About the role 

The Independent Sexual Violence Advocate (Multiple Disadvantage) provides specialist advocacy and support to women who have experienced sexual violence alongside multiple and intersecting forms of disadvantage.

Working within WGN's Intersectional Anti-Oppressive Team, you will empower survivors to understand their rights, make informed choices and access the support they need. You will provide trauma-informed advocacy throughout the criminal justice process, while working closely with partner agencies to improve safety, wellbeing and outcomes for survivors.

Grounded in feminist, anti-oppressive and survivor-centred practice, this role places survivors' voices, choices and experiences at the heart of support.

Job description 

As the Independent Sexual Violence Advocate (Multiple Disadvantage), you will:

• Provide trauma-informed emotional support, practical assistance and advocacy to survivors of sexual violence experiencing multiple and intersecting disadvantages.
• Undertake risk and needs assessments, develop support plans and promote the safety and wellbeing of survivors and their children.
• Support survivors to access specialist services including housing, mental health, healthcare, legal advice and therapeutic support.
• Advocate for survivors throughout the criminal justice process, ensuring they understand their rights, options and available remedies.
• Build effective partnerships with statutory and voluntary sector organisations to strengthen coordinated support and improve outcomes.
• Maintain accurate case records, monitoring data and safeguarding practices in line with organisational and legislative requirements.
• Deliver awareness-raising, service promotion and partnership engagement activities to improve understanding of survivors' needs.
• Contribute to service development, best practice and continuous improvement across the ISVA Service.
• Champion WGN's feminist values and Holistic Empowerment Recovery Model, helping survivors move towards safety, recovery and empowerment.

• Developing good practice in the sector by providing training and guidance on specialist service provision and the development of culturally appropriate service delivery.
