The Mudlarks Community is a Hertford based charity supporting adults and young people with learning disabilities and mental health concerns. Through supported learning and meaningful work in the community we help people build confidence and self-worth whilst developing important skills.
Since its inception in 2008, Mudlarks has become a much valued and respected part of the community in Hertford and the surrounding area. We are now looking for an inspirational leader to join us on a full-time, permanent basis and continue to strengthen this legacy.
Location of job: Mudlarks’ office and across all services provided by Mudlarks, as well as regularmeetings with sponsors and other stakeholders. This is not a remote working position.
Hours: Generally 40 hours a week, but flexibility is required. Events, fundraising and networking take place outside office hours.

The Role
As the Chief Executive Officer, you will:
• Develop and deliver a strategic plan and annual budget.
• Develop Mudlarks’ public profile, build relationships with, and influence key stakeholders
• Provide effective and dynamic leadership across the Mudlarks organisation.
• Establish and monitor key indicators of the charity’s impact and financial health.
• Lead fundraising activities including applications to win contracts from public bodies and income from individual and corporate donations, legacies, trusts and grants.
• Manage direct reports effectively, providing supervision, support, development and annual appraisals for all managers, and ensure they do so for all staff.
• Uphold the charity’s culture of care, ensuring employees, participants, customers, partners and volunteers are respected and valued.
• Ensure that Mudlarks’ policies and practices are up to date, relevant and fair in the current charity environment and that the organisation is managed in line with the current best practice in employment and equality legislation
• Undertake any other duties as required by the trustees.
About you

Financial Accountant

Responsibilities:
- Perform month-end and year-end closings, including journal preparation, accruals, and finalising accounts in Sage.
- Reconcile all balance sheet accounts monthly, including agreeing on inter-charity balances within the group.
- Conduct profit and loss (P&L) reviews, ensuring the accuracy and understanding of monthly financial results.
- Prepare and deliver monthly financial reports to managers across the organisation, while assisting in the development of new reporting processes as needed.

The Goldsmiths’ Foundation’s mission is to transform life-chances by supporting technical and vocational education through grant-making and advocacy. The Director is the Goldsmiths’ Foundation’s senior executive leader. Main Responsibilities and Duties
Leadership and Management

Work closely with the Foundation’s Chair and maintain a strong working relationship with the Trustee Board, supporting them in development of the Foundation’s strategy.

Manage grant-making, advocacy and partnership activities to deliver the Foundation’s strategy.

Keep the Board informed on progress against objectives and on delivery of outcomes and impact.

Support the Foundation’s Advisory Group (a group of Goldsmiths’ Company members who are experienced in grant-making), including preparing summaries of applications received, and providing guidance on assessing grant applications.

Work closely with the Chief Executive / Clerk, Director of Finance and other colleagues in the Senior Leadership team to ensure alignment and coherence across all the group’s activities.

Manage, develop and empower the Foundation team to deliver high-impact funding programmes.

With the Board, ensure ongoing effective and compliant governance in line with current good practice, to include an annual review of the Foundation using the Charity Governance Code.
Grant-making and Impact Reporting

Oversee and manage delivery of the Foundation’s grant-making programme, ensuring alignment with current best practice in philanthropic funding. Prepare grant-making policies, manage calls for applications, and analyse applications for review by the Advisory Group and Board of Trustees.

Keep up to date on current topics in the third sector to ensure that the Board of Trustees is informed, and the Foundation can respond appropriately.

Identify strategic funding needs and gaps in the Foundation’s areas of interest to inform current and future grant allocation and proactive initiatives.

Oversee and monitor funding beneficiaries, cultivating a strong partnership approach to ensure delivery against agreed objectives.

Work closely with the Director of the Goldsmiths’ Centre (one of the Foundation’s principle beneficiaries) to ensure strong delivery and positive impact in fulfilment of its mission.

Lead and direct the Foundation’s overall approach to impact measurement, evaluation and reporting, including commissioning research and summative and formative impact reports.
External Relationships

Proactively develop and maintain external relationships with existing and prospective grantees, other funders, representatives of the craft and trade, training and education institutions, and the wider charity sector.

Collaborate with the Communications and Marketing team on devising and executing an effective communications strategy to raise awareness of the Foundation’s activities and positive impact.

Finance & Investments

Set, monitor and manage the Foundation’s annual budget for approval by the Trustees.

Teignbridge CVS is recruiting to replace our current Chief Officer who is leaving us later this year. We are seeking an experienced, bold and inspiring leader to take the organisation into the future. This is an exciting opportunity to continue and further the work of the CVS to support and empower the many voluntary sector organisations and community projects across Teignbridge and wider South Devon that provide valued services and bring positive change within and across those communities.
In this role you will operate at both strategic and operational level, responsible for leading and providing strategic direction to our staff team who are committed to ensuring our voluntary and community sector has the resources and voice it needs, and to our project staff who act as brokers between public services and community projects from within a range of multi-agency settings.
