Head of Development – Museums and Gardens

• Location: Oxford – hybrid working may be an option
• Salary: Grade 9: £52,815 - £61,198 per annum with a possible extension to £66,857.

We are looking for a talented fundraiser, with a background in the cultural sector to join the Gardens, Libraries & Museums (GLAM) Team within the Development and Alumni Engagement team of the University of Oxford.

You will be working with such iconic institutions as the Pitt Rivers Museum, the Oxford Botanic Gardens, the History of Science Museum and the Oxford University Museum of Natural History.  In this role in any given week you might see a dodo, extraordinary thousand-year old Chinese ceramics, insects collected by Darwin, the first scientifically described dinosaur and drawings by John Ruskin, as well as work on projects involving saving the largest flower in the world or supporting world-leading restitution work.

The collections are important and renowned on their own accounts, but also play a key role in the University’s research.  In addition, they are the open doors to the University of Oxford, encouraging a diverse range of communities to engage our academics and curators.

Your role will include fundraising for major gifts to support the museums and gardens, and leading a team of fundraisers who will work to support a wide range of activities across the institutions.  You will also work closely with the Directors and other curators to raise funds from a range of donors and supporters. You will work with the Associate Director of Development – GLAM to develop strategies and manage relationships with the Directors and be part of the wider fundraising team for GLAM.

EduSpots is an innovative, dynamic, and community-driven UK and Ghanaian registered charity which connects, trains, and equips voluntary community educators to drive community-led change through education spaces named ‘Spots’. Our vision is of our world where communities unite to create the futures they want to see, through education.

Since 2016, through collaborating extensively with over 250 local volunteers, who take a central leadership role in the development of the network, we have supported 50 communities in creating and running community-led and owned education spaces named ‘Spots’, with a strategy to support them in moving towards our ‘Dream Spot Model’. Together, we are developing a model for a community-led education space with accompanying network engagement that could have relevance in settings across the world. 

Our Ghana-based programmes team creates collaborative learning opportunities through three leadership programmes for volunteers: the Ignite, Catalyse and Peer Mentoring Programmes. These enable them to lead EduLit, EduSTEM, EduKidz and Ignite Equity clubs, alongside locally designed education projects, reaching over 10,000 students of all ages annually. About this role

We are looking for an experienced and dynamic fundraising professional, with a proven track record of income generation and a strong ability to develop impactful relationships with the skills to bring aligned individuals and organisations into our long-term EduSpots community. The post holder will be creative, passionate and self-motivated, with strong marketing and communications skills, able to design and implement strategic fundraising approaches. 

In this role, you will take on responsibility for identifying, creating and delivering impactful fundraising strategies that enable us to generate further relationships and income in support of our programmes. 

You will oversee the development of our individual giving and monthly giving strategies and further develop relationships with schools, corporate organisations and NGOs, with a focus on resource acquisition (e.g. books, electronic devices) alongside fundraising. You will also play a supportive role in events and campaigns, and work closely with our Head of Communications to ensure our marketing and communications strategy is integrated with our fundraising aims. Currently, we already have a trusts and foundations manager, but would welcome applicants with experience of trust fundraising.

Main Duties and Responsibilities 

The key responsibilities of this role are to:

• Develop our individual giving and monthly giving strategies, including:

  • Ensuring we have the right tools in place.

  • Strengthening thanking and communications to existing supporters.

  • Trialling new strategies for outreach to new audiences.

• Organise occasional fundraising events (e.g. face-to-face events in London; virtual events and fundraising challenges).

• Support organisation and delivery of appeals and campaigns (e.g. the Big Give).

• Support the development of impactful relationships with schools, universities, corporates and NGOs for fundraising and resource acquisition (e.g. books, digital devices, science equipment). 

• If time and experience, possibly support grant applications. 

• Line manage, and provide support to, the intern/s (fundraising). 

Other

• Ensure all administrative tasks relating to the role are carried out accurately.

• To comply at all times with the organisation's policies, procedures and performance expectations of staff as set out in the Staff and Volunteers Handbook.

• To ensure compliance with data protection legislation.

Skills, Experience and Attributes

Essential

• Proven track record of successful income generation from individuals or communities - ideally in a similar education / international development organisation 

• Experience of developing and maintaining successful income generating relationships (e.g. with schools, corporates, individuals, communities)

• Experience of digital marketing to engage new charity supporters / donors (including using paid advertising and innovative engagement techniques)

• Experience of email marketing and donor conversion strategies

• Strong communication and marketing skills, ideally with basic design skills (Canva)

• Ability to work effectively in a remote based role with minimal day-to-day support 

• Outstanding interpersonal skills 

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

• Ability to use own initiative and work to tight and competing deadlines

• Ability to effectively manage workload and prioritise tasks 

• Good IT skills - Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Zoom, Canva, Social Media

At The Mare and Foal Sanctuary, we’re dedicated to developing deeper knowledge and better practice on how to give every horse and pony their best life. As part of our Fundraising and Marketing Communications team, the Visitor Engagement Manager will develop and implement our new visitor engagement strategy to enable people to connect with our rescued horses and ponies through an exceptional visitor experience across our Sanctuaries in Devon – in Totnes, Newton Abbot, Yelverton and Holsworthy.  This role plays a pivotal part in improving the Sanctuary’s brand and profile and raise income to fund its charitable objectives.

· You will be based at our Coombe Park Equestrian and Education Centre near Totnes. 

· This is an annualised hours contract based on 37.5hours per week with flexibility to work weekends, holidays and evenings. The role is fixed term for 12 months with potential to become permanent.

What You Will Be Doing:-

Help build a visitor destination

You'll be at the forefront of developing and executing our visitor engagement strategy to enable meaningful public engagement, with a particular focus at our Coombe Park Equestrian and Education Centre which we aim to open as a visitor attraction with hire facilities from 2025. 

Commercialise our facilities
Develop and commercialise hire of our indoor and outdoor arenas, and from 2025 our equine riding simulator, while balancing the needs of our working sanctuary.

Create memorable events
Develop and execute a programme of high-quality engagement events for the public and equestrian community.  This also includes facilitating drop-in sessions for the Charity’s supporters and maximising existing income-raising schemes such as visiting to adopt a pony and in-memoriam.

 Lead by example

Recruit, train, supervise and motivate visitor engagement team members and volunteers, ensuring they provide exceptional customer service.

Oversee daily operations of visitor engagement services across all sanctuaries, including facilities, ticketing, information desks and customer support.  You will work collaboratively and communicate effectively with managers and staff at these multi-sites.

 Network with purpose
Expertly network in the South West to establish The Mare and Foal Sanctuary as a visitor destination and manage our membership with relevant destination management organisations.   

Stay on top of trends
Monitor visitor feedback and conduct surveys to continuously improve services and programmes. Analyse visitor data and trends to inform decision making and strategic planning.

Keep visitors safe

Ensure compliance with health and safety, accessibility standards and other relevant Charity policies and procedures.

 Manage the budget
Manage budgets and resources for visitor engagement activities, ensuring cost-effectiveness and efficiency, and aim to meet key performance indicators and annual budgeted income.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have the following:

• A social care, health or education professional or have substantial and extensive experience in engaging with children and young people
• Ability to write high quality, evidenced child protection risk assessments.

• Up-to-date knowledge of child protection legislation and practical experience of child protection and welfare issues
• Some supervisor or management experience would be advantageous

You will have proven experience of corporate fundraising, successfully securing corporate income and maintaining excellent relationships with donors, as well as, experience in the corporate partnerships landscape having successfully secured funds from identification, to application and pitching stage. About First Give

First Give inspires young people to make a difference to the causes they care about. We do this through working in partnership with secondary schools, providing a fully resourced scheme of work that guides an entire year group of students to engage with local charities and causes and then carry out social action (fundraising, raising awareness, campaigning, volunteering etc) in support of them.

At the end of each programme, a celebratory School Final is held at each school, where groups representing each class deliver presentations about their projects. The class considered to have engaged the best with the programme secures a First Give grant of £1,000 for their chosen charity. By the end of the programme, however, the whole year group will have given back meaningfully to their local community.

Programme Delivery Officer role

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic candidate to join our Programmes Team as a Programme Delivery Officer. PDOs will be responsible for supporting and coordinating the delivery of the First Give programme in up 50 schools, ensuring smooth running of the programme, plus providing guidance and troubleshooting for the lead teachers at First Give partner schools.

The role will be hybrid, with 3 days a week in our main offices in West Hampstead, London. Regular travel to schools across London and the South East will be required.

• Contract: Full time, permanent
• Salary: £28,000 (inclusive of London weighting)
• Location: London office 3 days per week, 2 days per week working from home
• Reporting to: Programme Manager

Key responsibilities

• Provide logistic and programme support to teachers delivering the First Give programme at their school, including but not limited to:
  • an introductory Programme Call with the Lead teacher;
  • delivering a briefing to class teachers;
  • troubleshooting via phone and email;
  • booking in First Give facilitated sessions
• Ensure all programmes are delivering all core elements of the First Give programme
• Update and monitor Salesforce to track programme delivery
• Liaise with freelance facilitators to ensure events at schools are effectively staffed
• Deliver Launch Assemblies, Workshops and First Give Finals in partner schools
• Collect data for monitoring (student surveys, teacher surveys, identifying potential stories of impact, writing programme reports)
• Ensure prompt delivery of any programme resources required by schools (including Coursebooks and other physical resources)
• Support in the collection and distribution of comms via social media, newsletters and other formats to raise awareness of First Give’s work
• Support with wider team projects as and when is necessary

Our client, a leading London University, is currently looking to recruit a full-time (35 hours per week) Senior Assessments and Faculty Liaison Officer.  The post is to start as soon as possible and is a 1 year fixed-term contract. The post will be hybrid working of 1 day per week on site (Wednesday), and the rest remote.
 
Key responsibilities for this post will include:
 

• Collaborating with faculties and central teams to maintain accurate, up-to-date assessment records using the Student Records Management System (SITS)
• Importing student assessment data
• Liaising between faculties and central services to provide guidance on the university’s processes, procedures, and regulations
• Supporting the production and issue of all official university certificates and transcripts, and issue of all replacement certificates
• Managing the authentication of degree certificates and transcripts, and the HEDD (education verification) process

 
To be considered for this role you will have:
 

• Worked in a similar post previously, ideally from within a higher education setting
• Good working knowledge of the student management system SITS, and processes surrounding this, which can be from areas including: Programme Administration/Student Records/Assessments/Examinations.

We are recruiting for two Peer Support Leads: 

The Hepatitis C Trust has developed projects nationally whereby peers use their lived experience of injecting drug use and hepatitis C, to provide education and training to increase awareness of hepatitis C, reduce stigma, and promote access to testing and treatment for people living with hepatitis C. 

Do you have experience of working in drug services and with volunteers? Have you been affected by hepatitis C, or have you supported anyone who has hepatitis C? We are looking for a passionate and skilled peer lead who has excellent communication and organisational skills. We require a good standard of education and welcome creativity and innovation in all our work.  

Alongside a growing team, these posts will continue the development and delivery of the Hepatitis C peer project, recruiting and supporting volunteer peers across Bristol, and also Bath, Weston, and surrounding areas. Working in partnership with hepatitis C clinical teams, drug and alcohol services and homeless service providers, the post will coordinate delivery of educational workshops, hepatitis C testing in community settings, ensure that service users are referred and supported through hepatitis C treatment and care.

Transforming Lives for Good (TLG) are a national Christian charity working in partnership with local churches to give struggling children hope and a future.
