We’re looking for a Senior Policy Advisor to join our policy and campaigns team to help drive our position as an influential, informed and powerful voice for change. The post holder will join a high performing team to help develop and implement policy and influencing strategies that drive change, ensuring a strong voice for people experiencing poverty. You will work closely with the Director of Policy & Campaigns, developing our policy work on Social Security, housing and poverty and influencing decision-makers and other stakeholders including MPs, political advisors, councillors and civil society.
About You
We are looking for someone committed and proactive with demonstrable knowledge and experience of policy development and making the case for social policy change. You will be committed to social justice and will have experience of policy analysis and public affairs work in relevant social policy areas, particularly social security. We are looking for an analytical thinker with excellent verbal and written communications skills. You will have an aptitude for using evidence to make persuasive and credible policy arguments, strong interpersonal skills, and a track record of establishing and maintaining effective relationships with external stakeholders. You will be a self-starter and have a collaborative approach to working. We are looking to recruit a HOPELINE247 Manager to enable the delivery of an outstanding suicide prevention helpline, through the effective management of HOPELINE247 advisers, alongside the promotion and development of the service.
What you will do:
Provide leadership, guidance, and effective line management to a team of suicide prevention advisers.
Ensure a consistent and high-quality service is delivered through effective quality assurance processes.
Manage staffing and resources effectively to ensure the efficient running of the helpline service.
Risk assess and provide advice and guidance to the team, in relation to safeguarding matters, in line with policy and procedures.
Provide ad hoc rota cover to support a range of clients via multi-channel communications, adhering to HOPELINE247 remit at all times.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
A proven track record of building and managing an effective team, supporting their development and managing their performance.
Previous experience of building, developing and managing effective partnerships with internal and external stakeholders in the community, voluntary, statutory and political settings.
Previous successful experience of working in suicide prevention or mental health.
Awareness of the issues around safeguarding and how these can affect young people and adults at risk.
Degree level or a professional qualification in Health, Nursing, Social Work, Community Work or a related discipline.
Salary: £34,224 per annum (Scale point 29), progressing by increments to £36,869.25 per annum (Scale point 32). As a night shift worker, you will receive an additional allowance of £10 per night shift. This will be paid on a monthly basis along with the salary.
Hours: 33 hours per week
Working arrangements: This role will work shifts starting at 10:25pm and finishing at 07:40am. Shifts will be on a rota bases across a 7-day working week. 33 hours will be based upon working 4 nights shifts per week.

Every day millions of older and disabled people are denied the social care they need. Most local authorities can’t meet the growing demand for care, and none are confident they can meet their legal duties in the future. This affects all of us - we will all need social care at some point in our lives.
We all have a right to hold public bodies to account, but most of us cannot afford lawyers so rely on legal aid. The 92% drop in legal aid cases since 2010 means that we have nowhere to turn. Without access to justice, our rights do not exist. The rule of law is broken.
What we do
Access Social Care provides free legal advice and information for people with social care needs, helping achieve a better quality of life. We work with communities to increase knowledge of the law and our rights. We highlight the gap left by cuts to Legal Aid and provide advice for those who can’t afford it.
With a 98% success rate, our network of lawyers provide access to justice when things go wrong. We collaborate with social services whilst ensuring legal obligations are met. We are working towards a future where social care is adequately funded and we all get the support we need.
We provide rights awareness training to front line managers, and legal advice and support to families and individuals. As well as providing access to justice, our aim is to drive system level change through evidence-led influencing and strategic casework. We operate our casework service mainly under a membership model where organisations involved in the social care sector contract with Access Social Care to provide legal assistance to their clients.

About the role
As we move into 2024, Access Social Care is launching a new workstream aimed at training more experts in community care law. To achieve our aims, we will be developing learning and development programmes for internal and external use. We are looking for an experienced learning and development professional to lead this programme of work.
We want you to:
- Oversee the development and delivery online and in person training on the Care Act 2014 and associated legislation, regulations, guidance and caselaw. We already have some training materials in-house, but you will need to expand and develop these for different audiences (carers, social care providers, advocates, advisers and caseworkers).
- Work with external stakeholders at academic institutions to develop degree/diploma level learning modules.
- Work closely with others at ASC and play a key role in developing the skills and knowledge of our trainee caseworkers and other new staff.
- Work alongside the Head of Business Development to develop a learning and development income stream.
Responsibilities
1. Project management of the Access Social Care learning and development offer: Working with internal and external stakeholders and using project management tools and software you will drive the project forwards ensuring milestones and deadlines are met, delivering reports
2. Content and resources development: Work closely with our Head of Digital Content, Product Manager and legal team members to develop training materials for use online and in person on the Care Act which enable people with different starting points to understand the rights of social care users, to enforce those rights, and to understand the responsibilities of social care providers and local authorities.
3. External training strategy development. Work with the Head of Business development to develop an income stream from learning and development.
4. Training delivery: Deliver training internally and externally, online and in person, using a variety of training techniques, and tailored materials to engage different audiences with different immediate purposes.
5. Intelligence gathering: Contribute to our understanding of systemic problems in the social care and community care law systems, feeding back to legal colleagues' issues that are brought up in training session.
6. General tasks: Undertake such other tasks as may reasonably be required or asked of you in order to respond to organisational needs and specifically needs within the legal team.

About the Team:
This position will be based in the WaterAid UK Programme Operations Team within the International Programmes Department (IPD). IPD operates in over 17 countries with approximately 600 staff in total. The Programme Operations Team enables the effective management of the International Programmes Directorate (IPD) through the provision of robust high quality programme management policies, processes, tools, management information and systems.
About the Role:
The primary focus of the role is to support Country Programmes and Regional Teams in both project and programme design. This is primarily by (1) directly supporting the design and set up of specific projects, programmes and proposals, and (2) strengthening capacity of specific staff in project and programme design.
In this role, you will:
Support project (and programme) design and set-up processes
- Lead, facilitate, support and advise on quality project design and project set-up processes, focusing particularly on larger, complex or higher risk projects. These may be individual Country Programme or multi-country/region projects designed at the regional or global level.
- Review and provide feedback on project design outputs to help strengthen their quality. This could include situational analyses, theories of change, results frameworks, monitoring and evaluation plans, risk analyses, narrative proposals and budgets.
- Liaise closely with identified technical and policy specialists during project design and set-up processes to ensure projects are designed to deliver sustainable outcomes and align with Global and Country Programme Strategies, Quality Programme Standards and thematic approaches.
- In specific cases, support Country Programmes in the development/adaptation of their long-term programme plans and linked project portfolios
Strengthen organisational capacity in project design and project set-up
- Build and strengthen capacity in project design across WaterAid (globally), targeting particular staff categories, through training, mentoring, coaching and the development/refreshing of tools and guidance
- Develop engaging training materials and examples.

- Maintain and strengthen the project and programme planning component of WaterAid's Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting (PMER) core procedures (often referred in our sector as MEL or MEAL) based on internal learning and sector good practice
About You:
- Significant proven experience in designing complex projects under rigorous deadlines and involving multiple stakeholders
- Excellent understanding of project design theories and approaches and their practical application
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with technical programme advisors, fundraisers and finance staff in order to develop sustainable, high quality, suitably resourced projects with clearly defined monitoring and evaluation processes
- Demonstrated ability to effectively coach and train others in project design and implementation
- Excellent understanding of the project design requirements and approaches of different donors (e.g. GAC, FCDO, USAID)

About the role:
As an IDVA you will be:
- Providing a pro-active, high quality, frontline service to victims of domestic violence and abuse through on-going risk assessment, individual safety planning, advocacy, emotional and practical support.
- Working with victims of domestic abuse to assist them in accessing services to keep them and their family safe.
- Developing individual safety plans to meet client's needs as identified in the needs and risk assessment.
- Providing advocacy, emotional and practical support and information to victims including exploration of legal and civil options, housing, health and finance and support clients through the criminal justice system.
- Supporting the empowerment of the client and assist them in recognising the features and dynamics of domestic abuse present in their situation.
- Working within a multi-agency framework consisting of the MARAC and local partnership responses to domestic abuse to keep safety central to all services for victims of domestic abuse.
You will need:
- A good understanding of domestic abuse including the impact of domestic abuse on victims and their children.
- To understand the principles of risk assessment, safety planning and risk management for victims of domestic abuse and their children.
- Experience of managing a complex caseload, able to prioritise work and deal with competing demands demonstrating an organised and methodical approach to work.
- Experience of working within a multi-agency and legislative framework have strong crisis management skills and the ability to deal with stressful and difficult situations.

This role is a hybrid role within the Children and Families Team which is part of the Wiltshire Domestic Abuse Service, providing support to children and young people that have witnessed or experienced domestic abuse.
The Children and Young Persons Triage Advisor will act as the gateway for all children and young people referrals to the Wiltshire Domestic Abuse Service. Working within an experienced and established team, the Children and Young Persons Triage Advisor will:
- Triage referrals, with a particular focus on children and young people who have witnessed or experienced domestic abuse.
- Conduct risk assessments and offer immediate safety planning advice.
- Respond to safeguarding concerns.
- Signpost victims and professionals to other support agencies where appropriate.
- Provided early intervention support to children and young people as part of triage and welfare calls made.

Working with children and young people and risk management:
- Provide a victim focused service, with an understanding of the impact of trauma on children and young people.

- Provide advice, guidance and support to children and young people who have witnessed or experience domestic c abuse.

- Respond to emergencies and crisis situations including supporting a service user to access a place of safety if appropriate.

Working with children and young people, the team will focus on delivering timely and high quality, trauma informed support to children who have been the victims of domestic abuse.
The exciting post will be working with children who have experienced or been affected by domestic abuse. Focusing on standard and medium risk cases, this role will provide practical and emotional support to children and young people, with an emphasis on early intervention and awareness raising.
