Role Purpose

The Adult Bereavement Counsellor provides therapeutic support to adults- particularly parents and carers- who are experiencing acute or complex grief following the death of a child.

The post holder will provide comprehensive psychosocial assessments and deliver therapeutic interventions working therapeutically using a range of counselling methods, approaches, and techniques, consistent with Level 3 of the NICE psychological intervention framework (2004).

They will also deliver crisis interventions where appropriate to ensure emotional safety and stability. In addition, the role includes designing and implementing a variety of therapeutic interventions across individual, couple, and group contexts, drawing on different models as required.

Main Responsibilities

Communication and Relationships

• Communicate effectively and sensitively within the organisation and with external professionals, including health and mental health services such as CMHTs and GPs.
• Convey complex and emotionally sensitive information to adults with clarity, empathy, and professionalism.
• Manage interactions with individuals or groups who may be distressed or emotionally impacted by information shared.
• Develop and maintain strong, positive working relationships with colleagues and peers to promote effective teamwork and collaboration.

Knowledge, Training and Experience

• Undertake detailed psychosocial assessments and risk evaluations for parents and carers bereaved of a child, determining the most appropriate interventions and levels of support.
• Deliver individual and, where appropriate, couple or group counselling sessions using evidence-based approaches to address complex grief, trauma, and adjustment to loss.
• Ensure all practice meets professional standards and complies with relevant codes of conduct and national guidance.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current research, evidence-based practice, and developments in bereavement and trauma-informed care.
• Provide crisis interventions when required, ensuring emotional containment, safety and referral to appropriate support.
• Support service users to develop coping skills, resilience, meaning making, and strategies to manage distress and ongoing adjustment.
• Integrate trauma-informed principles, recognising the emotional and physiological impact of bereavement and its intersection with other mental health concerns.
• Engage in continuous professional development and maintain an active professional portfolio in line with professional body requirements.

• Provide guidance, supervision, and support to volunteers individually or in groups as required.

Education/Professional Qualification

Essential

• MA/MSc or Postgraduate Degree (minimum Level 4 or equivalent) in Counselling, Psychotherapy, Arts Therapy
• Registration with a professional body (ie. HCPC, UKCP, BACP, BAAT, etc)
• Evidence of continuing professional development

Desirable

• Certificate/diploma in supervision
• Dual qualification (social work and counselling/psychotherapy)
• BACP accreditation or eligible for BACP accreditation

Essential

• Able to make clear psychosocial assessments and managing complex emotional and mental health needs, risk, and safeguarding

First Stage Screening Interviews

Second Stage Interviews

Youth Team Forum Discussion

For roles in our Bereavement Services Team, we will invite those applicants selected for interview along to a discussion forum with members of our Youth Team. This session is held remotely and lasts approximately 20 minutes. The discussion topic will be shared with you in advance of the session.

This peer support project is delivered in partnership with South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust to support Carers of people with mental health conditions.  This project will work to support Carers through one-to-one support, outreach, training and peer support groups.

About The Role: 

Using your lived experience of caring for someone with a mental health condition, and a strengths-based approach, you will support mental health Carers in their caring role.  You will provide person centred one-to-one- support, information, signposting, and advocacy, develop, and facilitate peer support groups and deliver training and outreach sessions at different locations across the borough. 

Key Requirements of the role Include: 

• Lived experience of Caring for someone with a mental health condition 

• Knowledge and understanding of mental health and the associated challenges and support needs. 

• The ability to work within the principles and values of peer support. 

• Confidence supporting people on a one-to-one basis.

Wandsworth Carers’ Centre is an inclusive employer, committed to the continued development of a diverse workforce. 

Established in 1999 SeeSaw Grief Support is an award-winning charity supporting children and young people in Oxfordshire who are bereaved or about to be bereaved. The work supporting children, young people and their families is delivered by a team of clinical staff and volunteers, who work with families in their own homes. Because of this regular travel is involved, often at the end of the school day. We regularly provide support for between 400-500 children and young people each year. 

Our clinical team of 5 practitioners, and 12 volunteers, is supported by our Clinical Data and Volunteer Manager. Due to increasing demand for our service, we are expanding our team and looking for a 6th practitioner to join us, focusing on direct work with bereaved children and young people, and those facing the death of a close family member. We are looking for candidates who have gained experience of working with children and young people in a range of settings. You are a good communicator and skilled at making and sustaining supportive relationships with children and young people to effect change.Our practitioners have a caseload of individual children and their families, and liaise with professionals from schools, health, social care and children and young people’s mental health services, as well as with our team of Volunteer Support Workers. You will be able to work collaboratively and on your own initiative, ideally have a qualification in health care, social work, counselling, psychological services or education; knowledge of therapeutic interventions in grief work would be helpful but not essential as training will be given.

About the role

The UK’s international trade policy is at a crossroads: beginning to move on from the relentless focus on Free Trade Agreements which primarily exist to serve corporate interests, but yet to embrace a vision for trade which prioritises equality, environmental sustainability and human rights. 

The Advocacy Manager’s role is to build political support for the Trade Justice Movement’s policy priorities. They will represent TJM in high-level settings including parliamentary meetings, party conferences and on government stakeholder groups. They will build strong relationships with parliamentarians, advisors, committee staff and civil servants. They will also play a key role in researching and agreeing policy positions in collaboration with civil society allies. 

TJM is a small team and the Advocacy Manager will have a flexible and collaborative approach, responding to political events, seizing opportunities to influence and pitching in with broader organisational priorities. 

The Advocacy Manager will be responsible for setting TJM’s political influencing strategy, with support from the Director, and will be able to plan and deliver their work independently.

TJM is a UK-based coalition of 45 charities, trade unions and faith groups working for a fairer, greener world by supporting international trade policies which prioritise people and planet.

About the role

The Programme Coordinator plays a central role in ensuring the smooth running of the Trust's programme partnerships, training delivery, and organisational systems. THE ROLE

We are looking for a motivated Administrative Officer to provide the quality support and attention to detail that keeps our programmes running smoothly. You will be joining a passionate team dedicated to helping children all over the world develop their critical thinking and learn about global current affairs. We are a small but growing team of 17, and in this role, you will work across every part of the charity, seeing our impact in action and ensuring our daily operations are handled with total consistency.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Team operations and administration

• Provide essential admin support including booking travel, purchasing equipment, managing the post, and supporting printing

• Act as the administrator for most team subscriptions, online tools and softwares

• Maintain a well-organised office environment, including inventory management for the team cupboard and equipment

• Proactively identify and fix broken systems, creating better ways to manage tasks

• Build strong relationships with the key teams from The Economist Group such as Facilities, HR, and IT to ensure smooth operational support to the Foundation’s work

Financial administration

• Accurately process and record weekly payment runs and invoices in the banking and finance systems

• Assist with financial reconciliation and proactively chase outstanding payments or missing receipts

• Process staff and volunteer expense claims, ensuring they align with the charity’s financial policies

Programme and event support

• Act as the first point of contact for the Foundation’s inboxes, providing excellent service to teachers by troubleshooting account issues and managing enquiries

• Support the programme and fundraising teams by collating qualitative and quantitative data on students and teachers for programme and funder reporting

• Manage the process of sending physical materials and resources to schools and teachers when relevant, including packing, addressing, and coordinating couriers or post

• Lead the logistics for webinars and live lessons on online event tools, including managing platform settings and hosting calls

• Coordinate logistics for team socials and events with partners, funders, and trustees, including room/venue booking, catering, and on-site setup

HR and onboarding

• Manage candidate logistics, including posting roles, redacting applications, handling diversity monitoring forms, and scheduling interviews

• Provide high-quality service to applicants, acting as a warm and professional point of contact for all interview coordination

• Lead the practical setup for new joiners, including IT access, office tours, equipment handovers, and managing DBS checks

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Manager to oversee the delivery of a major research and development programme focused on accessibility, inclusion and community engagement within the heritage and outdoor sectors.

This role will lead the coordination and delivery of a multi-partner project exploring how information, communications and engagement approaches can be made more inclusive for disabled people and people from minoritised ethnic communities.

Working with a wide range of stakeholders including community organisations, evaluators, researchers and site-based teams, you will play a central role in ensuring the successful delivery of pilot projects, research activity and future recommendations.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading end-to-end project management across the full programme lifecycle
• Developing and maintaining project plans, risk registers and reporting processes
• Coordinating external contractors, evaluators and delivery partners

About the role

This is a rare and exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced individual to play a central role in driving effective, efficient, and impactful global operations at one of the world’s leading environmental and human rights organisations.

As Deputy Chief Operating Officer, you will report directly to the COO and support the smooth, efficient, and ethical running of EJF’s international operations across 16 countries on four continents. Key responsibilities

1. Finance and Organisational Integrity:

• Work with the finance team to provide time-bound, clear tracking of financial income and expenditure against agreed budgets; insightful financial projections to inform strategic decisions; and recommendations on ethical banking and investment opportunities and changing needs.

• Ensure operational systems work effectively when they interface with finance, including ensuring value for money when undertaking procurements.

• Work closely with the finance team to ensure strong financial controls and systems are in place across the global offices, robust against fraud and error.

2. Human Resources:

• Supporting and enhancing EJF’s HR systems to ensure they are fit for purpose, fair and appropriate across all jurisdictions.

4. Fundraising Support and Donor Reporting:

• Support fundraising, including coordinating complex applications and ensuring proposal budgets and other operational information are accurate and consistent.

• Supporting decision-making relating to future fundraising priorities and new income streams.

• Ensuring operational developments are accurately reflected in donor reporting.

5. Safeguarding, Risk and Security:

• Overseeing the implementation of EJF’s safeguarding, cybersecurity and whistleblowing policies and monitoring, ensuring consistency across countries.

• Working with relevant teams, regularly review safety and security protocols in EJF’s global teams, including digital systems and data security.

6. Leadership and Coordination:

• Leading the roll-out and periodic review of improved operational processes and systems across the organisation, ensuring buy-in across teams.

Essential skills and experience

• As an Employee Relations Specialist, you’ll be the escalation point from our People Operations team and will apply your specialist employee relations knowledge and expertise to provide professional and pragmatic employee relations advice on a range of employee relations (ER) issues, policies and processes.
  
  You’ll pro-actively engage with managers to offer best practice advice on a range of ER case work, spotting and assessing the risks and advising managers on how to mitigate or find resolutions to those risks which are in the best interest for British Heart Foundation (BHF). 
  
  You’ll take ownership of your own case work from beginning to end and responsibility for the advisory solutions ensuring best practice timescales are adhered to. You will also ensure any risks or concerns are flagged. 

  
  About you
  
  With a CIPD Level 5 minimum qualification, or equivalent, you'll have extensive HR knowledge and understanding around best practice. You'll also have an up-to-date ER and Employment law knowledge, and understand ACAS Code of Practise and be knowledgeable on the Equality Act.
   

  You’ll have substantial experience managing complex casework, including dismissals and discrimination. You are able to weigh up complex evidence and reach sound conclusions that are fair and reasonable while protecting the business. You have the proven experience of navigating legal complexities and negotiating successful resolutions swiftly. 
  
  Ideally, you will have ER specialist experience confidently managing a high volume of cases in a large organisation. Additionally, experience of tribunal case preparation, restructuring, redundancy, and TUPE would be highly advantageous.
