Our Helpline and expert advisers offer free, practical support to older people without enough money to live on. Through our grants programme, we support hundreds of local organisations working with older people across the UK.
We use the knowledge and insight gained from our support services and partnerships to highlight the issues experienced by older people in poverty and campaign for change.

Responsibilities and Person Specification:
This is a critical and influential role at Independent Age, reporting to the Head of Governance. The post holder will provide high-quality support across a broad and impactful portfolio, including risk management, procurement and contracts, governance, safeguarding and business continuity, helping to build a culture where accountability, learning and continuous improvement drive meaningful change.
Working closely with senior leaders and the Board, you will play an important role in enabling effective and confident decision-making across every level of the charity. This is an opportunity to contribute across a wide range of areas and to see the direct impact of your work on how the organisation functions and delivers its mission.
We are looking for someone with a genuine passion for risk management, alongside a strong understanding of not-for-profit governance best practice. You will also bring experience in at least one of the following areas: procurement, contracts management, third party contract risk, business continuity planning, policy management or safeguarding.
You will be an excellent communicator, confident working with senior stakeholders, with strong attention to detail and a proactive, can-do approach. Above all, you will take pride in getting things done efficiently and to a high standard and be motivated by the opportunity to work for a values-led organisation making a meaningful difference to older people.
This is a full-time role, 35 hours per week, which you can choose to work over five days or a 9-day fortnight.

Cardiomyopathy UK is the specialist national charity for people affected by cardiomyopathy, a group of conditions that affect the heart muscle. It can have a devastating impact on the lives of people of all ages and is usually inherited. Our vision is that everyone affected by cardiomyopathy should live a long and fulfilling life.
We are midway through our five-year strategic plan, at a genuinely exciting moment, both for the charity and for cardiomyopathy more broadly. The treatment landscape has been transformed in recent years: approved dedicated therapies are now available, more are in the pipeline, and the first genetic treatments are on the horizon. This is bringing new energy and investment from clinicians, pharmaceutical companies and the research community, creating real opportunities for a charity with the credibility, evidence base and relationships to make the most of them. Our evidence base is stronger than ever: we have completed the James Lind Alliance Priority Setting Partnership, surveyed over 1,300 people affected by cardiomyopathy, and published our State of the Nation report. Against a rapidly shifting NHS and policy landscape, we are now reviewing our priorities and sharpening our focus on where we can have the greatest impact.
For the right person, this is an opportunity with real strategic scope. We want to build on our strong policy positions and evidence base and translate them into proactive campaigning and influencing, moving from good policy thinking to concerted public affairs activity, strategic stakeholder engagement, and campaigns that achieve real change. We have a draft theory of change to refine and policy recommendations to turn into action. Our Change Makers volunteer advocacy network is central to this, but needs dedicated leadership to fulfil its potential; rebuilding it is one of the most important early priorities for the post-holder.
Our research programme reflects this momentum. The James Lind Alliance process established the top ten research priorities for cardiomyopathy, giving us a clear, credible basis for directing research attention and resource. We have launched our Catalyst Grants scheme, the charity's first foray into directly funding research, with a second round under way, and want to build on it. That means resourcing the scheme sustainably, deepening engagement with the research community through a growing researcher network, and establishing an annual researchers' event to bring the community together and identify collaboration opportunities. The Director will lead this next phase, working with the Research Manager and our clinical and academic partners to define and deliver our ambitions.
Raising awareness of cardiomyopathy, its signs, symptoms and genetic risk, is equally central to our mission. Too many people are still diagnosed late because neither they nor their GP knew what to look for. We want our communications work to drive this agenda purposefully, drawing on our own evidence about diagnostic delay and unmet need.
We are also looking for someone who can work alongside our fundraising team to sustain and grow this work. Securing dedicated funding for our research grants programme and advocacy work is a real priority, and the changing landscape, with greater pharmaceutical interest in cardiomyopathy than ever, creates new opportunities alongside more traditional trust and grant funding. Experience of developing compelling cases for support, and/or navigating partnerships with commercial organisations in a way that protects the charity's independence, would be a significant asset.
The Director of Research and External Affairs leads the charity's research, policy and advocacy, and communications and marketing functions, with a team of four staff. The post-holder sets the strategic direction of the directorate, drives high-quality delivery, upholds the charity's values, and represents the charity externally across research, policy, clinical and funder networks. The Director is a member of the charity's Leadership Team, working closely with the CEO to steer the charity forward.

Reporting into the Challenge Events Manager, you’ll boost our ability to grow our portfolio of events and connect personally with the incredible people who support CALM on a day to day basis.
The reasons people fundraise for CALM can be deeply personal. They might have lost someone to suicide, used our helpline for themselves or someone they know, or they might want to support a lifesaving service. By understanding what drives them, you’ll shape and deliver event experiences that feel meaningful and memorable, strengthen their connection to CALM, and inspire them to keep coming back for more.
Responsibilities
Support on delivery of the Challenge Events portfolio, ensuring Challenge Event Fundraisers are staying on track - such as completing registration forms on time, and setting up fundraising pages
Provide end-to-end operational support for fundraising events, including liaising with venues, partners and suppliers, obtaining quotes, coordinating travel and logistics, working with production teams, preparing materials, producing risk assessments, and creation of event documentation such as briefs, schedules and post-event evaluations
Represent CALM at Events, including acting as an Event Day Lead, and attending wider CALM events
Work with the Challenge Events Manager and Event Fundraising Lead to develop our portfolio of events, contributing ideas, analysing performance, identifying opportunities and putting ideas into action

The Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC) works to support the Palestinian people in their struggle for freedom, justice and equality and against apartheid, military occupation and colonisation. A democratic, member-led organisation, we are the largest organisation in Britain dedicated to securing Palestinian rights. We aim to create mainstream pressure to change the policies of the UK government and to indirectly place pressure on the Israeli government to end its oppression of the Palestinian people. The Director of PSC holds ultimate executive responsibility for the achievement of our objectives in line with our stated values and policies agreed through our democratic structures.
The Director leads the organisation through a senior team of three Deputy Directors and is responsible for the overall impact, performance and culture of PSC. They will be confident in representing PSC to a variety of stakeholders, including but not limited to members and supporters, politicians, national media, and large crowds. They will defend and advance PSC’s values, aims and campaigns with conviction, judgement, humanity and authority.
Over the past two years PSC has grown rapidly in size, profile and resources. A central task of the next Director is to maintain that growth and convert it into a deeper and more durable impact for advancing the cause of Palestinian liberation. This will involve steadying the organisation and deepening its foundations for controlled but ambitious growth in a context where the rights and lives of Palestinians are increasingly threatened and violated, and operating in a UK political environment that remains largely hostile to the Palestinian cause.
A strong commitment to PSC’s aims, a clear understanding of the key issues related to the situation in Palestine, and a demonstrable commitment to anti racism and equality are essential.

About the role
This role supports the delivery of The Passage’s organisational strategy objective, to build brand awareness, attract new supporters and retain them over time through our digital channels.
The Digital Acquisition and Supporter Journey Officer will focus on the hands‑on delivery and optimisation of paid digital campaigns, email marketing and digital journeys that introduce new audiences to The Passage, encourage initial engagement, and ongoing relationships with supporters. Working collaboratively with Fundraising and Communications colleagues, the postholder will help to build, test and embed effective approaches to achieve these goals.

Your main mission out of the gate? Joining our project team to deliver the fifth year of CALM’s epic partnership with Jingle Jam - one of the world’s biggest and best gaming-led charity events. We need someone to deliver outstanding stewardship, enable unforgettable supporter journeys, and cook up the kind of ‘Wow!’ moments that rally online communities to life-saving action.

You'll be right in the thick of our Jingle Jam 2026 delivery, while also spending some of your time supporting other creators and gaming-led fundraising. You'll look after our amazing community of supporters, help build pipelines for gaming companies we can partner with, and collaborate across CALM to make sure everything we do runs smoothly, safely, and accurately.

Your profile
This isn’t a rigid checklist, but here is what we’d love you to bring to the table:
Fundraising Experience: You have proven experience of working in fundraising for charity, including how to chat to supporters, and how to craft and deliver outstanding supporter journeys
Gaming & Creator Understanding: You have a proven interest in and/or knowledge of content creators and/or the gaming world. Bonus points if you’ve used platforms like Discord, Tiltify, and Twitch
Relationship-building: You can chat authentically to digital-first stakeholders, community members, and internal teams alike
Organised & On It: You’ll need to be able to jump in, juggle deadlines, and keep your project work tracking smoothly
Passionate: A genuine empathy for CALM’s mission to prevent suicide
