Head of Storytelling and Impact

Vauxhall, Greater London (Hybrid)
£50,000 per year
Full-time
Permanent
Job description

No two weeks in this role look the same. One day you might be drafting a letter to persuade a government minister to champion prevention; the next, building the funder case for a piece of research that hasn’t been written yet, or turning a dense set of findings into a chart a journalist can’t ignore.

ILC’s Head of Storytelling and Impact will make sure our evidence reaches, and moves, the people who can act on it – policymakers, politicians, business leaders, journalists and the public. This role turns ILC’s research into stories and turns those stories into funding and impact.

Every role at ILC, this one especially, involves relationships with funders and commercial partners. We’re a charity that operates like a commercial organisation – this role has to make the case for our value, not just communicate our findings.

You’ll also, sometimes, be putting our evidence in front of people who would rather not hear it – industries with a vested interest, politicians with other priorities, or audiences who assume ageing isn’t their problem. Part of the job is being comfortable with that, and persuasive anyway.

We want someone who thinks like a publisher and a marketer as much as a press officer – curious about formats, protective of ILC’s funding, and unafraid to pick up the phone to a politician.
