Senior Communications Officer

The Clean Air Fund is looking to recruit a Senior Communications Officer to join their Strategic Partnerships and Communications team in London. This is an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly growing organisation whose mission is to use philanthropic grants to catalyse a reduction in air pollution.   

As a Senior Communications Officer with Clean Air Fund you would help to support the Clean Air Fund’s communications and engagement with our key audiences of governments, funders, businesses, researchers, civil society organisations and campaigners. You will help proactively shape and deliver Clean Air Fund’s strategic communications activities to tackle global air pollution. You will lead our social media strategy and management to grow our digital audiences and foster deeper engagement. From delivering compelling content to executing digital campaigns to coordinating events, you’ll play a critical role in raising our profile and 
supporting the clean air movement. Reporting to the Digital Communications Manager, you will be responsible for day-to-day delivery of compelling communications and developing our digital channels. You will also support our wider campaigns across all our channels including earned and paid activities.

To be successful in this role you will have 

•  Proven experience in a wide-ranging communications role in a similar sector.
•  Significant experience managing social media channels, and developing and delivering social media strategy.
• Proven track record of developing and implementing multichannel communications campaigns and plans.

About the role

As our Digital Customer Journey Production (DCJP) Executive, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping and enhancing British Heart Foundation's (BHF) digital end-to-end journeys, with a specific focus on email and SMS channels. Collaborating closely with colleagues across the DCJP team, you'll create personalised, high-quality campaigns that engage our audience and drive positive impact.

Key Responsibilities include:

• Collaborating closely with DCJP colleagues to design, implement, and optimise high-quality, personalised email and SMS campaigns/journeys.
• Championing email marketing initiatives, ensuring alignment with BHF brand and industry best practices.

Working arrangements

This is a fixed term contract for 6 months.

This is a blended role, where your work will be dual located between your home and our London office.

You’ll have a passion for digital communications, with a proven track record in implementing email and SMS campaigns, as well as crafting end-to-end customer journeys. You’ll have experience with an Email Service Provider , familiarity with Dotdigital is advantage.

Duties and key responsibilities

Community fundraising

• Manage and develop regional fundraising by devising a regional community fundraising strategy for income generation.
• Design and develop Sarcoma UK's calendar of annual community fundraising campaigns and events communication, including Cuppa and Cake.
• Introduce fundraising opportunities to our existing and potential supporters through a multi-channelled marketing strategy to grow levels of engagement and participation.
• Identify opportunities and recruit new community fundraisers, fundraising groups, corporate and school partners.
• Work with the Fundraising team to produce regular feedback reports and analysis on specific community products and overall revenue.
• Lead on promotion of community fundraising through digital marketing, PR, speaking engagements and on the ground fundraising.

Management

• Provide line management and day-to-day support to the Regional Fundraising Officer North, building their fundraising knowledge.
• Develop, manage, and monitor budgets for your areas of responsibility.

Income Generation

• Implement agreed KPIs, objectives and budget for the Regional Fundraising Team to drive support and engagement.
• Identify fundraising products, key accounts, and projects that will support income growth both locally and nationally.
• Responsible for monitoring and managing all income streams across all community fundraising lines including Gift Aid and working closely with the Operations Team.

Processes, administration, and reporting

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date supporter records on Sarcoma UK’s database (Raiser’s Edge).
• Ensure all recording, and stewardship processes are up to date and working across the fundraising team, wider charity and in accordance with current laws and regulations.
• Ensure necessary Community Fundraising policies are up to date.
• Follow Sarcoma UK’s processes and procedures including risk assessments to ensure a consistent approach and maintain a high level of support expected by our donors and fundraisers.
• Ensure that all activities are compliant with legislation governing fundraising including GDPR, health and safety, Institute of Fundraising, and the Fundraising Regulator Code of Conduct.

Wider fundraising

• Support company and corporate partnerships that utilise community and trade fundraising.
• Support third party fundraising and challenge event portfolio.
• Work with the Events Manager to develop merchandise and trade income opportunities.
• Support with managing merchandise supplier relationships and internal and external stock levels.

General

• The role requires some travel to events and meetings throughout the UK. Some weekend or evening work will also be required and time off in lieu will be given. Travel expenses will be reimbursed (exc. Travel to the Sarcoma UK office).
• Stay up to date with the latest knowledge in fundraising and ensure Sarcoma UK’s processes and procedures follow best practice.
• The post holder will be working in a developing environment, and they will therefore be required to undertake other appropriate duties as necessary for the efficient operation of Sarcoma UK.

Our established specialist CRM function works across the business to develop and coordinate a programme of communication that strengthens our engagement with the people that want to support our cause.

About the role

This is your opportunity to play a part in the day to day running of our CRM team and to really make your mark here at Shelter. You’ll be working closely with the Head of CRM and the CRM Manager, alongside another CRM Executive and will be responsible for delivering our email communications for Shelter, building the data selections and workflows from scratch and utilizing dynamic content, as well as fulfilling data briefs for other channels.

You’ll also be the go-to person for expert understanding of how campaigns and supporter journeys should be built within Adobe Campaign as well as understand the data held to ensure it is being leveraged appropriately. Along the way, you’ll get to collaborate with colleagues in Fundraising, Campaigns, Retail, Services, Data Management and Insight, IT and Research as you do all you can to ensure we deliver the very best supporter communications.

About you

To succeed, you’ll need a firm grasp of the CRM tech landscape, including list management, segmentation and dynamic content, with experience of Adobe Campaign, Adobe Classic or a similar platform being essential. We’re looking for substantial experience in a CRM role with significant output and a proven track record of building and deploying complex automated journeys.

You’ll have good understanding of email marketing best practices, and the ability to edit email templates in HTML is desirable. Additionally, experience using Litmus (or something similar), as well as data selection experience, would be desirable.

What is for certain though is that you’re well-organised, have strong attention to detail, and can manage your time effectively as well as being used to building dynamic content within a template and building segments and audiences.

You’ll be playing a big part not only in our team but within the wider organisation as we look to use CRM more and more.

About the role

Are you an experienced corporate fundraiser with an interest in working in the international development sector? Are you creative, strategic, highly organised, a confident and effective communicator and strong team player? 

We are looking for an experienced Senior Corporate Fundraising Manager to work closely with the Head of Programme Funding to drive new donor engagement and secure sustainable, multi-year funding. If you are seeking a dynamic and engaging fundraising role which offers you the chance to play a pivotal role within a small but ambitious organisation, then this could be the job for you.

You will be an exemplary relationship builder and have experience in developing multi-faceted corporate partnerships (ideally with experience and success in employee engagement, corporate sponsorship, and/or operational partnerships).

The role also line manages the Senior Fundraising Officer post, a position that provides administrative and fundraising support across the whole fundraising team.  Please note that we are a small team and so you’ll need to be comfortable rolling up your sleeves to help out team members and to support new business across other restricted income streams.

As second most senior leader in the charity, the Deputy Director will provide leadership to the First Give team and support the Board of Trustees and Director with strategy and governance. 

The Deputy Director will play an integral role in the development of the charity as we move into our second decade. They will spearhead our fundraising, communications and marketing to ensure the charity has the capacity to deliver against our strategic goals.

Key responsibilities 

Organisational Leadership and line management 

• Deputise for the Director when necessary 

• Provide leadership and positive role modelling to the First Give team 

• Support organisation-wide improvements and innovation, including strategic planning and organisational structure 

• Develop connections and networks that increase the profile and opportunities for the charity 

• Work with the Director and Head of Programmes to create opportunities for young people to influence and engage with our work and impact

Fundraising 

• Work with the Director and consultants to own and implement a robust fundraising strategy to support the organisation as it executes its new strategic plan 

• Develop processes for managing fundraising applications and stewardship of existing funders and supporters 

• Write and submit high quality, inspiring and tailored funding applications and reports for trusts and foundations (expected to be in the region of £10,000-150,000) 

• Identify and develop potential new funding opportunities for First Give, including major donors and corporate funders 

• Manage relationships with a set number of key funders, ensuring that we proactively seek feedback, engagement and involvement in our work 

New School Partner Recruitment 

• Oversee and co-ordinate all new school partner recruitment sales and marketing activity 

• Work with our marketing agency to develop and implement marketing campaigns 

• Support the Programmes Team to recruit new partner schools in priority regions 

• Proactively seek opportunities for growth of the First Give partners network 

• Develop and design and production of marketing and sales resources to support all sales activity 

• You may also be required to deliver sales meetings with networks including Headteacher meetings and attend conferences to promote the work of the charity 

Communications 

• Lead the development and manage the delivery of our communications strategy, including all messaging to key stakeholders via a range of appropriate channels, including newsletters, social media and our website 

• Be responsible for the First Give website, ensuring it is up to date, relevant and meets the needs of the organisation 

• Brand champion, ensuring that all external communications and resources are aligned with our brand identity and tone of voice 

• Management of retainer with external design agency

Role Summary

This position provides key support for the policy and research functions of the charity, in addition to collaborating on campaigns and public affairs work. You will be responsible for carrying out primary research relevant to the charity’s policy and research functions. You’ll be monitoring and collating new policy and research materials and contributing to public communications including report-writing, blog posts and social media activity. You’ll be providing input into strategic planning regarding policy and research activities. You’ll connect with researchers and policy people from other charities and from universities. Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Policy

• Support the P&RM, DR&PA and CEO in responding to public consultations, advising policymakers and working with national policy and research bodies as appropriate.

• Represent the charity in meetings with policy partners where appropriate.

• Attend policy and research conferences on behalf of the charity, providing feedback to the team on key learning and opportunities that arise.

• Work with the SC&PA and DR&PA to draw up influencing strategies to target key stakeholders on policy priorities.

• Monitor external research that helps our policy work and opportunities for collaboration.

• Work with the SC&PA  to engage campaigners in our policy work.

Research

• Work with the P&RM to carry out research activities relevant to the policy and research functions of the charity; including collating and analysing data, and co-authoring reports for both internal and public purposes.

• Work with the P&RM and the Communications and Marketing teams to produce engaging and accessible communication of research findings for a range of audiences. 

• Monitor and collate new policy and research materials, including research reports, policy documents and media activity. Work with the P&RM to produce internal reports where appropriate and to ensure the charity’s activities reflect and respond to the wider policy and research environment.

• Work with the P&RM on external research projects funded by the charity, including support with assessing the quality of bids by external researchers. 

Across both areas

• Produce social media communications where relevant to policy and research. Work with colleagues across the Research and Public Affairs and Communications and Marketing teams to develop strategies for maximising impact, especially in digital communications.

• Contribute to strategic planning by contributing to staff meetings, producing supporting materials and providing feedback on public affairs.
