Development Manager (Major Donor Fundraising) Jobs
We are seeking an experienced and ambitious Major Donor Manager to join our team. You will hold responsibility for creating a major donor portfolio for TLC, securing support from High Net Worth Individuals (HNWIs) and Philanthropists.
This is TLC’s first Major Donor role. Over the past few years our organisation’s size and reach has grown considerably. We have experienced much success in winning new contracts and generating income from grants and Trusts – however, large and unrestricted donations remain an untapped potential resource for TLC. As the need for our services grows, so does the need for funding.
About you
We’re looking for someone who is ambitious and not afraid of a challenge – we know our expectations are high and it’s an increasingly competitive landscape. However we’re fully committed to making this work and the successful candidate will have the support and backing of our incredibly talented team.
Key to success in this role will be your well-established networks, excellent relationship building and influencing skills and ability to articulate TLC: Talk, Listen, Change’s mission in a powerful and compelling way that leads people to make substantial donations. You’ll be comfortable delivering against ambitious (though realistic!) targets and we will incentivise exceptional performance.
You will work closely with our Director of Development and our wider Development and Marketing teams.
We’re particularly looking to diversify our leadership and management teams across TLC with people from global majority ethnicities, as we know we are under-represented in this area.
About us
TLC: Talk, Listen, Change is a relationships charity that has been providing support to individuals, couples, families, and communities in the North of England for over 40 years. The charity focuses on promoting emotional wellbeing through the cultivation of safe, healthy, and happy relationships. Originally serving Greater Manchester, the organisation has expanded its reach to help people all over England. We offer a range of services tailored to meet the diverse relationship challenges faced by the community. Our commitment to evolving our services ensures we continue to meet the growing needs of those we serve.
We value safe, healthy, and happy relationships both within the workplace and beyond, emphasising a culture that is safe, authentic, and person-centred, reflecting our commitment to valuing staff as much as the people we support. Our organisation takes pride in being progressive and inclusive. We have made specific commitments to staff well-being and inclusivity, such as the Age-Friendly Employer Pledge, supporting Afro-hairstyles through the Halo Code, and endorsing the White Ribbon campaign to end men’s violence against women. These initiatives support work to build an equitable and respectful work environment.
We aim to encourage a culture where people can be themselves and be valued for their strengths. We seek to attract and employ the best people from the widest pool, reflecting the diverse range of people we support.
We also believe in empowering our team members to bring their best to their work. That’s why we offer flexible working hours around core business times. We also provide an annual Professional Development allowance, a generous annual leave package, and even time off for your birthday, Health and Wellbeing Day and EDI-focused Volunteering Day.
We want to make our recruitment processes accessible to everyone. As standard practice we provide interview questions prior to the interview so we can concentrate on getting to know you. If there is any way that we can support you to be the best you can be, please contact us.

Rainforest Trust is a leading global organisation sponsoring the creation and expansion of protected and conserved areas, playing a central role in combating biodiversity loss and fighting climate change. We have already placed over 50 million acres under permanent protection across 72 countries, and recent surveys show that 99% of the rainforest we have protected since 1988 remains intact.
Rainforest Trust UK (RTUK) is set up as a separate charity to tax-efficiently raise funds from donors here in the UK for Rainforest Trust’s conservation projects. We are currently a team of 8 (part-time) people, but we are affiliated to, and supported by, the Rainforest Trust team in the U.S., which has a team of about 45 staff. When asked what they love most about working at Rainforest Trust UK our staff say it is feeling they are making a difference and taking direct action on some of the biggest issues of our time - climate change, biodiversity loss and Indigenous Peoples' rights. They also like being part of a small, friendly, and supportive team, where they feel they can have a direct input into decisions and our direction.
In 2023 the global charity raised $46 million for conservation projects in Africa, Asia-Pacific, and Latin America. The UK charity contributed £2.2m of this, and we are confident there is significant potential to increase our income from donors here. So, we are looking for an experienced, passionate, and highly personable fundraising professional to join our UK team, to help us identify, approach and cultivate relationships with new private individuals with the potential to make major contributions to our work.
This is a maternity cover contract so the successful candidate will need to get up to speed quickly, taking over responsibility for delivering the new Major Donor fundraising plan. The successful candidate will have previous experience of managing high level relationships and a track record of securing high value (5 and 6 figure) donations or new business. You will have outstanding interpersonal skills and be a confident communicator and able to build trusted relationships swiftly. As this is still a new role, in a relatively young charity, your ideas will help shape this work and you will play a crucial part in driving the growth and sustainability of our fundraising in the UK.
You might have existing experience working with high-value donors, however we also welcome applications from candidates who have transferable experience from other areas - for example a sales or account management background.
Key Responsibilities (see attached job description for full list)
-
Proactively research, identify, and cultivate a list of new potential donors (high-net-worth individuals), building a pipeline of people to approach for support.
-
Build and strengthen relationships with both existing and new supporters - developing and personally managing and inspiring a portfolio of individual donors and prospects, soliciting 5 and 6-figure gifts.
-

-
Develop inspiring and compelling ‘case for support’ literature
-
Regular stewardship including personalised updates, donor touches, invites to webinars/events etc
Person Specification - see attached job description document
Working Arrangements and Travel Requirements
Rainforest Trust UK staff work remotely and you will be expected to work primarily from home with an excellent internet connection. You may be based anywhere in the UK but you will be expected to work from a shared team space in London once a month, and your donor meetings/events are most likely to take place there.
The postholder will be required to host networking events and attend some online meetings with our partners in the U.S so some (early) evening working is required. We are also flexible as to how many hours this postholder works, and will consider a 3-5 day per week arrangement, depending on experience.

Fundraising Officer – Grants and Events
£35k FTE, PR 25 hours per week, flexible and hybrid, plus opportunities for ongoing L&D and training for sector-related qualifications (great candidates seeking a full-time role will still be considered)
About Us
The Upper Room (TUR) works with a wide range of financially and socially disadvantaged groups including homeless people, people with long-term mental health conditions, asylum-seekers, refugees and ex-offenders – helping them to improve their lives and become productive members of society. Central to our offering is our UR4Meals service, providing free, home-cooked food to people who cannot afford to provide for themselves. We are also very proud of our UR4Driving programme, which supports people recently out of prison with free driving lessons in exchange for community volunteering. Gaining a driving licence greatly enhances their future employability prospects and helps break the cycle of re-offending. Additionally, our UR4Jobs project focusses on both client wellbeing and breaking down the many barriers to employment faced by disadvantaged people every day.
The role
This newly scoped role reports into the CEO and is critical to our ability to create the income we need to keep up with the ever-increasing demand on our services. Primarily, the role has two fundamental elements to it: firstly, working with both a specialist external consultant and the CEO in planning, submitting and reporting on the grants that make up a large proportion of our income; and secondly, the planning and managing of TUR’s traditional (and always fun) annual events. These include celebrity interviews and talks, garden parties and various community events such as the Green Days festival in Chiswick. There are additionally a number of community relationships that add great value to our work and efforts to raise funds which require regular contact. Occasionally, the role will also require presenting or talking to both funders and community groups as we share our magnificent story with them – and ultimately, convince them to support us.
About You
You live within – or know well – West/Central London; you probably need a job with some working flexibility and want to have genuine belief in the cause you’re promoting. You have a CV that demonstrates experience in a comparable role: this could be in another charity, CIC or other Non-Profit organisation. You are comfortable and confident with working autonomously, so you will need to be disciplined; you can articulate and ‘bring to life’ our story through your advanced written and oral communication skills, enabling us to always deliver highly compelling reasons to secure gain financial (and other) support. You don’t need to be a Microsoft Office expert, but you should be familiar with Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Finally, you are self-motivated and energetic, as well as passionate about making sure disadvantaged groups across West London get the opportunity to improve their highly challenging lives. Ideally you will have a driver's licence and use of a car, but this is not essential.
In the first instance please send your CV (2/3 pages max please) along with a short covering letter (just a one-pager please) high-lighting why you believe you are a fit for the role.
