Job Title:  Training Lead: Parents and Volunteers

Hours:         2.5 days a week 

Salary:    £32,000 for Cardiff Based/£34,000 for London Based

Reports to:     Head of Services

Location:        Cardiff or London (Brockley SE4)

We are seeking a motivated, compassionate and engaging training lead for our parent and volunteer training programs. The training lead for parents and volunteers will lead on the design, development and delivery of a program of training support for parents impacted by Child Sexual Abuse and will support with the delivery of the training for new We Stand volunteers.

Role Description 

To plan, develop and deliver parent training and workshops for protective parents and carers whose

children have been sexually abused; to support parents and carers to understand and process the impacts of child sexual abuse and learn strategies for supporting their children after abuse together with those who share similar experiences. To work collaboratively with We Stand colleagues, to provide support that is accessible, appropriate, timely and tailored to suit the needs of individual clients.

To contribute to the recruitment and selection of We Stand volunteers including student therapists on placement and helpline volunteers. To lead on the delivery of induction and training for all new volunteers and ensure that they are adequately prepared and supported to begin their placement with We Stand.

Parent Training: 

Parent training and workshops are designed to support parents following a disclosure of CSA. The training focuses on providing parents and carers with the useful information and strategies they need to manage and support their child or young person’s journey of recovery. Via 1:1 or group sessions, parents gain the knowledge they need to help them support their child and regain confidence in themselves.

Key Responsibilities

Design and development of content 

• Setting up an annual program of training and workshop delivery for parents and carers

• Ongoing review and development of content to ensure the program is up to date and tailored to the needs of clients

Managing referrals and Assessment of clients 

• Working collaboratively with We Stand colleagues to promote training and workshops to relevant parents and carers

• Managing referrals to training and workshops and assessing the suitability of clients for the program

• Be a point of contact for parents and carers on the waiting list for training and workshops

Delivery of group and individual training 

• Deliver We Stand’s 4-week training programme for parents and carers

• Be a point of contact and support for parents during and immediately after their involvement in the program

• Where appropriate, deliver 1:1 training slots to parents and carers who require this additional support due to e.g. those with additional needs, high levels of anxiety or a particularly complex situation (including sibling abuse)

• Keep accurate and appropriate records for every parent/ carer attending training and workshops

Monitoring and Evaluation 

• Ensure that robust monitoring and evaluation processes are in place to capture the experience of all parents and carers attending training and workshops

• Analyse evaluation data against programme aims and objectives to ensure outcomes are being met and to inform service developments

• Take responsibility for continuous improvement of processes to support the effective delivery of training and workshops for parents and carers

• Contribute towards reports for funders, and the We Stand Board of Trustees 

• Contribute to relevant fundraising applications, as required

Volunteer Training 

We Stand relies on a team of dedicated and skilled volunteers to help us deliver life-changing support to families impacted by child sexual abuse. We are committed to ensuring all volunteers have the information, resources and support they need to carry out their role effectively and have a positive experience during their time with the organisation. This includes via a comprehensive training and induction programme and ongoing professional development.

Key Responsibilities

Recruitment and selection

• Contribute to the recruitment and selection of new volunteers following a best practice volunteer recruitment process

Induction training programme 

• Oversee and coordinate an annual program of induction training for new and existing volunteers

• Lead on the delivery  of a 4-week programme to induct new volunteers

• Assist with the review and development of content to ensure the program is up to date and tailored to the needs of volunteers

Monitoring and Evaluation 

• Ensure that robust monitoring and evaluation processes are in place to capture the experience of all volunteers attending induction training

• Analyse evaluation data against programme aims and objectives to ensure outcomes are being met and to inform training developments

Other duties: 

• Attend regular clinical supervision, supported by We Stand

The role

The Head of Practice leads on best practice and practice development across Business Disability Forum. This includes leading and overseeing the work of the Advice Service to support our members and Partners and acting as the primary referral point for complex queries, collating and sharing best practice from within our membership and the impact of BDF best practice advice. They will also lead the delivery of the BDF internal upskilling programme to ensure that all Member and Partner facing teams are at the forefront of best practice in delivering high quality advice and support.

They will also work closely with the Content Team to ensure that BDF’s resources reflect the latest best practice and with the Policy Team to ensure BDF’s advice and resources reflect the latest policy and research thinking and to maintain our position as thought leaders.

The requirement

• Experience of leading and managing experts on diversity and inclusion related situations and of motivating.
• A demonstrable track record of relationship building at a senior level leading to tangible results.
• Experience of providing consultancy, training and advice on disability related issues.
• Experience of presenting to senior management and the board.
• Experience of working in human resources, talent management, or organisation development to at least adviser level.
• High level of understanding and knowledge of the Equality Act 2010 and recent disability related case law in the UK and Globally.

Training and Education Lead

Position: Training and Education Lead: Parental Cover (8 months)

Location: London/Hybrid

About the role:

This role is for an events person who can support our training and development courses. These courses are delivered either face-to-face or hybrid and are often delivered by a team of the organisation’s members. We use tools such as WebEx, MS Teams and Slido to support the delivery. There is an agreed schedule for the rest of 2024 for our public (open) training plus some bespoke, in-house training to be agreed upon with clients. There will also be additional in-house training to be secured for the remainder of 2024 and the first part of 2025.

The role holder will work within our professional development team, headed up by the director of professional development. They will report directly to the director and work alongside other team members to deliver an effective apprenticeship programme.

Our working pattern is hybrid, with attendance in the office expected for three days per week, including every Wednesday. You may also be expected to attend events across the UK and overseas.

Key responsibilities include:

• Negotiate contracts with suppliers to meet the agreed requirements and budget, liaising with the DPD as required.
• Organise and attend volunteer Working Party meetings as required.
• Working with the volunteers, external suppliers and DPD, ensure all requirements are clearly defined, appropriate and in place for the course to be delivered.
• Liaise with suppliers and contributors to deliver and sign off the online activity.
• Work with the DPD and others to identify potential speakers.
• Support the DPD to negotiate and agree contracts with speakers.
• Work with clients and speakers to agree on delivery dates.
• Process bookings via iMIS, including sending confirmations to delegates.
• Respond to queries from potential delegates and their employers.
• Support current delegates with queries on their programme and progress.
• Work with the DPD and Financial Controller to put together the draft budget for specific events, bursary scheme, or online development activities.
• Supply up-to-date information on the bursary holder’s progress and course uptake to inform budgetary, marketing, and other management decisions.

About you:

To be successful in this role, you will need experience managing events (face to face and hybrid) including liaising with speakers and managing the technology. You will be able to work with colleagues to identify and contact potential speakers. You will also be able to manage the budget for the course delivery. To be successful at the organisation, you will need to be able to work in a small team, be flexible in accommodating changing priorities and thrive in an ever-changing environment.

You will also bring with you the following skills and experience:

• A qualification or experience in event management including online and bespoke courses.
• Strong planning and prioritisation skills with the ability to multitask.
• Excellent oral and written English.
• Excellent organisational and administrative skills including record-keeping and attention to detail.
• Excellent Customer Service skills.

• Basic financial awareness and understanding for example working to a budget and controlling costs.
• General IT skills including MS Office (e.g. Word mail merges and Excel reporting).
• An aptitude to learn new software/portals and experience with customer databases such as iMIS, webinars and eLearning platforms will be an advantage.

Who we are.

The Orchard Project brings orchards into the heart of urban communities, along with the many benefits they provide: environmental, physical, mental, social, and educational. They are the only national charity dedicated to the creation, restoration and celebration of community orchards.

About the role.

As Head of Fundraising and a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, you’ll work closely with the CEO to devise the organisation’s fundraising strategy as they enter a positive and ambitious new five-year plan.

There is a very well-established trust and foundation fundraising programme, which you’ll work to continue and expand, building on existing relationships and spotting opportunities to create new partnerships with relevant funders. Using creativity, you will secure multiyear unrestricted six-figure grants from an array of grantmakers as you continue the diversification of this income stream.

Key Accountabilities:

Identifying and securing new employer partnerships:

• Lead on identifying different opportunities to generate income growth for our charity, including ‘charity of the year’ partnerships and developing and promoting a range of attractive strategic opportunities for corporates/ employers looking to sponsor and fund our charity;
• Researching and developing a prospect pipeline, including spending time generating new leads and meeting clients, to support the development of new corporate partners and ensure that CRM information is continuously updated;
• From this pipeline, identify, contact, and pitch to prospective partners about the benefits to them of supporting the charity. Prepare and deliver compelling and evidence-based pitches and presentations including developing assets and proposals, reporting, credentials, and pitch decks to support income generation from employer partnerships;
• Generate awareness and visibility of the Education and Employers’ partnership proposition – e.g. delivering a regular series of virtual and face to face sessions to engage with new organisations and sell the benefits of Education and Employers corporate funded partnerships;
• Ensure these briefing sessions are supported by valued current partners who can outline the benefits they themselves have seen organisationally and at an individual employee level leading to the establishment of new partnerships and income from employers;
• Developing an advocates/trusted partner approach by ensuring we equip our trustees, staff, and close partners with organisational assets to share across their wider connections;
• To explore and engage with Social Value/CSR networks, consultancies, and professional bodies to be their programme/charity of choice to deliver social value programmes on behalf of their clients’/ members’ behalf;
• Stay up to date with trends in charity fundraising from corporate partnerships and review how charities in the wider sector are best succeeding in this area.

Establishing, negotiating, and managing new partnerships and further developing existing employer partnerships:

• Negotiating new funding partnerships with clients that are deliverable, cost-effective, and generate money in addition to the cost of managing the partnerships;
• Persistently and professionally following up with clients at different stages of interest, in order to move forward and hopefully convert these partnership discussions into signed contracts/ commitments – i.e. moving discussions along to ‘close the deal’;
• Building strong relationships through a stewardship programme to engage with partners in a variety of ways on a regular basis, in particular with existing partners that are not currently funding partners to transition them to a funded model;
• To work closely with the current Partnerships Manager to effectively handover all successful bids to the Partnership Manager to develop project plans and delivery timelines;
• Design and develop organisational wide project implementation tools and processes to ensure end to end project management supports consistency in delivery, tracking and evidencing impact to successfully achieve strategic priorities and secure new and ongoing funding sources;
• Ensure all contact development activity is recorded on our Customer Relationship Manager system (Salesforce) so that we have clear oversight of our contact history and touchpoints with employers and networks;

Team management and working with the SMT and wider charity to develop employer partnerships:

• Supporting with seeking out new funding opportunities and writing bids that support the organisation to meet it strategic aims including regularly reviewing funding and grants websites;
• Work with colleagues across the organisation to support and create engagement opportunities for corporate partners and prospects that align with our strategic plan;
• Work closely with the Communications Manager and Director of Schools Programmes to create innovative ways to engage new corporate partners, via local networks and social media.
• Future line management of the Employer & Business Development Manager;
• To work closely and proactively with SLT, stakeholder partners and trustees to support and enhance our collective work with employers and to ensure a joined up, strategic approach;

Other

• Represent Education and Employers and the Senior Management Team at external events and conferences as appropriate;

• Demonstrable experience of generating income from researching, establishing, and developing employer and/ or professional organisation partnerships;

Reporting to the Country Director, the Head of Programmes will provide strategic programme direction, managerial and programme leadership, and oversight on all aspects of strategy development, programme development and management in water, sanitation and hygiene including significant component of public health programmes and projects. S/he is responsible for strategic programme leadership of programmes, programme design, management, quality assurance and partner support. S/he will provide an oversight of the quality of the programmes that reflect adherence to global and WaterAid standards and donor guidelines, while fostering innovation to improve effectiveness and impact ensuring the delivery and overall success of WaterAid's Country Programme Strategy (2023-2028). The role enhances WaterAid's existing portfolio of programmes and partnerships, working closely with Policy and Advocacy and diverse expertise to design and showcase WaterAid's service delivery models, and innovation with the aim of influencing for wider and transformational change in support of WaterAid's vision and strategy.

The Head of Programmes is a member of the Senior Management Team. S/he will have a strong professional relationship with the Regional Programme Manager, based in the Regional Team to ensure that global standards on programme quality, planning, monitoring, evaluation, and assurance are applied in country programme. At the Country Programme level, the Head of Programmes will have a strong professional relationship with the Head of Advocacy and Policy, Head of Funding, Head of Finance and Senior Programme staff.

Specifically, the Head of Programmes, will be responsible for the following amongst others:

• Provide strategic programme direction for the design of the Country Programme strategic frameworks and plans, including the development of resource mobilization strategies to optimize the impact of programme interventions in line with the Country Strategy and WaterAid's regional and global strategic priorities.
• Collaborate closely with the health sector to empower them to prioritise Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) initiatives and embed hygiene practices as fundamental pillars of public health.
• Lead the execution of WaterAid's programmatic approaches that include Systems Strengthening Approach, Gender transformative WASH, Hygiene Behavioural-Centred Approach and Design methodologies, and Human rights-based approach (HRBA) into all aspects of WASH programming and operations.

Reporting to the CFO, the Head of Finance is responsible for leading a team of 5 and overseeing the day-to-day financial management of the charity, supporting and developing its financial strategies. • To work with the Partnerships Manager to secure Fundraising income from individual givers, major donors, Crowdfunding campaigns and other fundraising initiatives in line with our annual target (likely to be in the range of £200k).
• To develop and execute an annual fundraising strategy: building a sustainable portfolio consisting of grants and donations from individuals, corporates, trusts and foundations, to ensure long-term sustainable funding of activities.
• To research and prospect future funders.
• To maintain precise and up-to-date records on current and potential supporters and prospects.
• To create engaging fundraising communication tools.
• To establish partnerships for joint programmes and funding bids where beneficial.

Donor stewardship & reporting

• To retain current donors and maximise fundraising opportunities, including delivering a programme of appropriate stewardship opportunities with the core team.
• To work with the team to co-design programmes and their evaluation requirements to ensure the organisation meets the grant funders' requirements. 
• To complete reporting to grant funders, including developing report templates, creating reports, case studies, and other administrative requirements. 

Communications

• To input into MIH’S communications strategy and the planning and implementation of improvements to marketing plans, digital presence and social media strategy to ensure impact and fundraising successes are communicated
• To maintain a stock of impact-focused case studies and success stories and ensure fundraising successes are communicated on social media and online.
• To ensure the robust monitoring and reporting on the effectiveness of fundraising strategies and campaigns; providing key input to the annual report and impact report.
• To coordinate fundraising events with the Community Partnerships Manager. 

Line Management

• To have direct line management responsibility for the Community Partnerships Manager and Social Media & Marketing Manager, creating a supportive environment for growth and development.
