Job Description: Finance Director (Part Time)
Reporting to: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Responsible for: All Financial matters of the National Energy Foundation (NEF)
Summary
Salary: £50-55k
Hours: 22.5 hrs per week
Location: This role can be home based, although weekly travel to head office in Milton Keynes will be required.

NEF Summary:
At the National Energy Foundation, our team is forward thinking in its approach to home energy and uses its influence and projects to make meaningful change. Our primary focus is delivering projects aimed at alleviating fuel poverty and helping residents to feel warmer, healthier and more comfortable in their homes whilst also helping them cut the cost of their fuel bills. In the next five years, we will seek to help more than 170,000 households out of fuel poverty. Beyond this, we seek to encourage homeowners to make improvements to their homes to increase energy efficiency. To enable this, we deliver several projects aimed at encouraging retrofit of energy efficient heating systems into UK homes.
Job Role

The Finance Director will work with the CEO and the Finance team to collaboratively drive the development and delivery of the NEF’s strategic plans and budgets. The Finance Director will be a member of the NEF’s Senior Management Team (SMT) and will attend the quarterly Trustee Meetings.
Not only will the Finance Director take accountability for the day-to-day transaction processing, ably supported by an effective Finance Team of 3 people, they will take the lead on the budgeting, planning and analysis processes, developing a range of processes and reports to enable effective decision making.
The Finance Director will be the key contact for and work with the auditors, HMRC and other professional advisors and regulatory bodies to ensure that the organisation remains compliant and fulfils its legal responsibilities.
Management
o Manage the Finance function, providing leadership and support to the Finance Manager and their team of 2 analysts to ensure they are all able to carry out their responsibilities to the required standard.
o Provide strategic financial guidance to ensure that the NEF meets all its objectives.
o Contribute to the company’s overall business objectives and guide on financial strategy.
o Act as support and “Critical Friend” to the CEO, deputising for them where required.
Audit, Accounting & Reporting
o Take accountability for the production of timely and accurate financial reports, meeting the deadlines set by the CEO and the Trustees.
o Take accountability for all transaction processing including payroll, invoicing customers, and supplier invoice payments.
o Continually develop the reporting output to ensure that it meets the ever-changing requirements of the NEF and its Trustees.
o Be accountable for all finance systems, making recommendations for their development and implementing changes as necessary.
o Maintain relationships with the auditors, the banks, and other professional bodies.
o Work with the CEO and Trustees to compile and submit the Statutory Accounts and associated documentation.
Budgeting Planning & Analysis
o Working with the management team, set, monitor, and manage departmental and project
budgets.
o Develop and maintain a financial risk register to identify and mitigate against any potential financial challenges facing the NEF.
o Work closely with the Finance Manager and the COO in monitoring the financial performance of the projects and NEF central costs.
o Provide insightful analysis of any variances, making recommendations on how to maximise performance.
o Work with the Business Insight Lead to provide appropriate, timely and accurate information, advice and guidance to the CEO, the SMT and the Trustees.
o Agree the policy for reserves with the Trustees and monitor and maintain compliance to ensure the sustainability of the NEF.
o Support the CEO and Business Development Manger in the preparation of bid tenders and responses

As a Finance Business Partner, you will play a crucial role in supporting budget holders in their financial and strategic decision making. The key duties of the Director of Finance are as follows:
- Support the CEO and Senior Leadership Team in developing HET's organisational strategy and plans, ensuring they are financially sustainable.

The Director of Finance Business Partnering (Operations) is a critical role within the Financial Strategy, Planning & Performance division that will lead, develop and deliver high quality finance business partnering and decision support to all the central services of the university, including providing financial planning, reporting and insight across revenue and capital funded activity.
You will support the senior Director of the Financial Strategy, Planning & Performance function in development and improvement projects. London's Air Ambulance treats patients who experience critical injury in the capital and support them and their families on a road to recovery. This is only possible through close collaboration between London's Air Ambulance Charity, the London Ambulance Service (LAS), Barts Health NHS Trust (Barts), London's Major Trauma Centres and the wider Major Trauma Networks, to deliver groundbreaking care and save lives.

Reporting to the Deputy Director of Finance this post supports the provision of high quality financial reporting to assist budget holders, managers, directors and trustees. Acting as a finance business partner you will provide financial insights, analysis, and guidance to support decision-making and drive the financial performance of the charity.
Key areas of responsibilities;
- Stakeholder collaboration: Work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including finance and non-finance colleagues, to support strategic planning and decision-making.

We have an exciting opportunity to join the South East River's Trust's Finance and Operation's Team. The team supports the organisation with a broad range of financial and administrative tasks, to ensure its smoothed running, development and growth. The role would suit an individual with a financial background, who is approachable and organised, with excellent attention to detail, able to work on their own or as part of a team.
The role will report directly to the Finance Manager and will provide support in administering all financial controls and processing for the organisation. This role will support the full life cycle of grants, from donor proposal to final reporting and will work closely with Finance and Programme teams as well as in-country staff, partner agencies and external Donors.
What you'll be doing:
- Financial planning, and financial management for grant funded programmes
- Monitoring budgets, cash-flow, and donor compliance reporting
- Maintaining the grant tracker, cost recovery process and cash balance management
- Preparing monthly performance dashboard reports and quarterly cash balance reports for grant programmes
- Working with in-country teams to ensure effective grants management and compliance i.e., ensuring all grants are recorded and monitored, and that grant codes are correctly set up
- Reviewing proposal budgets, liaising with the Programmes team, ensuring compliance with donor requirements
- Timely submission of cash requests for Donor contracts and sub-grant agreements
- Preparing donor sub-grant agreements with field units, and partners
- Supporting the preparation and follow-up of internal and external grant audits
- Training and capacity building sessions for in-country teams
What you'll offer:
- Experience working with EC, ECHO, FCDO, or equivalent with understanding of compliance restricted funding and grants rules and regulations
- Strong experience of financial accounting, financial reporting, and financial management
- Strong experience of budgeting, forecasting and cash-flow management
- Experience working for international NGOs or donor agencies including field-level implementation
- A proactive, inquisitive mindset and the ability to work autonomously
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, especially when partnering with non-finance teams and in-country programmes staff.

Oak Housing is a For-Profit Registered Provider offering a range of affordable housing solutions to Local Authorities and NHS Trusts in London and the South East. Since being acquired in 2019 by a consortium of real estate professionals and the current management team and organisation has grown from 200 to almost 1000 units and have ambitious plans to triple in size over the next 3 years. Working closely with strategic partners and funds, one of their biggest growth areas recently has been in providing key-worker accommodation, specifically with the NHS.
The Finance Director will sit alongside the Operations Director and report into the CEO. The role is responsible for overseeing all financial activities for the organisation, whilst offering critical strategic direction. The internal finance function is growing, and the organisation needs more strategic involvement at the director level. As the organisation and the role develop, there is scope for this role to grow and develop further and the team reporting into this role will expand in the short to medium term.
Main responsibilities of the role:
- To support the CEO in managing the rigors from day-to-day budget setting / monitoring and cashflows to fund reporting and Board briefings.
- Carry out a review of the present situation, incorporating systems, processes, deficiencies and risk areas.
- Manage, nurture and develop a finance team, implementing sound financial controls and a can-do culture to empower decision making.
- Work with the operations director to prepare the organisation for the regulatory scrutiny that will come as the organisation passes the 1000-unit mark.
- Deliver board-level strategic insight, shaping the future of the organisation and driving growth.
- Flex up and down between a ‘doing’ role and a board-level role involved in decision making about the strategic direction of the organisation.
This role will suit someone who thrives on responsibility and wants to influence a whole organisation without being constrained by pre-existing structures. Oak is also open to someone stepping up from a Head Of role in a larger organisation into this as a first director position.

- Be a fully qualified accountant, ideally with experience in housing or working within a regulated sector.
