Our services

Our uncompromisable support services are wide-ranging and bespoke to each family.  We provide symptom management, end-of-life care, post-death care, short breaks, counselling, sibling support groups, music therapy, home visits and more.

We support families across a large geographical area, including South Yorkshire, North Nottinghamshire, North Derbyshire and parts of North Lincolnshire. The hospice is easily accessible from Barnsley, Rotherham, Doncaster, Sheffield and North Notts. We have free secure on-site parking for families, staff and volunteers to use. 

Every year we need to raise £6.7m to keep our doors open and only around 17% of our income comes from government sources, the rest must be raised through fundraising activity.

The role: Counsellor

To work as part of our Family Support Team providing holistic and therapeutic support to children and young people under the care of Bluebell Wood as well as family members experiencing anticipatory grief or bereavement. Our bereavement offer also extends to those families referred to us via external partnerships where children and young people have died suddenly and unexpectedly.

 The requirements:

You will be a counsellor qualified to level 4 (minimum) with at least 2 years post-qualification experience. You will meet the BACP competencies to work with children, young people and adults.

To fulfil the role effectively you will be a creative and resilient person and able to work collaboratively with your team.

You will have experience of working with children and families who have complex needs, offering support packages that meet their individual requirements.

The Role:

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Specialist Trainer: Domestic Abuse, Gender-Based Violence, and Trauma Informed Working to deliver training to a variety of different audiences. You will be delivering training on an ad-hoc basis, in a range of settings including corporate clients, public sector workers, and other charities.

We are seeking trainers with both frontline and training experience, who can deliver this type of content in compassionate, articulate and accessible ways both in person and online. Rise for Change is dedicated to creating learning spaces that are safe for all folks, in content and delivery style. 

Rise for Change is the training arm of Hope After Harm and currently provides domestic abuse, sexual harassment, and trauma-informed working training programmes for non-specialist professionals, however, we are aiming to expand our training offer to cover other areas of gender-based violence. Uniquely created by our subject matter experts, our training directly addresses the need for intersectional, and trauma informed training on gender-based violence for professionals in all sectors. We actively promote self-reflection, critical thinking and survivor voice to affect sustainable, inclusive change for survivors. Our aim is to empower participants, no matter their professional role, to be able to respond safely and appropriately to survivors both within the workplace and in the wider scope of their lives.

This is what a Specialist Trainer will do:

• Deliver specialist training about domestic abuse, gender-based violence and trauma informed working to a range of clients, primarily online with some face-to-face sessions.
• Ensure that the way they work is aligned with the values of our team.
• Respect and value the diversity of the community in which the training will be delivered and recognise the needs and concerns of a diverse range of clients, ensuring the service is accessible to all.
• Respect and uphold the value and necessity of intersectionality within domestic abuse and sexual violence prevention and safeguarding, across all areas of work.
• Treat all participants with respect and care, positively representing Rise for Change and Hope After Harm in every interaction.
• Encourage feedback from participants for each session delivered to support with the continued development of Rise for Change training programmes.
• Undertake any training and continued professional development required for the role.
• Uphold GDPR and confidentiality of any data and content whilst in this role.
• Complete any necessary admin, as required as part of the session delivery.

This is what you will bring as a Specialist Trainer:

• A strong knowledge of domestic abuse and other forms of gender-based violence, it’s impacts and working from a trauma-informed perspective.
• Experience as a highly skilled trainer, with the ability to engage people through both in person and remote delivery.
• Preferably, frontline experience of supporting survivors of gender-based violence.
• Understanding of supporting survivors in various settings (e.g. the workforce, as a manager, as a professional with a safeguarding role).
• An empathetic, caring approach to training- to you, learning is not just about providing information but ensuring a holistic approach to the learning environment.
• Skilled user of technology with high literacy of key presenting programmes, video platforms and databases.
• Have a good understanding of the nuances of culture, race, sexual orientation and gender identity within domestic abuse and sexual violence, and be committed to intersectional ways of working.
• Knowledge of adult learning techniques and safeguarding procedures.
• Have excellent communication, negotiation and advisory skills, both written and verbal when interacting with a range of agencies and individuals.
• Places the survivor at the centre of all that you do.

For this role you will need:

• To be free from any criminal conviction which would conflict with the responsibilities of the post; you may be required to have a DBS Enhanced disclosure.
• To be able to deal with all information on a confidential basis and understand data protection requirements.
• To have Citizenship of the UK or have entitlement to work in the UK
• Sign a declaration that you are self-employed and responsible for all your tax and other liabilities. 

You will be provided with training in delivery of Rise for Change’s existing and future programmes.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to provide high quality evidence-based speech and language therapy, which promotes the participation, function and safe care of children and young people accessing The Children’s Trust.

Your aim is to deliver child and family focused goal led interventions supporting those with speech, language and communication needs and to those with dysphagia needs.
To support the service for those children and young people with tracheostomies, within the limits of skills and competencies.

Role Requirements

• Support the provision of high quality, evidence informed speech and language therapy assessments and interventions for children and young people attending The Children’s Trust, in partnership with other members of the multi-disciplinary team.
• Devise suitable, individual, plans that fit within the child’s daily routine, whether to be carried out by therapists, parents or members of the Multidisciplinary team; these should be monitored, evaluated and adjusted appropriately according to the needs of the child.
• Facilitate involvement of family and carers in the rehabilitation process, including day-to-day activities, and the handing over of practical skills and care.
• Be an autonomous practitioner with responsibility for assessment, treatment and planning for an allocated caseload of children/young people.
• Work closely with all members of the Multidisciplinary team, as well as the child and family, to provide a fully integrated approach to the overall management of the child. This will include any home/school visits, professional child related meetings and / or appointments, as required.
• Liaise with all appropriate medical staff, whether employed by The Children’s Trust, visiting consultants or at off-site clinics, and attend clinics with the child as required.
• Contribute to the assessment and discussion of new referrals to The Children’s Trust, carrying out on virtual and off-site referral assessments around the United Kingdom, as required.
• Contribute to child related reports, including looked after children and annual review reports as required, and assist with the collation of these as and when required, in a timely manner and in line with organisational targets.
• Utilise patient reported and standardised outcome measures for each allocated child/young person and complete in a timely manner.
• Assess, evaluate, and recommend discharge/transition plans for children/young people within the multidisciplinary team framework.
• Provide clinical cover across the service during episodes of staff shortage/heavy workload, in order to ensure effective service delivery.
• Work flexibly in terms of hours, in order to meet the needs of the service, including an early evening (maximum one per week) and weekend day (maximum one per month).
• Represent the Therapy Team and The Children’s Trust when appropriate, deputising for the Head of Therapy - Rehabilitation, as required.
• Actively participate in and support the running of relevant meetings.
• To undertake other or additional duties that are within your skills and abilities, as the organisation may reasonably require from time to time.

Shannon Trust are delighted to be working with His Majesty’s Prison & Probation Service (HMPPS) to provide peer-led literacy and numeracy programmes across a number of prisons.  We now have the opportunity to provide a service at HMP The Mount. Working closely with the prison and their staff, people in prison, Shannon Trust volunteers and mentors, this post will lead the delivery and development of our prison-based reading and numeracy programme, maximising opportunities for people in prison to learn to read.

Ideally you will have some experience of prison settings underpinned by the ability to build relationships and personal qualities that include resilience, determination and a problem-solving approach. 

This role will be prison based. What the job involves 

We’re looking for an exceptional nurse to join the Specialist Nurses team at Prostate Cancer UK, part of our wider Support Services team that helps men and their loved ones to navigate the challenges of prostate cancer.

First and foremost, you’ll be providing invaluable information and support directly to men and their families via a range of channels, including telephone, email, webchat, and WhatsApp. 

You’ll also work with other teams across the charity, ensuring that Prostate Cancer UK maintains a strong, credible clinical voice in all its activity. This will range from supporting men through webinars and classes, to delivering education sessions to health professionals, to reviewing health information resources, to supporting communications campaigns. 

Please note that there is no face-to-face patient contact as part of this role, and the team’s remit is contained to information and support – not clinical advice. 

You’ll be working Monday – Friday, with a hybrid working model. The service runs predominantly remotely, but periodical office attendance for collaborative work is expected. 

Current daily shift patterns are 8.45am – 4.45pm or 9.15am – 5.15pm. The appointee will need to be available 8.45am – 5.15pm daily, as shift patterns are allocated based on service requirements.  

What we want from you 

You’ll be a registered nurse with solid experience at NHS Band 6, including recent work in either urology, oncology or palliative care looking after men with prostate cancer. You’ll bring excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to organise and prioritise your work effectively and flexibly. You’ll also be flexible and adaptable to meet the complex demands of this role. You’ll show willingness and proactivity to step away from frontline service delivery to support a range of wider charity activity. You’ll also be comfortable with remote working, both in terms of delivering information and support over the phone and working in a remote team.

As a Specialist Nurse, you’ll be committed, enthusiastic and compassionate – keen to apply your existing clinical experience and knowledge to provide information and support to those affected by prostate cancer and have the desire to develop new skills.

Rape Crisis South London is looking for a skilled and experienced professional who is passionate about improving the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people. 
 

This is an exciting opportunity to lead on the delivery of the South West London (SWL) Child Sexual Abuse Early Emotional Support Service for the CYP service. Working closely with the NHS and Schools you will manage a small specialist counselling team ensuring high-quality, trauma informed support for our young people who have experienced sexual violence. It is essential that you have a good working knowledge of Safeguarding legislation for children and adults, as well as child development. 
 

You will have excellent communication and organisational skills and an ability to develop partnerships with schools, families, funders and other key stakeholders. You will hold a relevant professional qualification in counselling or psychotherapy and be registered with the BACP/UKCP or equivalent. You will have significant experience of working therapeutically with children and young people, ideally in the contexts of trauma or abuse. 
 

Responsible to the Clinical Lead for CYP you will also provide additional support in the management and allocation of referrals, as well as provide additional support and advice as required to the wider CYP Service.

Shannon Trust are delighted to be working with His Majesty’s Prison & Probation Service (HMPPS) to provide peer-led literacy and numeracy programmes across a number of prisons.  We now have the opportunity to provide a service at HMP Morton Hall. Working closely with the prison and their staff, people in prison, Shannon Trust volunteers and mentors, this post will lead the delivery and development of our prison-based reading and numeracy programme, maximising opportunities for people in prison to learn to read.

Ideally you will have some experience of prison settings underpinned by the ability to build relationships and personal qualities that include resilience, determination and a problem-solving approach. 

This role will be prison based. Over the coming year, The Drive Partnership is looking to review, update, and design new training to offer to The Drive Project workforce. To lead this work, we are recruiting a Drive training team made up of a Senior Training Lead, Training Lead and Training Coordinator.

This role offers a unique opportunity to support the upskilling of The Drive Project workforce and advance The Drive Partnership’s mission to end domestic abuse and protect victims by disrupting, challenging, and changing the behaviour of those who are causing harm.

Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week.

Contract: Fixed term until March 2026 with potential for 12-month extension to March 2027 - pending funding confirmation.
