Consultant opportunity: developing our long-term vision and strategy
Now in its 75th anniversary year, World Physiotherapy is seeking an experienced consultant(s) to co-ordinate the development of its Physio 2040 long-term aspirational vision and a five-year strategic plan (2027-32) that operationalises it.
This is a two-part but interlinked assignment. Working closely with World Physiotherapy’s member organisations, global leadership, key stakeholders and staff, the successful consultant(s) will deliver an inclusive, evidence-based horizon-scanning and strategy development process, ensuring that our 2040 vision statement and strategic plan are completed ahead of the World Physiotherapy Congress in Guadalajara, Mexico in May 2027.

Purpose of the Job
We are looking for the Senior Volunteer Managerto play a key role in working as part of a team to grow and improve our volunteer programme. Thousands of individuals volunteer regularly across Felix’s four depots, three food production sites and Felix’s UK’s three regional centres and, with a smaller number in Fundraising and other teams. We aim to improve our volunteer programme, as well as develop new opportunities, and make Felix a great place to volunteer.
The post holder will have five primary focus areas:
• Manage the development of individual volunteering at Felix, initiating and overseeing improvement projects and new opportunities and considering both volunteer experience and operational practicality.
• Line manage and continue to build, develop and support a team of seven. Lead on agreeing team and individual goals and priorities and oversee the team’s work.
• Support the team to develop site strategies to grow and improve our volunteer program and manage issues and opportunities at a local and tactical level.
• Collaborate with members of the operations team and other Felix colleagues to continue to integrate the volunteering team within Felix’s work, champion a ‘one-team’ approach.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Manage seven Volunteer Managers, providing leadership and development opportunities and leveraging their expertise.
• Lead and manage team collaboration, development, communication, and resource distribution.
• Ensure that change management principles are utilised successfully to bring the team together post merger.
• Assist Volunteer Managers in integrating into site teams and fostering productive relationships, championing and facilitating a collaborative "one team" approach.
• Support Volunteer Managers in implementing strategies which promote volunteer recruitment, retention, and engagement.
• Oversee the involvement and experience of individuals who volunteer with Felix regularly, aligning their needs, skills and motivations with those of volunteer-involving teams.

Person Specification
You will want to spend time with our volunteers and get to know their experience and perspective. In this unique and rewarding role, you'll be the welcoming face of Stella Maris in your region, visiting ships, listening to crew members, and offering practical, pastoral and spiritual support to anyone in need, regardless of faith or background.
About the role
No two days are the same. You might spend the morning visiting ships and listening to crew members' stories, help someone contact their family back home, support a seafarer in crisis, or offer a quiet moment of prayer on deck.

Working under the guidance of the Team Leader, you will manage a caseload, coordinate effective assessments and reviews, and help individuals engage confidently with community professionals and services. You will contribute to the smooth running of the service by supporting health and safety, property management, budgets, and voids, while ensuring accurate record-keeping and confidentiality. You will also develop co-produced activities, peer support opportunities, and community initiatives, promoting inclusion, independent living skills, and positive outcomes for service users.
What do I need to bring with me?
You'll need to be able to demonstrate the core skills this role requires as well as match our values and mission. You will need a good understanding of health and safety requirements within an accommodation-based setting, together with the ability to help maintain a safe, secure, and well-managed environment for service users. Experience of supporting individuals with mental health needs is essential, alongside an understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and the confidence to respond appropriately to concerns. You should possess strong literacy, numeracy, and IT skills, with the ability to produce clear written communications and maintain accurate records. A basic knowledge of housing management, including repairs and maintenance processes, is also important, enabling you to contribute effectively to the smooth operation of the service.
