We are seeking applications from intermediate professionals with some previous experience in human rights advocacy to contribute to this work.
We are committed to amplifying the voice of survivors of torture or ill-treatment within REDRESS and the wider sector and working to ensure that people with lived experience are partners in bringing the change needed. We strongly encourage applications from candidates with lived experience, which may mean that they or their families are survivors of torture, or that they have escaped persecution.

Who we are
REDRESS is an international human rights organisation based in London and The Hague that pursues legal claims on behalf of survivors of torture in the UK and around the world to obtain justice and reparation for violations against their human rights. Our 2030 Strategy sets out our priorities for 2026–2030 in response to the challenges facing the anti-torture movement and our areas of expertise.
You can find information about the organisation in the latest Trustees Annual Report. We continue to strengthen our processes to further enhance our diversity, build our survivor-centred approach, and ensure people with lived experience are part of REDRESS.

The main responsibilities of the role are:
UK Advocacy. This includes supporting REDRESS’s role as secretariat for the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Magnitsky Sanctions and Reparation and conducting advocacy to key stakeholders: the FCDO, Treasury, Home Office, parliamentarians and others.
Survivor Advisory Group. Work collaboratively with the Survivor Advisory Group to support our work with survivors and survivor communities on our policy advocacy campaigns.
Upholding the Absolute Prohibition of Torture. We’re seeking a self-motivated, creative, practical person to join our garden makeover team. Working on one of our flagship charitable programmes known as ‘Helping Hands’ this is an immensely rewarding role which has a direct impact on families we support.
This is a unique and diverse role which involves liaising with our families and then designing and delivering personalised garden makeovers for them with teams of corporate volunteers supporting. The end outcome of these projects enables children and young people with complex health needs to access their outside spaces safely which makes a huge difference to their quality of life. Many of these children struggle to leave the home environment, so a safe and accessible garden space is essential to get them outside.
For some examples of the incredible work and positive impact our Helping Hands Team have had on our families through these projects see our website: Transforming home & garden spaces | WellChild
We are also fully committed to upskilling and training the right person to enable them to do this role.
A bit about us:
WellChild, based in Cheltenham, is the national charity for seriously ill children and their families. Through a range of practical and emotional support, training and information programmes, WellChild gives children and young people with complex medical needs the best chance to thrive at home.
Purpose of the Role:
The garden makeover (Helping Hands) team provides practical support to families by enlisting the help of corporate volunteer teams from companies across the UK to undertake one-off improvement projects to create safe, accessible sensory gardens for children and young people with complex health needs.
There are six key parts to this role:
1) Meeting with our beneficiary families to identify the needs for their outside space. Using empathy and active listening to ensure you can gather all the relevant information for a successful transformation.
2) Project design and procurement of materials to deliver a suitable space, that not only meets the beneficiaries needs, but is also delivered within our time and budget specifications.
3) Compile all relevant project documentation and engage with the allocated team of corporate volunteers.
4) Deliver your design over two days (which may include overnight stays depending on project location) with an enthusiastic but often unskilled group of corporate volunteers. You will need to inspire and empower these teams in all elements of the delivery of your project and be the subject matter expert as the sole representative on site from WellChild.
5) Complete post makeover administration on our equipment and communication with the corporate volunteers.
6) Management of each makeover’s financial budgets, for equipment, materials, travel, accommodation as well as a joint monthly tool and equipment budget.
Fairly regularly to complete these garden makeovers, there is a degree of working away from home. For example, you might work on a five-week rotation consisting of two weeks conducting one makeover, over two days, each week. This is predominantly over the Spring and Summer seasons. The remaining time is utilised to undertake site visits and plan for upcoming projects with a hybrid home/office balance. Garden makeovers are completed nationwide so long and frequent travel can be required, and to compensate for this we offer a flexible TOIL policy. Over the Winter months, the role is more office based, with review of risk assessments, and planning of Spring projects. Some project preparation may be required at our store in Innsworth.

All of Practical Action’s work is focused on two connected areas for action - livelihoods and climate resilience – and we’re working to deliver three big, global changes:
Big change on food – to sustain people and planet
Big change on energy – clean and accessible for everyone
Big change on climate risk – safer lives, stronger livelihoods
Practical Action exists to change the systems that keep people in poverty and vulnerable to the impacts of climate change, nature loss and pollution.

Who we are
Every year, thousands of people in the UK face court alone. Often through no choice of their own, people must represent themselves at a moment that could have life-changing outcomes. This includes loss of access to children or homelessness. At the same time, people facing court alone may find themselves up against a party with legal representation. They are instantly at a disadvantage and overwhelmed by the enormity of the challenges they are up against. We supported unrepresented litigants in the civil and family courts in England and Wales over 45,000 times last year.
We provide a safe space with volunteers who listen to each client’s individual story. Last year, over 1000 volunteers helped people to get their thoughts in order, problem-solve and decide next steps, source relevant and reliable legal information, explain complex procedures, complete court forms, and clearly present statements.
At a time when legal support is increasingly limited, we have a vision that no one should have to face court alone.
The role
Support Through Court is establishing a legal advice clinic for money claim matters under £10,000, for a one-year pilot. Advice will be given to clients across the national service network who have been internally triaged to the clinic.
The role involves day-to day management of the clinic and supervising law students as they facilitate client appointments, conduct research and draft letters of advice. Clients will predominantly be supported remotely with occasional in-person appointments and advice “drop-ins” in the local area. You will train and supervise students to help them gain practical legal skills in a clinic setting, having final sign-off of completed letters of advice/oral advice to ensure clients receive an excellent service.
You will embed the legal advice offering of the clinic into the organisation, increasing and developing referrals from our national service network and supporting staff understanding of referral ability.
Who we are looking for
Ambitious, professional, committed and friendly. That describes us. If it also describes you and you have a passion for access to justice, then we’re keen to hear from you.
You will be a qualified solicitor with at least 3 years PQE (ideally 5+) with an active practicing certificate. You will have experience managing students and/or volunteers and a commitment to supporting Litigants in Person.
We are open to applicants wishing to take the role either on a full-time basis, or on a part-time basis as a job share. Please make it clear in your application whether you are applying for a full-time or part-time role.
Interviews will be taking place on a rolling basis as applications are received.
The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.
