Operations Director
Oasis Community Partnerships (Youth and Community)

Permanent, full-time post, 40 hours per week, inclusive of breaks 

Starting salary: £51,960 per annum (plus London Weighting for London based staff)

 At an exciting and key stage in our journey we have the opportunity for an Operations Director to join the Oasis Youth and Community national leadership team supporting local Oasis community charities across the country.

With accountability to the CEO the Operations Director will be responsible for three key areas of work:

1. Lead key elements of policy and systems ensuring the Youth and Community function remains safe and compliant, and that local leaders and other key staff are effectively supported (including line management of People Services).
2. Oversee the effective governance oversight for all local charities through a cycle of professional guidance and monitoring.
3. Lead the national framework for monitoring and evaluation across activities.

The postholder will serve as the first point of contact for victims and survivors participating and expressing an interest in taking part in safeguarding. They will also lead the development of safe, trauma-informed, and inclusive survivor participation activities and events and facilitate meetings and activities to gather insights and invite participation from a wide range of survivors.

The postholder must have exceptional empathy, compassion and understanding for the personal experience of victims and survivors who have experienced abuse, particularly (but not exclusively) within the context of faith settings, including the Church of England or other denominations or traditions.

The postholder must have demonstrable experience of building relationships of trust and rapport with individuals who have lived experiences of abuse. They must be able to demonstrate that they have consistently used trauma-informed principles and ways of working in their work. What does The Animal Law Foundation do? 

The Animal Law Foundation was registered with the Charity Commission in August 2022. It is primarily a legal research charity that looks into neglected areas of animal law and where appropriate will instruct lawyers to bring legal challenges to secure any systems in place to protect animals function as they should.

Groups like this exist in the environmental and the human rights space in the UK and in the animal protection space in other countries. There is a desperate need for such work to exist for animals in the UK. 

The UK still has some of the best animal welfare laws in the world, yet the opportunity for vast change contained within these laws is rarely explored. Through exploring these opportunities the whole system for animals can be improved and set global examples.

Mackie Myers is partnering with The Royal College of Surgeons of England, a prestigious professional membership organisation advancing surgical and dentistry care through education, research, and collaboration across the UK and globally.

The Role

• Delivering management accounts, budgets and forecasts
• Provide financial insights for allocated business areas
• Support audits and risk management
• Drive process and system improvements

Main Duties

• Provide accurate and timely management information to key stakeholders
• Analyse income, capital expenditure, endowed and restricted funds
• Collaborate with department heads on business cases
• Develop, measure and monitor appropriate KPIs for the finance function

The Successful Candidate

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA)
• Good Excel and finance systems skills
• Excellent communicator with non-finance stakeholders
• Experience working in the not-for-profit sector or auditing non-profit clients
• Proactive, detail-oriented, and collaborative

What’s on Offer?

• £55,000 - £60,000 per annum

· To work collaboratively and effectively with statutory and voluntary agencies to identify parents/carers in need of support and to agree effective referral processes. 

· To create, develop and deliver one-to-one interventions, workshops and presentations for small parent/carer groups covering a range of emotional wellbeing and mental health topics. 

· To set up and facilitate peer-to-peer support and discussion groups. 

· To offer one or more one-to-one consultation and advice sessions for parents/carers who need a more personalised approach. 

· To identify a range of specialist services and agencies who can offer further support for parents and families. 

· To work in partnership with YMCA East Surrey’s Face2Face service. 

· To work in partnership with Home-Start Epsom, Ewell and Banstead who will provide support to parents/carers with children aged under 11 years. 

· To promote the service within YMCA East Surrey and with statutory and voluntary sector partners across the region – this might include presentations at networking events and production of promotional material. 

· To collect appropriate data and information about families being supported, to record attendance at group and one-to-one sessions, to report activity monthly and ensure support programmes can be accurately monitored and evaluated.    

· To collect feedback on support delivered and to use feedback to inform continued development of the service. 

· To help assess the needs and strengths of the parents/carers referred into the service and help them identify short-term goals to achieve desired change.  

· Record and review parent/carer goals using the Goal-Based Outcomes tool and use this to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions.  

· To take responsibility for managing own caseload and diary. 

· To involve parents/carers in the co-design of group work and ensure that the service responds to user voice and meets the needs identified. 

· To provide written case studies as evidence of the effectiveness of interventions and group work. 

· You will deliver services from YMCA East Surrey sites and other community venues across the following areas – Banstead, Tadworth, Epsom, Ewell, Ashtead, Leatherhead, Dorking and Esher. 

· Any other duties which you are required to be performed within the grade and renumeration of the role. 

· To work as part of a team and attend team meetings, training events and participate fully in reflective practice groups.   

· We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people/vulnerable adults. This role will require an enhanced DBS disclosure (with barred children/vulnerable adults).  We require you to understand and demonstrate this commitment and attend any required training.
