness.

Delivery of Spear Programme - Group and 1:1 coaching [60%]

• Preparing and coaching Spear Foundation sessions and 1-1s, ensuring that young people are engaged, retained and work-ready by the end of this initial phase of the programme.
• Building relationships with young people on the programme and managing culture and attitudes in the training room.
• Adapting the Spear coaching material according to the needs of the Trainees and managing behaviour effectively.

Delivery of Spear Career [20%]

• Delivering weekly Spear Career sessions (including running workshops with past Trainees), maintaining records and reporting on statistics, and creatively developing ongoing relationships with Spear Trainees.

Training the Assistant Coach [10%]

• Contributing towards the training and developing of the Assistant Coach by modelling excellent coaching and giving regular feedback.

Trainee recruitment [10%]

• Developing relationships with Job Centres and local referral agencies to ensure that the maximum number of Spear Trainees are enrolled on each programme. This involves liaising with referral agencies, active face-to-face recruitment and monitoring recruitment statistics.

Continuous professional development

• Continually engaging in professional development, including being part of Resurgo’s wider coaching programmes and supporting the Programme Managers with overall team training and development.

Active participation in and support for church team and mission

• Engage with Sunday services, and establish a strong personal presence, including speaking at church/events if required, contributing to prayer meetings, and demonstrating spiritual leadership as per Resurgo’s Christian ethos and the mission of the church.
