Katherine Low Settlement’s work with older people 

Katherine Low Settlement has worked with older people since its conception.  We provide, often in partnership, a range of projects and activities for older people including a Lunch Club, social sessions and exercise groups. We work with older people to: 

• Encourage active and independent living 
• Reduce isolation and loneliness 
• Improve well-being and prevent ill-health 
• Enable older residents to be dynamic and contributing members of the Wandsworth community. 

We are seeking a Temporary Support Worker for the KLS Elders Programme to assist during the summer months. Responsibilities include supporting minibus transport, aiding in the lunch club and social activities, and contributing to the overall well-being of our elderly members.

Key Responsibilities:

• Escort and assist elders during minibus transport.
• Support social sessions and the lunch club.
• Help set up and pack away rooms for activities.
• Assist with day trips and other duties as needed.
• Work closely with the Elders Team and volunteers.

* Significant experience of fundraising from Major Donors and Corporates or Trusts, with a track record of growing income
* Successful long-term relationship building skills, putting supporter/stakeholder experience front and centre
* Robust experience of implementing successful strategic fundraising plans to grow income
* Experience of identifying and delivering successful new commercial/sponsorship partnerships

Rethink Mental Illness is seeking a part-time Head of Strategic Partnerships and Alliances, to deliver strong collaborative operational leadership to the evolving VCFSE alliance programme in the London borough of Tower Hamlets.

 

Background

In 2019 NHS England set out a bold and radical redesign of community mental health services through the publication of the community mental health framework for adults and older adults. In response, Rethink Mental Illness published Communities that Care: a blueprint for supporting people severely affected by mental illness in their communities.

We believe that to really transform previously broken and fragmented systems of mental health support, communities and organisations must come together in the spirit of collaboration.

This cannot be delivered by any one organisation on their own. Supporting local systems to work more effectively together through partnerships and alliances is a key component of our five-year strategy.

The work of our Strategic Partnerships & Alliances Division is critical in achieving this objective.  The division includes the local teams providing alliance leadership, participation, delivery and infrastructure support. We bring together expertise from across the charity - on co-production, community engagement, alliance building, infrastructure and corporate resources.

This specialist support interfaces with place-based partnership and alliance teams who are working with local VCFSE groups, charities, community organisations, citizens, NHS and social care, in places around England to transform community mental health services and build communities that care around people affected by mental illness.

Tower Hamlets VCFSE Alliance - the journey so far…..

For the past three years the development of a mental health VCFSE alliance in Tower Hamlets has been enabled by a grant Rethink Mental Illness received from the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF).

This grant enabled Rethink to focus on supporting alliance development in four places in England, including Tower Hamlets.  The Alliance has now secured funding from East London NHS Foundation Trust to further develop the alliance structure and infrastructure, to enable the alliance to thrive and to move into the next phase of development and delivery, with a focus on:

3. Co-production
4. Community leadership
5. Sustainable funding
6. Addressing inequalities
7. Workforce sustainability

About the role:

As Head of Strategic Partnerships and Alliances you will work with leaders across the partner organisations of the Tower Hamlets Mental Health Alliance to enable the realisation of the Alliance’s objectives across all these areas.

You will provide a facilitation and coordination function to the alliance, including elements of quality assurance & compliance, commissioner interface and relationships, reporting and due diligence. You will maintain and develop purposeful and managed partner relationships across all existing Alliance members and nurture growth and inclusion of other VCSE organisations across Tower Hamlets.

About you:

You will have a strong experience and background in contract management, project mobilisation across complex workstreams and compliance.  With proven experience in managing and maintaining strong working partner relationships in a complex and nuanced VCFSE environment is essential, including:

• Understanding of the ambitions of the NHS community mental health frameworw
• Knowledge and understanding of Tower Hamlets Mental Health sector and VCFSE sector
• A commitment to listen and to build relationships across difference
• A strong understanding and commitment to anti-racism and exploring anti-racism practice

Working arrangements:

This is a part-time role for 23 hours per week (worked between 09:00 and 17:00 Monday to Friday).  The post holder will work flexibly as required by the needs of the alliance projects. 

The base salary is £45,284 (pro rata) – actual salary for 23 hours is £29,758.06 per annum.

For post holders living or based in Greater London, £3,000 (pro rata) per annum London Allowance applies.  Actual amount for 23 hours per week is £1,971.43 per annum.

The role is home-based with access to our Head office hub in Vauxhall for the purpose of internal meetings, collaboration, or occasional hot desking.

The post holder will frequently attend meetings within the borough of Tower Hamlets.

• Charity experience – you will have worked in the charitable sector, preferably with a focus on environmental issues and have an understanding of how a mission-based organisation operates and the wider sector considerations that a charity operates within

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Corporate Partnerships Coordinator is the first point of contact for companies at Trees for Cities. They engage with companies interested in employee volunteering and/or funding partnerships to deliver our goal of healthy, accessible and resilient urban forests for today and future generations.

They are responsible for coordinating employee volunteering opportunities including producing compelling volunteering materials, responding to corporate queries and bookings, managing the volunteering calendar to support with project delivery, and ensuring effective systems and processes.

The Coordinator will manage corporate partners for a range of funding options such as charitable donations, cause-related marketing, and project sponsorship up to £10,000 per year. They will support the Fundraising team to manage corporate income by conducting prospect research and ethical evaluations, as well as database support.

We have achieved significant income growth since the start of our last strategy period – and more is needed to address the increasing need for urban trees. We now look forward to our next strategy in 2025 for even more ambitious plans – join us!

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage corporate enquiries, ensuring a smooth and high-quality experience. This includes providing rapid responses and directing to internal point of contacts as appropriate.
• Act as the primary point of contact for companies to coordinate volunteering days, including booking one-off corporate volunteering days or scheduling volunteering days as part of existing partnership agreements. Volunteering opportunities may be in London, across the UK or international.
• Ensure a smooth and high-quality experience for corporate partners giving <£10,000 annually to Trees for Cities. This includes producing compelling organisational and project communications, engaging promotional and stewardship materials, and managing necessary administration such as invoices, agreements, and other donor requirements.
• Work with colleagues in the Fundraising, Development, and Urban Forest teams to plan and facilitate corporate volunteering opportunities across the UK. This may also include liaising with third parties (landowners and delivery partners).
• Conduct prospect research and ethical evaluations on prospective corporate partners.
• Maintain accurate and up to date records including through our CRM databases (Salesforce, Monday, Donorfy), supporting the Fundraising team as needed.

Your Role

This is an exciting new role in UHBW and will lead the Trust's Cost Improvement Programmes (CIP) programme and working with the Head of Finance - Financial Services & Assurance, support the implementation of financial controls and policy across all areas of finance to ensure the Trust's long term financial sustainability.

The Head of Financial Sustainability reports to the Director of Operational Finance and will deputise for the Director of Operational Finance where relevant.

The post holder will drive and oversee the Trust's financial efficiency improvement agenda working with clinical and operational teams, underpinned by a multi-professional network of individuals drawn from across the organisation. They will bring cohesion to the multiple projects that form the Trust's CIPs and manage the complex stakeholder sets and interdependencies, planning, reporting and governance programme.

The post holder will challenge the current ways of working, drawing upon NHS experience and outside world examples to shape the Trust's financial sustainability agenda. Working with a network of senior finance leaders, the post holder will develop finance policies, controls and practices across Finance and the wider Trust that support and empower clinical and delivery groups to deliver sustainable efficiency projects.

The post holder will also work with the organisations within BNSSG ICS and the Acute Provider Collaborative (APC) (between North Bristol NHS Trust and UH Bristol and Weston) to ensure there is increasing collaboration across the wider system and beyond. The Head of Programmes, forming part of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and reporting directly to the CEO, is a critical role holding overall responsibility and management of Youth Realities’ programme delivery and development. 

Youth Realities currently runs four core programmes, underpinning our three outlined priority pillars: prevention, intervention and healing.

• Deepin Relationships - healthy relationships education in communities and schools 
• Young Women's IDVA Support - specialist, long term support for young survivors of abuse and violence in their close relationships 
• Deepin Dance - a weekly dance space for young women aged 16-25 who have survived relationship violence 
• Wellbeing Activities - regular community-based wellbeing workshops, trips and creative days for young people aged 11-25

The charity currently engages over 100 young people each year in intervention and healing activities, with an additional target of 1500 young people per year to be engaged in the Deepin Relationships programme through funding awarded from May 2024 - May 2026. 

The primary role of the Head of Programmes is to oversee the delivery, development and evaluation of all programmes, which will include direct line management of all delivery staff (currently seven).

Youth Realities is currently going through an exciting transitional period, as the current Founder and CEO is leaving the charity in August 2024 and a new CEO will be joining our excellent team. • Programme Oversight & Line Management: Manage the delivery to a very high standard of all our charity capacity-building and training programmes, including being a highly effective line manager for our team of dedicated charity services programme managers. 

• Grant Writing and Income Generation: Develop funding proposals and grant applications to secure new and repeat funding support for Media Trust's charity programmes and activities and lead the development team in meeting income targets through paid for training for clients including charities and funders.

What we are looking for in you 

• Senior Leadership Experience: Proven track record of senior leadership in the charity sector, ideally at an infrastructure or membership organisation, including line management experience and responsibility for managing budgets. 

• Training & Capacity Building Programme Expertise: Demonstrated expertise in designing, delivering and measuring the impact of training and other capacity-building programmes for charities and under-represented communities, ideally by strengthening their media, communications and/or digital skills.

The Head of Business Development role

We are looking for an experienced, confident, and committed Head of Business Development to join our growing charity. This senior role is part of GMYN’s leadership team and would be responsible for coming up with new business opportunities to generate income, as well as produce proposals to various funders and trusts.

The charity is growing and extending our programmes and services across Greater Manchester, and we will be launching our new three year strategy in July. Key responsibilities

Personal Specification

You don't have to have worked in the voluntary youth sector previously. Our aim is to find a suitable candidate that can meet the selection criteria below. This can be from a past/current income generation/business development role, or a role with transferable skills.

More importantly we are looking for someone with genuine passion for working for a youth charity. Someone who can join our fundraising team and make a big impression, helping us to achieve our income generation goals. Purpose

This is an exciting and vital role performing a range of finance and governance tasks, working within the Senior Leadership Team of a leading mental health charity focused on supporting children and young people.

The Head of Finance and Operations (HFO) will be responsible for the successful management of the charity finances and operations, as well as making a leading contribution to the  charity’s strategic direction.  The role is responsible to the CEO, and activity oversight spans finance, HR, IT, and office management. The HFO is also responsible to the Trustees for the financial state of the charity and as Company Secretary. As a result, the HFO must working closely with the treasurer, members of the finance and investment committee, as well as the senior leadership team and our existing finance and operation colleagues.

We are looking for an highly motivated, efficient, diligent and confident finance professional with experience of managing a team. The role is varied and would suit a qualified accountant with experience of working collaboratively and compassionately with a range of colleagues to achieve organisational objectives. Key responsibilities and duties

Strategy, modelling and leadership

• Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive financial strategy supporting the organisation’s wider strategic plan.
• Provide guidance and leadership on short and long-term financial decisions.
• Develop and monitor the implementation of long-range financial plans with the CEO, Board of Trustees and the Finance and Investment committee, to support organisational sustainability and growth.

Financial and Operational Management

• Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the organisation’s mission, vision and priorities.
• Streamline and optimise operational processes and systems to enhance efficiency, quality, and scalability while availing technological advancement. This includes systems, IT, CRM, Facilities and supplier management.
• Provide strategic financial guidance to the CEO, the Senior Leadership Team and the Board of Trustees.
