Job description

This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of income generation and engagement at St Joseph’s Hospice and to make a lasting difference for people and families across our communities.

As our Director of Income Generation and Engagement and a key member of the senior leadership team, you will set a bold, sustainable strategy to grow and diversify income, elevate our profile and inspire deeper support from partners, donors and the communities we serve. We are looking for an ambitious, strategic and values-led leader with significant experience across fundraising, income generation, communications or engagement in a charity or similarly purpose-led organisation.

About you

You will bring:

  • A strong record of developing and delivering successful income generation, fundraising, communications or engagement strategies.
  • The ability to spot opportunities, make confident strategic decisions and turn ambition into sustainable results.
  • Exceptional communication, influencing and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to engage a wide range of stakeholders.
  • An inclusive leadership style and experience of building, motivating and developing high-performing teams.

Where you’ll work

St Joseph’s Hospice was founded in 1905 by the Religious Sisters of Charity and built on a rich Catholic heritage. Today, we are an Investors in Diversity-awarded charity, providing expert, compassionate care to people of all backgrounds, cultures, and beliefs across East and North London.

Our specialist palliative care services - delivered at home, in our inpatient unit, and through outpatient clinics - are grounded in respect for human dignity and guided by compassion, justice, and a deep commitment to quality. Our values guide us in everything that we do. We work to ensure that everyone receives the support they need, with kindness, understanding, and respect by delivering individualised, responsive and holistic support to patients and their families.

Why work for us?

  • 27 days holiday plus public holidays, increasing up to 33 days with service
  • Subsidised café and early access to retail sale events
  • Season ticket loan
  • Continuation of the NHS Pension Scheme or an excellent salary-exchange pension scheme.
  • Santander cycles discount and cycle to work scheme
  • Health Cash Plan and access to the EAP services

If you are ready to bring fresh thinking, bold leadership and a passion for lasting impact, we would be delighted to hear from you. Join St Joseph’s Hospice and help shape a sustainable future for exceptional, compassionate care.

Closing date: 23rd October 2026

Interview date: 3rd & 4th November 2026

We are an equal opportunity and a disability confident employer and welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons regardless of their race, sex, disability, religion/belief, sexual orientation or age.
