As our Director of Service Transformation, you will lead the exciting next phase of transforming our charity’s services to reach more disabled children, young people and their families. You will be responsible for sourcing and delivering contracts and partnerships essential for the charity’s sustainability by advancing our digital outreach and nurturing new partnerships and securing sustainable funds for innovative models of support. 

What you will be doing as the Director of Service Transformation:

• Lead and execute services strategies and plans that extend and transform the impact and financial sustainability of the charity’s services and support for disabled children, young people and their families. 
• Lead the design, development and sales of innovative new service models and the scaling of existing services.
• Work closely with the other executive directors and leadership team to achieve the generation of an annual financial surplus to reinvest in Kids. 
• Ensure the quality and safe delivery of all Kids’ services. 
• Ensure effective budget management underpins service development and delivery.  Ensure contracts and tenders are commercially negotiated and regularly monitored. Work with colleagues to identify and achieve necessary margins on contracts and projects for financial sustainability. 
• Inspire and lead a high performing services team; support colleagues to test, learn and adapt as the charity evolves and transforms its digital and in-person support offer.
• Be an inspiring, visible and collegiate leader and team player who works across team boundaries to help drive organisational change and nurture colleagues’ ability to perform at their best. 
• Model and lead effective communications with all colleagues that bring to life the charity’s values and behaviours. Support colleagues to ensure Diversity, Equity and Inclusion principles and practice are evidenced in service design and delivery. 
• Act as an ambassador for Kids on key platforms, carrying out media work as required; promote the charity’s products, services and work; and draw from services expertise to influence public policy and legislation relevant to disabled children and their families.

Development Director

Main Purpose and Scope of the Role

The Development Director will be a key part of the Action4Youth Senior Management Team, contributing to strategic development of the whole organisation and taking responsibility for the leadership and management of all aspects of business development, sales, fundraising, marketing and communications.

The Development Director will ensure development to support the Strategic and Operational Plans in order to achieve growth, sustainability and stability and to support the Action4Youth core offer i.e.  programme delivery and outdoor education.

Because Action4Youth is a relatively small organisation, teams are small and this means that even senior members of the team like Directors may have to cover for a team member when on leave or generally help out as necessary to achieve targets. In this particular role, that could mean undertaking basic tasks like completing a funding bid to meet a deadline, updating a webpage, writing blog posts or handling sales calls. This job is unusual in genuinely being both strategic and hands on.

Networking is an important part of this role so the post holder will often be expected to attend out of hours events to represent Action4Youth and to develop valuable relationships and connections.

Development/Sales

Fundraising

We need a new Director of Communications.  You’ll be responsible for helping us communicate the Gospel and the great work we do in our communities, and telling the good news stories that encourage and inspire us as we embark on our strategy to deliver the Diocesan vision to “bless the 1.5 million people” in our diocese who currently have no meaningful connection with our worshipping communities.  We need someone who can catalyse everyone in the diocese to be better communicators.

The successful candidate will have a wide-ranging experience of communication matters with the ability to promote our work in a positive and strategic manner, and manage media relations proactively and effectively.

The Dalit Solidarity Network UK is a small human rights organisation working to eliminate caste-based discrimination in the UK and South Asia. Registering as an official charity in 2003, Dalit Solidarity Network UK continues to grow as an effective campaigning and advocacy organisation, working on the issue of caste discrimination in the UK and being an active player in the global movement.  Our major areas of work include documenting 'everyday casteism', building capacity of businesses to address caste-discrimination in overseas supply chains and UK operations and working with UK Higher Education Institutions to protect against caste-discrimination.

Summary of the role:

We are seeking a new Director who will be responsible for working with the Board to:

i) Develop and deliver of DSN-UK's overall strategy and objectives;

ii) Provide strategic leadership to influence the policy and practice of key stakeholders to further DSN’s vision of a ‘world without caste discrimination’;

iii) Lead overall management of DSN-UK, including management of DSN-UK staff, its finances and other resources.

Main duties and responsibilities:

Leadership and strategy

Responsible for implementing DSN-UK’s strategy through specific campaign, lobbying and advocacy activities, including development of key messages and influencing strategies. 

Maintaining partnerships and network support within the UK, with partners in South Asia and international partners.

Conducting joint advocacy at UK/EU/UN level, representing these issues at UK Government level and participating in  other joint initiatives as appropriate.

Operational Management

Responsible for the day-to-day management of DSN-UK, including key  aspects of its internal administration, particularly providing oversight of financial management, annual budgets and the preparation of regular financial and programme reports for the Board.

Fundraising:

Leading the development and implementation of a fundraising strategy for DSN-UK, preparing funding proposals and reporting to donors on project achievements.

Human Resources:

Managing one part time office administrator and appointing other staff, volunteers and consultants in consultation with the Chair.

The Thalidomide Trust was established as a registered charity in 1973 to support individuals living with disabilities caused by their mothers taking thalidomide during pregnancy. Today, our support encompasses financial grants and guidance, together with comprehensive health and wellbeing support (including emotional support). We also undertake research to better understand the needs of our beneficiaries and provide vital information resources for professionals working with them. Secure funding means we can focus entirely on how to improve the lives of our beneficiaries.

We assist 430 beneficiaries, most of whom the Trust has worked with since they were children. We are often the first port of call for any issues they face. As our beneficiaries are now in their 60s, we must continue to evolve to meet their changing needs. The Trust is approaching a crucial transition point - effectively becoming an older person’s charity over the next 10-20 years, as the group’s needs become ever more complex and diverse. We must ensure we are ready to provide much-needed support to our beneficiaries as they face the typical challenges of aging that impact them more as thalidomide survivors, as well as the unique impacts and accelerated aging caused by thalidomide damage.

Our current Director of Health & Wellbeing is taking on the Joint Chief Executive role with our existing Executive Director. This means we need a new Director of Health & Wellbeing to join in October this year to lead our fantastic, 12-strong team of health & wellbeing professionals though this transition period. Role Summary

As the Director of Research and Public Affairs you lead a team working across the full range of research work (including commissioning, grant-making and in-house research) and public affairs work (including policy analysis, advocacy work and mobilising our activists). You also contribute to the charity’s strategies, leadership and governance as a member of the Executive Team. Ultimately, your role is to generate new knowledge; and communicate knowledge, ideas and emotions to change hearts and minds, creating tangible reductions in alcohol harm across the UK.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Leadership, strategy & planning

1. Lead the research and public affairs functions at Alcohol Change UK.

2. Produce and deliver plans across our research and public affairs work programmes that are ambitious for change (impact), realistic given our resources, and consistent with our strategy, our other work programmes, and our values.

3. Set budgets, tightly control costs and identify opportunities for making savings, growing income and making the case for investment.

4. Appropriately monitor and evaluate our research and public affairs work with a view to knowing, growing and showing the impact we make.

Research

5. Work closely with the CEO, Policy and Research Manager, R&P sub-committee and Wales Office to determine and oversee the charity’s programme of commissioned research, research grants, and in-house research.

6. Ensure that all research is designed with impact-in-mind and, once complete, that it delivers on that impact through active and ongoing communication of the findings to the right audiences with the right messages through the right channels.

7. Lead the research function to be the central hub for the charity on the topic of alcohol harm and its solutions, staying on top of new research.

8. Influence the research spending of other agencies (e.g. NIHR) with a view to maximising funding into alcohol research in general.

Public Affairs

9. Lead and manage the charity’s public affairs activity, deploying the CEO, Research & Policy Officer and other staff as a team.

10.  Lead our work with external alliances, such as the Alcohol Health Alliance and the Alcohol and Families Alliance, and on the APPG on Alcohol Harm.

11.  Develop excellent relationships with Parliamentarians, civil servants, charities and other important institutional actors in our field.

12.  Build Campaigner journeys for our engagement audience to best mobilise them to help us with our influencing work.

13.  Lead on the commissioning and management of any external public affairs agencies, parliamentary monitoring services and similar suppliers.

14.  Ensure our policy positions are kept up-to-date, based on emerging evidence and contemporary thinking, and consistent with our principles.

15.  Work closely with the Director of Engagement and Fundraising to effectively mobilise and deploy our activists, Community Champions and other supporters so they (i) make a difference, (ii) become better informed over time, and (iii) remain motivated to campaign for our cause.

The Director of People and Culture leads on fostering a positive work environment in order to help develop a strong organisational culture, providing high quality leadership and oversight on the development and delivery of Girls Not Brides’ People and Culture strategy. As a people and culture senior level professional, you will have an evidential understanding of all aspects of HR practices, both UK and International. This is a pivotal role supporting the transformation of Girls Not Brides, leading the delivery of a workforce strategy that ensures we have a stable, sustainable, skilled, dynamic, and diverse workforce capable of delivering the goals of the organisation. You will be someone who can balance creativity with pragmatism, and expertise with a desire to learn, and a demonstrable alignment with our commitment to championing well-being, diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). The role contributes to and plays a critical role in broad organisational leadership and strategic development, partnering with the senior leadership team in strategic decision-making.

Contract

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Planning and Organisational Leadership

• Lead the development and implementation of Girls Not Brides’ people and culture strategies to deliver on the vision, mission and goals set out in the Secretariat and Partnership strategies, 2022-2025.
• Lead the creation of an inclusive organisational culture, values, plans, and HR policies that are rooted in and informed by a deep commitment to the values of Girls Not Brides and to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).
• Contribute to broad organisational leadership and strategic development, as a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT).
• Advise and inform the CEO, Board and SLT colleagues on strategic issues relating to Human Resources, People management and organisational culture.

Talent Acquisition

• Lead the development and implementation of Girls Not Brides’ people management and acquisition strategies to deliver on the vision.
• Oversee the development of strategies to identify talent; establish and oversee equitable and inclusive recruitment and hiring processes for all employees.
• Oversee the development of a comprehensive onboarding and staff orientation strategy.
• Oversee offboarding of staff, including exit interviews; analyse data to surface potential cultural issues or other staff concerns; make recommendations to the SLT for continuous improvements.

Staff Well-Being

• Lead on the development and implementation of a staff well-being policy and oversee the effective use of processes for day-to-day provision across the organisation.

• To provide leadership, direction and co-ordination for the Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) and staff support services, including occupational health.

Organisational Culture

Essex & Herts Air Ambulance, unlike NHS emergency services, is a charity. This free life-saving service is provided 24/7 by helicopters and rapid response vehicles.

Each critical care team consists of a pilot and co-pilot, a pre-hospital care doctor and a critical care paramedic.

They can be rushed to the scene with life-saving support equipment to deliver advanced clinical care, usually only in the hospital emergency department.

Once stabilised, the patient will be conveyed to the most appropriate hospital by air or land.
