POST OUTLINE
This is an impactful role working in a supportive and collaborative environment. The Volunteer Manager is responsible for implementing a sustainable volunteer strategy, onboarding journey and programme across the charity. This varied role oversees the promotion of volunteering, internal and external relationship building, all stages of volunteer recruitment, HR checks and onboarding and the coordination of an effective volunteer mandatory training programme. This role is responsible for organising recognition programmes, guiding departments on how to manage and retain volunteers, maximising the use of volunteer resources and ensuring volunteers have a rewarding experience whilst also positively contributing to the organisation objectives to provide vital services to the families of disabled and neurodivergent children. This role is also responsible for the line management of the Volunteer Administrator. Purpose
The Living Wage Foundation is seeking an experienced and driven Senior Media and Communications Manager to join our team for a 12-month contract. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly organised and proactive communications professional with a strong background in media relations, public messaging, and team leadership. The ideal candidate will be experienced and confident in working to tight deadlines, responding to last-minute changes, and prioritising competing demands in a high-profile environment. They will be motivated to amplify the Living Wage Foundation’s mission of tackling low pay and insecure work.
The postholder will lead all media, messaging, and external affairs work, developing and implementing a proactive media strategy that supports our mission and key campaigns, such as Living Wage Week and the annual Rates announcement. As a skilled media professional, you will oversee all communications outputs, ensuring consistency and strategic alignment, while delivering media training and refining key messaging to maximise reach and impact.
In this role, you will be instrumental in advancing our political engagement efforts, building cross-party support and working with political leaders, mayoral teams, and other key stakeholders to promote our initiatives. You’ll manage two direct reports (Events Manager and Media Manager) who each hold line management responsibilities, and you will play a critical role within our Senior Management Team, collaborating closely with the Head of Communications to shape the overall direction of our communications work. Main Responsibilities

About the role
As a Children’s Residential Worker, you will provide direct care and support to children and young people who have experienced trauma, loss and other adverse experiences, which have led to complex emotional and behavioural needs. You will guide them in understanding and managing their emotions, working within a therapeutic framework to develop meaningful and trusting relationships.
You will support young people aged 12–17 (on admission) and play a key role in ensuring their safety, wellbeing and happiness. You will also work closely with key professionals, ensuring accurate record-keeping and appropriate information sharing to enable the multi-agency support our children need.
If applying for the Waking Night role, you will have the additional support of an on-call manager should there be any emergencies. Further to this, you will be involved in monthly team meetings and receive monthly one-to-one supervision with your manager.
Working Hours
Our children and young people need support around the clock, so our home operates 24/7 with fixed rotas and a variety of shift patterns (day or waking night shifts). You will typically work an average of 40 hours per week, including weekends and bank holidays. Overtime is available and paid at time-and-a-half, including on bank holidays.

Flexibility

Our new shop in Derry City is a thriving, busy hub that represents the future of charity retail - a modern, vibrant space that has brought new energy to Castle Street since opening in June. Concern Charity Retail in Northern Ireland
Concern Worldwide operates a growing retail network of eight shops across Northern Ireland, each playing an important role in supporting our work to end extreme poverty. Our portfolio currently includes two specialist bookshops located in Derry and Holywood, alongside five established charity shops in Ballycastle, Newcastle and across Belfast on the Lisburn Road, Antrim Road and Ormeau Road.
CONDITIONS OF APPOINTMENT
It is the nature of this post that weekend working (Saturday) and occasional additional seasonal hours are part of the normal working week. Working hours will also involve some evening work to meet the needs of the post. Due to the nature of this role, flexibility is required.
We are happy to consider candidates interested in either part-time (28 hours per week) or full-time (35 hours per week). Flexibility required.

About You
You are organised, proactive and experienced in delivering successful direct marketing campaigns across channels such as direct mail and email. With excellent planning and project management skills, you can manage multiple campaigns from concept to completion, working collaboratively with colleagues, agencies and suppliers to deliver high-quality results on time and within budget.
You have strong analytical and numerical skills, enjoy working with data and databases, and use campaign insights to drive continuous improvement. Comfortable using Excel, Word and CRM or database systems, you're confident managing campaign data, monitoring performance and identifying opportunities to improve supporter engagement and response.
An excellent communicator, you have strong written skills and experience writing and editing compelling email and campaign copy. You build positive relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners, working collaboratively while confidently managing priorities, negotiating deadlines and solving problems as they arise.
You're highly organised, able to manage a varied workload and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment. You take ownership of your work, bring fresh ideas and a creative approach to campaign development, and are always looking for ways to improve results.
Ideally, you'll have experience within the charity sector, individual giving or supporter fundraising, along with an understanding of digital marketing, donor care and audience segmentation.
