The Trusts and Foundations Officer will support the Trusts and Foundations team to meet income targets and develop and maintain relationships with donors and prospects. The role combines supporting the Trusts and Foundations Manager, Senior Trusts Officer, and Head of Fundraising with the maintenance of existing relationships as well as generating their own income from both smaller and larger trusts. The successful candidate will demonstrate success in securing grants from charitable trusts, foundations, and institutional donors. Proven experience in trust and foundation fundraising, preferably within the nonprofit sector or a similar environment is essential.

About Us

The Upper Room (TUR) works with a wide range of financially and socially disadvantaged groups including homeless people, people with long-term mental health conditions, asylum-seekers, refugees and ex-offenders – helping them to improve their lives and become productive members of society. Central to our offering is our UR4Meals service, providing free, home-cooked food to people who cannot afford to provide for themselves. We are also very proud of our UR4Driving programme, which supports people recently out of prison with free driving lessons in exchange for community volunteering. The role

This newly scoped role reports into the CEO and is critical to our ability to create the income we need to keep up with the ever-increasing demand on our services. Primarily, the role has two fundamental elements to it: firstly, working with both a specialist external consultant and the CEO in planning, submitting and reporting on the grants that make up a large proportion of our income; and secondly, the planning and managing of TUR’s traditional (and always fun) annual events. These include celebrity interviews and talks, garden parties and various community events such as the Green Days festival in Chiswick. There are additionally a number of community relationships that add great value to our work and efforts to raise funds which require regular contact. Occasionally, the role will also require presenting or talking to both funders and community groups as we share our magnificent story with them – and ultimately, convince them to support us.

About You

You live within – or know well – West/Central London; you probably need a job with some working flexibility and want to have genuine belief in the cause you’re promoting. You have a CV that demonstrates experience in a comparable role: this could be in another charity, CIC or other Non-Profit organisation. You are comfortable and confident with working autonomously, so you will need to be disciplined; you can articulate and ‘bring to life’ our story through your advanced written and oral communication skills, enabling us to always deliver highly compelling reasons to secure gain financial (and other) support. You don’t need to be a Microsoft Office expert, but you should be familiar with Word, Excel and PowerPoint. At Ambitious about Autism, we're currently looking for a Policy and Campaigns Officer to join our team on a part time (0.4 FTE) basis.

The postholder will have a track record of influencing policy and an understanding and passion for issues affecting autistic children and young people across a range of areas, including education, employment, health and social care. We exist to fund research into beating blood cancer. In the past 60 years, we’ve invested more than £500 million into blood cancer research which has led to improved treatments and saved lives. Everything we do in the next five years will be based on a single aim – to stop people dying of blood cancer or the side effects of its treatments. We want to put people affected by blood cancer at the centre of everything we do. 

As Research Involvement Lead, you’ll be responsible for leading a programme of patient and public involvement in research, a core component of our charity wide involvement strategy. 

This role will ensure that our research strategy and funding programme is shaped by the priorities and needs of people affected by blood cancer. You’ll review and refine our processes to ensure they are in line with sector best practice and that they meet the needs of our community of people affected by blood cancer. You’ll further embed effective and meaningful involvement at all stages of the research cycle at Blood Cancer UK. 

You’ll also work to support the involvement of people affected by blood cancer in external research and strategic projects across the UK. Role:The Senior Development Officer ​plays an integral role within the Development Team at Forces Employment Charity (FEC). You will work with the Head of Development to produce high quality, bespoke proposals, and reports to demonstrate impact and outcomes to help drive the delivery of FEC across the UK. • Liaise with utility suppliers, Local Authorities, customers and colleagues to ensure accuracy of data, including meter readings, void and occupancy date for council tax.
• Provide supporting information to clarify property status and request amended accounts to reflect this.
• Where necessary, investigate and respond to enquiries, including account queries, this may include enquiries from contractors, suppliers and other third parties.
• Challenge where necessary, to ensure value for money and quality of service from suppliers.
• Manage meter move requests and arrange prompt payment whilst liaising with all involved parties.

• Take responsibility for the day to day processing of payments across the Business team to include all departmental accounting functions in relation to works orders, purchase and framework orders, credit notes and invoices across charity and administrative company accounts, with particular focus to void costs, within required timeframes and in line with Service Level Agreements.
• Produce data uploads for finance transactions, ensuring accuracy of data and sign off completed data.
• Working collaboratively alongside our Finance and Resources partners to ensure prompt payment and when required, investigate queries that arise.
• Escalate issues and problems to managers when necessary to ensure payments are made on time, thus avoiding late payment fees and charges.
• Where necessary, engage with suppliers, contractors and customers ensuring that information is clear, concise and understood to achieve resolution.

• Support the management of the legacy mortgage scheme, supporting the Business Services Team Leader and Business Administration Officer (Mortgages), providing clarity and support on a range of queries and tasks.
• Manage quinquennial inspections in line with stakeholder agreements, refunding customers and producing monthly update reports.
• Develop knowledge and skills on mortgage redemptions, working closely with solicitors and customers to progress and complete sales and redemptions promptly.

• To ensure that data held in QL / SAP is complete, accurate and reliable through regular assessment of data using analysis and cleansing where necessary and to take personal responsibility for ensuring the accuracy of data and recorded information across all business streams.
• Produce stakeholder reports, business reports and information to enable transparency across the business, in line with agreements and compliance.
• Data management and entry for key information relating to insurance revaluations, working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure insurance values are periodically reviewed.
• Produce and take responsibility for mail-merge data to enable communication to customers and stakeholders as and when required.

This role will support the delivery of our Impact and Evaluation strategy. This area of our work helps us to understand the impact of our grantmaking and creates and evaluates internal and external datasets to improve our work. Our Impact and Evaluation portfolio includes commissioning and undertaking new research, supporting our aim to publish studies on issues that affect children and young people living in poverty. 

We are a growing charity and our Impact and Evaluation department has a key role to play in the strategic and operational development of the charity as it grows. This role will support the delivery of that aim by working closely with the Impact and Evaluation Manager.

Responsibilities:

Data Collection: Assist with the collection and storage of research and survey data, including demographic data and outcomes indicators, employing quantitative and qualitative methods. Gather and engage with external open and government datasets. 

Database Administration: Retrieve and analyse datasets from internal databases, responding to requests for data from the team. Update and enter data into key dashboards to monitor trends and issues. 

Data Analysis: Assist with data analysis tasks, including cleaning and analysing quantitative data using software (e.g., Excel, PowerBI), as well as coding and analysing qualitative data using thematic analysis techniques.

Reporting and Presentations : Assist with the preparation of key reports, dashboards, and presentations summarising key findings, trends, and insights from impact and evaluation activities for fundraising purposes, including developing content for social media.

Evaluation Planning: Assist the implementation of evaluation plans for specific programs or initiatives. Contribute to planning large-scale projects, including the selection of appropriate evaluation methods, data collection tools, and evaluation frameworks.

Survey Administration: Assist with the design, administration, and analysis of surveys to gather feedback from grantees, staff, and other stakeholders. Monitor and act on grantee feedback, sharing relevant results with key staff.

Research Administration: Schedule and undertake interviews/focus groups, supported by the I&E Manager. Manage administrative activities such as contact with participants, transcription and coding.

Collaboration: Support the I&E Manager to collaborate with internal staff, research partners, and organisations in the sector to support evaluation activities.

We need your help to deliver insight-led creative campaigns across print media for a mass donor audience, aiming to grow supporter loyalty and inspire repeat donations and repeat actions across our products. You will use data to test and learn, optimising opportunities for our community to support.

You’ll join the small but mighty Individual Giving team, aiming to raise over £1.3 million in 2024/25, with ambition to grow in the future. Together with the Mass Engagement and Fundraising team, we strive to raise money to improve the lives of people with arthritis.
