Senior Support Worker/Care Practitioner (Waking Nights)

Salary: £26,665 - £27,352 per annum, pro rata

Location: Sale, Greater Manchester, M33 5AH

The Vacancy

Full and Part Time positions available

• Once 6-month probation is passed, plus £12 shift allowance per night shift (£55 for sleep ins)
• Up to 40 hours per week, which includes weekends and bank holidays as required. Shifts are 9.45pm to 7.45am.
• Enhanced pay for Bank Holiday working

We endeavour to provide a family orientated service that meets the needs of all the people we support through holistic assessment. 

Joining as Night Care Practitioner, you will provide person centred support for individuals who have a range of physical and learning disabilities including people with profound, multiple learning disabilities and complex health needs. 

You’ll actively engage in training and demonstrate a high level of commitment to personal and service development and be familiar with the current care plans and risk assessments of each service user at the start of each shift. You’ll encourage and support service users demonstrating a good sound value base always promoting dignity and respect, maintaining accurate and up to date records of the work undertaken with service users using both written and electronic media, maintaining confidentiality at all times. 

About You 

All we ask is that you hold Basic IT skills (Microsoft Word & Email) and possess basic reading and writing skills. You’ll have a genuine desire to progress in care, able to support people with learning & physical disabilities with personal and healthcare needs with flexibility & commitment to training.

The Kirkwood provide specialist adult care for anyone affected by a life limiting illness across Kirklees. Their care begins at diagnosis, within their In-Patient Unit and Support & Therapy Centre in Huddersfield, or in patients’ own homes. Their amazing care is respectful, tailored to individuals needs and wishes until the end of life. This includes support for patients family members, friends, and carers during their illness and afterwards.

The Role

This brand-new role is vital in raising awareness of the profound impact legacy and in-memory donations have on people affected by life-limiting or terminal illness.

Reporting directly to the Head of Fundraising and Development you will manage two key events, Light up a Life in December and the Sunflower Walk in August. As a champion for in-memory giving and gifts in wills, key responsibilities will include:

• Developing and delivering strategies to grow income from gifts in wills and in-memory giving
• Building meaningful, compassionate long-term relationships
• Delivering exceptional supporter engagement and stewardship
• Securing vital income through sensitive communication and inspiring campaigns
• Raising awareness of in-memory giving opportunities internally and externally.

The Person

We are looking for an experienced fundraiser, ideally with knowledge of legacy and/or in-memory giving. An understanding of the emotional nature of in-memory and legacy is essential. It would also be beneficial to have experience working with a hospice, or healthcare environment within the charity sector.

You should have:

• The ability to work collaboratively, building strong internal and external relationships.
• A flair for handling conversations in a sensitive, compassionate and professional manner.
• Experience in developing engaging campaigns and supporter journeys.
• Excellent project management skills.
• Knowledge of legal processes relating to wills, probate and legacy administration is also desirable.

The role of Interim Head of Fundraising

This is an exciting interim (9-12 month) opportunity for a strategic and people focused leader to head up our Fundraising team and help drive meaningful change for people affected by digestive conditions.

This role is primarily focused on strengthening and scaling voluntary income and leading our fundraising team and activities.  The postholder will also shape the future fundraising operating model and support a smooth transition to a permanent fundraising lead.

​You’ll be responsible for leading our small and growing fundraising team delivering exceptional supporter care, ensuring high quality service and operational delivery.  With our Chief Executive, you'll develop and implement strategies to support fundraising growth, team performance, and supporter engagement and satisfaction.  You'll work collaboratively across the charity. 

This is a hands-on role suited to a highly experienced fundraising lead who enjoys working with a growing and developing charity.

Hours & Salary range

We are looking for someone to work full-time, or a minimum of 4 days (or 30 hrs) per week. We will consider self-employed candidates for the role but this is subject to appropriate experience. Please stipulate clearly in your covering letter if you are applying on this basis.

Salary range is £65 - £68k (+£2k London weighting) to be calculated pro-rata for anyone looking to work reduced hours. Salary offers will be based on experience. 

Location

We have offices in London and Huddersfield, both of which are easily accessible by public transport or road. We support hybrid working but attendance in the chosen office is required for a minimum of 1 day per week.
