Over the last three years, demand for our educational workshops has risen by 300% and in 2025 alone we worked with over 3,500 people across the globe – with artists, trade unions, students, educators, journalists, community organisers, and human rights networks, people whose voices shape public understanding of Palestine. Through our trainings, educational resources, and long term partnerships, we help people deepen their understanding of how settler colonialism, apartheid and displacement shapes the lives of Palestinians, and how these forces connect to broader global struggles for freedom and justice.
We are looking for an experienced Director/Co-directors to drive the organisation forward at this critical moment for our work. You’ll provide leadership and direction in delivering Makan’s strategic vision and objectives, furthering the charity’s programmes and communications; and overseeing its organisational growth and development, in line with its values and ethos.
You will be responsible for the overall impact, performance and collaborative culture of Makan; confident in representing the charity to a variety of stakeholders, including partners, media, major donors and other supporters; and able to provide effective support to the Board to ensure the organisation has the infrastructure, governance and resources in place to secure long term sustainable funding, develop the resilience of the charity, and deliver high-quality, impactful educational programmes.

The CHWS opened in 2022 with the aim of providing advice, information, and specialist support to Croydon residents with mental health concerns, who drop-in, or have been referred to the via the local Integrated Care Network Plus multi-disciplinary clinical and community mental health support teams.
The Advice Workers will be part of a friendly team, including crisis workers and clinical mental health professionals and function as the first point of access for visitors to the CHWS. Following an initial conversation to ascertain the clients’ needs, the Advice Workers will provide information and advice, as well as signposting and referrals to specialist services, such as the Mental Health Personal Independence Co-ordinators, Social Prescribers and Community Link Workers, in addition to the wider voluntary and statutory services in the borough. Do you want to use your skills to make it possible for people with myeloma to live longer and better lives? We are looking for a Support Group Co-ordinator who will deliver the Myeloma UK Support Group Partnership programme in line with the organisation’s overall strategy.
You will have experience of working with support groups and/or volunteer networks as well as recruiting, training, managing and supervising a diverse range of staff or volunteers. The post holder will need to show clear evidence of relationship building and working with underrepresented groups. A key part of the role is understanding the needs of cancer patients and their families and of health inequalities.
You’ll have excellent relationship building skills and an understanding of the barriers that exist in accessing support. You will need the ability to set priorities, work under pressure with great attention to detail and understand and meet the training and development needs of volunteers. The Support Group Co-ordinator will be the first point of contact within the organisation for all Support Group enquiries. You will coordinate the Support Groups Partnership Programme activity, including developing and promotion of the existing Myeloma Support Groups and coordinate the recruitment, induction and ongoing support of new local groups to the Support Groups Partnership Programme
You will be responsible for working with local groups and other local network partners to increase the reach and impact of Myeloma UK, ensuring that partnered support groups operate in line with Myeloma UK guidelines and ensure that they receive consistent information, training and advice.
The post holder will maintain an awareness and understanding of all legislation that may be relevant to the role and develop, maintain and evaluate a training programme for Support Group Leaders as well as moderate and update the Support Group Leaders’ online hub on a regular basis. You will lead the Support Groups’ responsibility for designing and delivering activities in line with our Partnership Agreement so that they are safe, effective and impactful as well as moderate.

About NEYDL
North East Young Dads and Lads (NEYDL) was founded in 2017 and has grown rapidly to become one of the UK’s most recognised organisations supporting young dads, men aged 25 and under in a fathering role. Our vision is for young dads to be valued and supported as parents. In 2024/25 we supported 217 young dads directly and achieved 100% satisfaction among the young dads we work with.
We are a non-judgmental organisation built on mutual trust, respect and honesty. Many of our staff are young dads themselves or have lived experience relevant to the communities we serve.
About this role
We use the term ‘young dads’ to refer to young dads, expectant dads and non-birthing partners aged 25 and under. This includes people within this age bracket who self-identify as father figures, including kinship carers and non-birthing partners.
We use the term ‘neurodiverse’ as an inclusive term covering young dads who are autistic, have ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia or other forms of neurodivergence, whether formally diagnosed, self-identified or awaiting assessment. We recognise that neurodivergent young dads can face additional barriers in accessing parenting support, including in how services are structured, communicated and delivered, and that these barriers are often compounded by stigma, exclusion or a lack of appropriate adjustment.
This is a dedicated role to ensure neurodivergent young dads can access the high quality support NEYDL offers, and that our wider service offer is genuinely accessible to them. You will provide direct, adapted support to neurodivergent young dads, while also building NEYDL’s organisational understanding of how to work effectively and inclusively with this group.
What we are looking for
We are looking for a motivated and experienced worker with a genuine understanding of neurodivergence and its impact on young fathers, and the ability to adapt support, communication and activities accordingly. You will be a confident networker, able to build relationships with both young dads and the services and organisations that support neurodivergent people across the North East.

Person Specification
Essential
· A proven track record in Regional or Community fundraising roles leading on the development of new, successful programmes
· Demonstratable strong strategic planning skills and the ability to develop and implement long-term strategies to achieve fundraising targets and enhance the charity's mission
· Proven leadership and people management skills, with experience in overseeing multi-disciplinary teams. Essential experience includes team leadership, staff motivation, setting clear objectives, and fostering a collaborative work environment
· Experience in effectively developing, managing and reporting complex income and expenditure budgets
· Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels and excellent written skills
· Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder management skills

Purpose of Role
This position entails offering advice and support on an individual basis through email, phone, or in-person meetings. You will maintain thorough records of all student interactions by effectively utilizing the case management system. Additionally, you will collaborate with other departments within SUBU to design, implement, and execute campaigns and events aimed at raising awareness of the
current issues impacting BU students.
To provide accurate and comprehensive advice, guidance, and representation to Bournemouth University Students on a range of issues including academic, housing and financial matters in accordance with BU and SUBU policies and relevant legislation. And supporting students through personal circumstances such as suicide, sexual misconduct, abuse, harassment, violence, racism and discrimination. To maintain an excellent level of understanding of BU’s policies and procedures to ensure high quality advice and support is given to students. This role also supports students to prepare for and attend formal meetings relating to the continuance of students’ academic studies, for example Academic Offence Panels and Fitness to Practice Panels. We aim to empower students by advising them and giving them the information to make informed decisions.
