This is a varied, hands-on role within a friendly and committed team. You will lead our day-to-day financial management while overseeing governance administration, HR processes, contracts and organisational systems.

What you’ll do

• Produce management accounts, budgets, forecasts and financial reports.

• Strong charity finance or business-management experience.

• A good understanding of budgets, financial controls and reconciliations.
• Experience of governance, HR administration, contracts or office systems.
• Experience of supervising or managing staff.
• Excellent organisation, accuracy and attention to detail.
• The confidence to take ownership, work independently and communicate clearly.

Main Responsibilities 

We are looking for highly motivated and organised individual to coordinate our accreditation scheme. The role will work with our network of employers, and support new organisations through the accreditation process. 

The Programme Officer will lead our work across the South West and support our managers to grow and deepen engagement with Living Wage Employers through our associated schemes. You will help to ensure our resources and publicity materials are well written and up-to-date, and to coordinate events to grow our employer network. 

Working as the Programme Officer for Citizens UK, reporting to a Programme Manager, your main responsibilities will include: 

Contribute towards the achievement of CUK and LWF’s strategic objectives

Understand how the role contributes to LWF’s purpose and the core mission of CUK

Reliably implement CUK’s and LWF’s policies, procedures, and values in own work

Work with CUK community organisers and leaders to promote civic engagement with and ownership of the Living Wage campaign 

Feed into the LWF strategy and objectives development 

Living Wage Accreditation 

• Support key contacts at potential LW Employers through the accreditation process, from dealing with initial enquiries to guiding them through the employer journey, to checking and processing their accreditation 

• Develop rewarding relationships with key employers, industry, and campaign partners within our networks to build interest in the Living Wage and deliver a high-quality experience to our accredited employers 

• With support from the wider team, develop plans and strategies to grow the number of accreditations in specific regions or industries 

• Collate and disseminate Living Wage criteria and policy issues through both internal and external facing guidance, whilst reviewing and monitoring its suitability 

• Support the development and implementation of projects to promote and grow Living Wage accreditations and develop the quality of service offered 

Build and manage projects and achieve work targets effectively

Successfully progress projects and tasks incl. tracking performance and expenditure 

Deliver agreed areas of the LWF’s work plan and leading on agenda items to report into team meetings.

Support the growth and development of new and existing Living Wage schemes incl.  Recognised Service Providers, LW Funders, LW Places, Living Hours, Global Living Wage and Living Work Consultancy 

Deliver personal work targets on time and to standard: 

• Respond to telephone and web-based enquiries by providing advice and support to employers and supporters 

• Provide administrative support for all aspects of the accreditation journey, incl. processing accreditations, recognitions, and renewals 

• Maintain LWF data on systems, incl. Salesforce employer database

• Support the maintenance of our systems to ensure efficient processes and develop reporting mechanisms for effective monitoring and evaluation of our impact and progress against plans 

• Coordinate and administrate Steering, Advisory or Leadership Groups as required, incl. coordinating agendas, sending out timely papers, taking minutes and following up on actions

This is a highly visible leadership role requiring someone who can think strategically whilst remaining actively involved in relationship management, opportunity development and fundraising delivery. The successful candidate will be comfortable moving between development board-level discussions, team leadership and hands-on fundraising activity.

About the role

We are looking for an outstanding Senior Press Officer to work in our fast-paced press office, helping run it to the highest standard. RCS England is one of the most high-profile health commentators in the UK. You will regularly see us advocating for patients and the surgical workforce in the national press. Candidates should have experience of successfully pitching stories to national media and know what makes a good health story. You will have a fluent writing style and be confident working with senior stakeholders to brief them before interviews.

Responsibilities

• Handle incoming enquiries and provide accurate, timely and appropriate responses, briefing journalists in line with RCS England key messages and priorities.
• Participate in an out-of-hours rota for media enquiries. Time off in lieu is offered for significant out-of-office hours worked.
• Research, write and distribute press releases, features, letters and other editorial material.
• Draft articles, quotes and opinion pieces on behalf of RCS England spokespeople.
• Provide press office support to the Faculty of Dental Surgery and its Dean, as required.
• Brief the President, Council Members and senior managers on issues arising in the media.
• Act as the press lead for key projects such as RCS England guidance or campaigns. Devising and implementing communications plans, sharing project updates with the wider communications team, and maintaining a good understanding of surgical and wider health issues.
• Horizon scan for media opportunities and develop your own ideas for health coverage based on data, insights or RCS England priorities.
• Brief, support and prepare RCS England spokespeople for media interviews.
• Establish and maintain professional and trusted relationships with national and trade journalists.
• Represent the RCS England at internal and external meetings, and maintain professional relationships with press and communications leads at stakeholder organisations.
• Monitor daily media coverage relevant to surgery and the RCS England. This includes pulling together the team’s daily press cuts to be shared with Council members, Trustees, and key RCS England staff by 10am (subject to urgent media enquiries).
• Maintain and update the media sections of the RCS England website, working with the web team to develop rich digital content. Actively participate in developing our social media profile using Twitter, Facebook, and commissioning and editing relevant blogs.
• Produce evaluation reports of media coverage and communications activity.
• Undertake such duties appropriate to the grade, as required by your line manager.

About you

• Degree educated or proven extensive experience that can demonstrate the essential criteria below.
• At least two years’ experience of working in a press office.
• Experience of writing and editing for a variety of media including print and the internet.

Salary: NJC Scale SCP 29-32 (£39,862 - £42,839 pro rata). Starting salary SCP 29, increasing to SCP 30 after a successful probationary period.

Hours: 37 hours per week (negotiable part-time hours available).

Main duties of the job

This is not simply a fundraising leadership role. It is an opportunity to build the next stage of a hospital charity: setting direction, strengthening governance, improving fund deployment, developing the team & creating a more planned, visible & sustainable approach to charitable impact. Reporting to the Executive Director of Corporate Affairs, Risk & Governance & working closely with the Chief Executive, Charity Committee & Corporate Trustee, the Charity Director will:

• Develop and deliver a clear 3 to 5-year strategy, aligned to Trust priorities and focused on patients, staff wellbeing, sustainability, innovation and future needs.
• Grow a more sustainable and diverse income base, with a focus on regular giving, appeals, corporate partnerships, community fundraising, legacies and selective major donor opportunities.
• Develop a planned programme of high-impact charitable investment.
• Strengthen governance, decision-making, financial stewardship, risk management and regulatory compliance on behalf of the Corporate Trustee and Charity Committee.
• Improve the use and deployment of charitable funds, including supporting work to simplify fund arrangements and reduce administrative burden.
• Build, lead and develop our capable and ambitious Charity team, equipping them with the systems, processes and confidence to deliver.
• Act as the Charity’s senior ambassador, building trusted relationships with donors, supporters, local businesses, community partners, staff and senior Trust leaders.

Salford CVS is looking for a Development Worker (Violence Reduction) to support a community-led programme in Little Hulton, working alongside young people, residents and local organisations to identify priorities, shape solutions and drive positive change. 

You'll build relationships, facilitate community engagement and co-design activities, amplify youth and community voices, and help local partners deliver initiatives that address the root causes of violence. Main purposes of the post

To support the delivery of the community-led violence reduction programme in Salford, working with young people, communities and VCSE partners in Little Hulton. 

The Greater Manchester Combined Authority and Greater Manchester Violence Reduction Unit worked with 10GM, other VCSE providers and local communities to co-design our approach to a community-led violence reduction programme. The programme is one of the Violence Reduction Unit’s flagship projects across Greater Manchester and is in line with the ambitions of the Greater Manchester Violence Reduction Strategy and Public Service Reform programme to involve communities to identify priorities, problem solve and direct investment and interventions accordingly. In Salford, the programme will be delivered within Little Hulton.

Hours: Part-time, 18.75 hours per week.

Days: To be confirmed (core hours are worked between 8am – 6pm, Monday to Friday).

Contract: 1-year fixed-term contract, subject to the successful completion of a 3-month probationary period.

Place of work: Salford CVS’ offices in Eccles and within Little Hulton.
