Job description

Role Summary
Help unpaid carers and staff feel more confident using technology that can make everyday caring easier.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead the Digital Confidence and Training workstream for a new Sussex-wide programme supporting unpaid carers. Reporting to the Head of Information and Advice, you will help staff and carers build the confidence and practical skills needed to use technology, online services and digital tools safely and effectively.
You will work with carers, staff, volunteers and partner organisations to co-produce and deliver accessible learning opportunities, create useful resources and connect people with trusted digital support. You will coordinate delivery across Carers Support West Sussex, Care for the Carers, The Carers Centre Brighton & Hove and Amaze, while working within Carers Support West Sussex management arrangements.

This is a varied role combining practical training, partnership working and programme coordination. You will keep the shared delivery plan on track, identify risks and dependencies, support evaluation and help create resources and skills that can continue beyond the funded year.

The role is home-based and requires regular planned travel across West Sussex, East Sussex and Brighton & Hove.

 Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the Sussex-wide Digital Confidence and Training workstream, working constructively with all four delivery partners.

• Work with carers, staff and partners to understand learning needs and map existing digital support, avoiding duplication and identifying opportunities for shared learning.

• Co-produce, pilot and refine practical, accessible workshops and resources for people with different levels of digital confidence and access needs.

• Design and deliver 30 digital confidence workshops, including face-to-face and online learning, and support staff and volunteers through a train-the-trainer approach.

• Connect learning with the Sussex Digital Directory of Solutions so carers and professionals can find trusted digital tools, services and support.

• Maintain the shared delivery plan, coordinate activity with partner organisations and keep priorities, actions and dependencies visible. The role does not line manage partner staff.

• Maintain accurate records, collect feedback and monitor outcomes to demonstrate impact and improve delivery.

• Identify risks and dependencies, resolving issues within the role’s remit and escalating decisions outside agreed programme tolerances through the programme governance arrangements.

About You

• You have practical experience of digital inclusion, community learning, digital skills support or accessible training.

• You can design and deliver engaging learning face-to-face and online, making technology clear and approachable.

• You understand accessibility, online safety and the barriers that can prevent people from using digital services confidently.

• You are organised and comfortable coordinating a time-limited programme across a wide geographical area.

• You build positive relationships across organisational boundaries and work collaboratively with people who have different roles and perspectives.

• You are patient, encouraging, proactive and calm when technology does not work as expected.
