The mentoring service is a growing service which has ambitious aims to connect more people affected by spinal cord injury every year. The Mentoring Assistant is a key part of this growth, ensuring that the service is delivered to a high standard through undertaking administrative responsibilities such as data management, service user engagement and impact measurement.

What We Are Looking For:  

We are seeking a dedicated, proactive and compassionate group support co-ordinator to lead the further development, delivery, and integration of Self Injury Support’s community-based group support programme, with a focus on accessibility and reaching and engaging with diverse communities across the Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire area. 

About the Position    

Group Support Co-ordinator  

Pay grade: NJC Grade Point 24 - £33,024 per annum pro-rata based on a three-day working week comprising 21 hours per week (£18,797). 

Hours: 21 per week, with some flexibility as to how these hours are delivered; including meetings and groups in the community and office-based work. 

Location: Central Bristol, community venues across the Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire area.

Duties and responsibilities 

Service Development 

Consultation and Outreach 

1. Consult with current and potential group participants and draw on existing service data analysis to inform the content, locations, timings and other details of a groups programme for people affected by self-harm, following on from previous pilot groups run in 2023 and 2024 
2. Analyse consultation and service data and in collaboration with team members decide on groups programme themes 

Community Connections and Groups Development 

1. Connect with and become a member of a range of relevant community networks in the local area to both share service information and learning, and learn about range of wider community support available 
2. Connect with and build a database of potential facilitators and venues
3. Develop a rolling groups calendar with a core ongoing peer support group and time-limited specialist groups 
4. Build on existing processes and further develop processes and procedures to ensure robust record keeping, partnership agreements and safeguarding processes are in place that are GDPR compliant 
5. In collaboration with other Self Injury Support services, explore areas of overlap, potential for shared learning and joint working 
6. In collaboration with other Self Injury Support services, develop processes and procedures to support inclusivity and accessibility, including the administration of an accessibility fund for participants 

Service Delivery 

Groups Promotion and Delivery 

1. Handle groups logistics such as booking specialist facilitators, venues, refreshments and materials in line with budget
2. In collaboration with the Communications Officer develop print and digital promotional materials and develop a dissemination plan 
3. In collaboration with other Self Injury Support services, conduct outreach work to promote the groups programme to other relevant community groups and organisations 
4. Respond to group programme enquiries and bookings, keep accurate, GDPR compliant records of participants, send information to participants in a timely manner 
5. Administer the accessibility fund with support from the Finance Administrator 
6. Support the delivery of groups in collaboration with other Self Injury Support team members 
7. In collaboration with the Self Injury Support safeguarding team, ensure all safeguarding concerns are addressed promptly and recorded in line with organisational policy 
8. Take part in personal reflective practice and professional development training as needed 

Review and Evaluation 

1. Plan appropriate evaluation and monitoring of the groups programme which encompasses the experiences of participants and facilitators and aligns with wider organisational service monitoring 
2. Present evaluation findings in reports for the board of trustees and funders as needed 

Other 

1. Attend organisational team meetings and support organisational events and campaigns.
2. Any other duties relevant to your role as requested by your line manager

Back Up was started by volunteers and our volunteers remain at the heart of everything we do, including shaping and delivering our range of services.

The Volunteer Development Assistant will be the main point of contact for volunteer enquiries and requests and will work across Back Up to understand volunteer needs in order for the volunteer team to grow and support delivery of our life changing services. They will be responsible for the administration and coordination of the annual calendar of volunteer training events ensuring that prospective volunteers feel supported and well prepared, and everything is in place for delivery of high-quality training.

​Main purpose of the post 

We are seeking to appoint a Business Development Coordinator to join a wider team that spearheads RUSI’s research fundraising efforts. Reporting to the Director, Research Business Development, the successful candidate will enhance the institute’s business development activities by providing administrative and coordination support for business development, contracts, and risk management. Working closely with research groups, central services teams, and the senior management team, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that RUSI is well-placed to spot and respond to new funding opportunities and that our contracts are high-quality and executed efficiently. 

This is a highly collaborative role that involves building very strong internal relationships at all levels of the organisation and managing competing priorities and deadlines. We are seeking a team player with a pragmatic and positive attitude and excellent attention to detail, who will enjoy taking on new challenges, using your initiative to solve problems, and seeing your work directly contribute to meeting our short- and long-term goals.

​Key tasks 

Tracking, identifying, and sharing new funding opportunities:  

• Conduct research to identify potential funders and grant opportunities, populate and maintain a prospects tracker. Ensure we have an accurate and current map of relevant funders at all times to draw from.

• Manage the Business Development email inbox, ensuring we are registered to all relevant portals and that we are regularly checking funder portals that do not send notifications. Share summaries of relevant opportunities with the BD Director along with suggested dissemination plan, agree next steps and follow up with appropriate Research Groups.

• Support research colleagues to identify funders to invite to RUSI events and draft outreach emails.

Providing administrative and coordination support on bids, contracts, and new business activities: 

• Assist the Bids Manager with compiling information about RUSI as an organisation, its registrations, policies, organisational structure, banking and insurance details, financial information, and other generic details to be included in bid submissions and for due diligence. 

• Support the Bids Manager/Director of Research Business Development with administration and coordination of specific components on large bids.

Maintaining and improving business development processes and systems: 

• Ensure the business development team trackers (action log, new funding opportunities etc.) are accurate and up to date. 

• Work closely with RUSI’s Legal and Contracts and Finance teams to finalise funder contracts and ensure that final copies are saved centrally, and key information is distributed to relevant teams. Ensure that relevant and accurate funder information is tracked by the finance system for ongoing analysis. 

• Review drafts of subcontractor agreements and work closely with RUSI’s Legal and Contracts team to manage the process for preparing, securing approval, finalising, and sharing sub-contracts. 

• Act as central point of contact for the research funding pipeline, ensure it is functioning as needed and respond to ad hoc questions.

• Manage the team’s Sharepoint page, ensuring that it is useful and relevant for research colleagues, with high-quality templates and guidance.

• In coordination with colleagues on the Communications team, update RUSI’s customer relationship management (CRM) system with accurate, relevant and up-to-date funder information and develop and promote best practice for CRM usage for BD.

• Update RUSI funders on the website annually, ensuring that they are accurate and that we have appropriate permissions to acknowledge them publicly.

• Assist in preparing training materials and internal presentations, including by conducting data analysis. 

• Schedule regular catch ups with research groups, take and share notes in appropriate formats, update trackers. 

• Take accurate and useful minutes and share and follow up on action points after Business Development meetings.

• Establish strong working relationships with research teams, central service teams, and senior management.

• Assist with administrative tasks for the business development team as needed, including setting up tech (Zoom/Teams) meetings, coordinating diaries, and booking meetings.

Managing the institutional Risk Management process:  

• Be responsible for ensuring that risk registers are maintained and updated across the Institute to track risk within the organisation.

• Attend all Audit & Risk Committee meetings to update members on changes to the risk register, and take minutes for each meeting. 

• Work with the COO and Business Development team to ensure that RUSI has in place all policies and procedures across the Institute that are required by funders on various projects. 

• Assist the COO in keeping up to date with all Charity Commission guidance on charity operations and compliance.

​Essential Skills and Experience:  

• Professional experience in charity administration, business development, customer service, events management, account management or similar.

• Previous experience in grants administration or project management. 

• Basic knowledge and awareness of common requirements for bid submissions including such items as statements on duty of care, quality assurance, supply chain management, gender, and diversity, equity, and inclusion. 

• Experience in contract administration and completion. 

• An undergraduate degree or equivalent in business, international relations, or related field.

• Team Player – a genuine enthusiasm to help others, collaborate across multiple teams, and to see your work contribute to the benefit of the organisation. 

• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with different personalities and manage confidential information with sensitivity. 

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to communicate clearly and professionally on video calls, Teams chat, email and in person. Able to produce clear, accurate and insightful written output, meeting the highest quality standards. 

• Excellent organisation and attention to detail – you can maintain, implement, and improve systems, processes, and databases to ensure that our data and outputs are accurate, thorough and up to date. 

• Outstanding time management skills and a willingness to work flexibly – juggling shifting priorities and competing deadlines, managing people’s expectations effectively. 

• Strong IT and Microsoft skills (Excel, Word, Outlook, Adobe and PowerPoint) 

• An interest in, and knowledge of, defence, security and geopolitics.

Well Connected is seeking someone with community engagement experience, to become our new Community Connector within easy reach of Plymouth, Devon.  This is an exciting opportunity to work with us and alongside our partners to support students’ community placements and learning experiences, enabling students to engage directly with communities.

The role will facilitate and develop a range of programmes which aim to increase students' understanding of the health needs of a variety of population groups, such as people who experience homelessness, vulnerable adults, children and families, etc.

The Community Connector will join a small, yet dynamic team, be self-motivated and able to work independently towards achieving their targets.They must be enthusiastic, kind, approachable and enjoy interacting with students, community organisations and local people and be open to learning, developing their own skills and want to support the learning of others.

Position: Programme Coordinator: Empowering fishing communities in the Global South

The Role

Coordinating and building capacity for coastal communities to protect their marine environment.

This is a rare opportunity to join our dynamic, impactful international team, which is working to protect our global ocean and the people and biodiversity dependent upon it. The Coordinator will lead an innovative multi-year programme supported by the EU to train, equip, and empower small-scale fishing communities. The programme will help to protect fish stocks and marine biodiversity from illegal, unsustainable fishing in 15 countries across the Global South.

The programme will include the rollout of a ‘Global Toolkit’ that gives fishing communities innovative, practical equipment, training, and support to help end illegal fishing. Capacity building will include using EJF’s DASE app, which enables fishers to document and report illegal fishing. This app will be accompanied by insightful practical guidance to strengthen local governance and advocacy to protect inshore waters relied upon by coastal communities.

Supported by two regional coordinators and drawing on EJF’s decades of experience in activist training and field programmes in West Africa and Asia, the role will oversee the Toolkit’s introduction to at least 15 countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Pacific.

The programme seeks someone who is a superb, experienced coordinator and manager, able to give remote support and guidance to multiple local teams overseas and track and monitor the programme’s implementation and the Toolkit’s effectiveness against agreed KPIs. The role will involve some travel to kickstart projects, assess and evaluate implementation over time and propose adjustments and further iterations of the Toolkit according to feedback and shared learning. We seek a proactive, creative and determined problem solver who will capitalise on new opportunities and ensure we exceed expectations.

Building strong, trusted and proactive relationships at the grassroots level and facilitating partnerships and information-sharing with national and community-based civil society groups in each country will be essential. The role requires a natural diplomat, able to lead discussions with government officials at the local and national level. The Coordinator will lead the grant, reporting to the EU as the funder and other major stakeholders, including national governments.

As the global lead, the Coordinator will be a superb, confident and inspiring communicator, in writing and person, able to give visibility to the programme's beneficiaries and partners and its impacts. The role will work closely with EJF’s film and comms teams, devising outputs including events at grassroots and national levels that will be effective and influential at reaching their target audiences, sharing success stories and inspiring additional uptake and support.

About the role

As Facilities & Governance Coordinator you will act as a first point of contact in our London office, and work in collaboration with the Governance team across their full range of activities, and consult regularly with the rest of the organisation, Trustees and Members. You will be responsible for coordinating meetings and services across the Institute and providing effective and efficient administrative support across the team.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Providing a professional and welcoming service to all internal and external visitors to the office.

• Provide administration support for the Governance team including but not limited to making and communicating all necessary travel and accommodations arrangements, preparing meeting packs and dissemination as required and supporting all meeting set-up requirements e.g. technology, room set up and refreshments.
• Acting as the main point of contact for CMYA applicants once in the judging process, coordinating their application from entry through to completion of the interview process, ensuring a consistent, high-quality experience is delivered throughout.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to coordinate and lead YWF’s revamped youth engagement initiatives. A project has been established that is currently working with 33 schools and 33 churches in developing discipleship pathways for children and young people in Bolton. One key aspect of this project is the ‘Shades Project’, which focuses on racial justice and faith, supporting schools and churches in developing a culture for all children and young people, regardless of racial background, to thrive and flourish. In response to the exciting growth of the Shades Project, they are looking to appoint a Shades Project Worker to support the growing opportunities for Christian discipleship and to embed the Shades ethos in primary and secondary schools and parishes in Bolton deanery. 

The Shades Project Worker will work with the Shades team in primary and secondary schools, delivering Shades Collective Worship and Shades ‘Faith and Identity’ workshops. They will also lead Shades Ambassadors groups for those children and young people who are passionate about growing in their understanding of racial justice, the Christian faith, and becoming courageous advocates. The Shades Project Worker will also work with Bolton parishes and mission communities to promote the Christian message of God’s love for all of his children, encouraging children, young people, and adults to celebrate their God-given identities and to grow spiritually. 

The Shades Project Worker will have many opportunities for training and development, as well as the creative freedom to develop initiatives for children and young people. They will work within a highly motivated and supportive team, who are committed to prayer and to welcoming children and young people into the life of the church. 

The post holder should have experience of volunteering with children or young people in a church and/or school context.
